  • this makes me cry..i wish my dad cared about me this much..

  • I cried at this scene.. It was so touching ;_:

  • This movie specially touched me deep cause I have a big hearing loss myself too. And seeing the parent's love for their child is just heartwarming. This is the nicest thing a father can ever do for his son. I love this movie so much!

  • hï_ï_féël_sÕ_lõñèlý_tóÐáy

  • love this part of the movie, so emotive, really emotive movie! i love it.

  • Mi pelicula faforita

  • This song was written by Sean Lennon.

  • @tbutler8104 No, it was written by John Lennon for his son Sean. :)

  • @tbutler8104 Sean Lennon was 5 years old when his dad, John Lennon, wrote this for him.

  • This was my fave part of the movie

  • rip john you are the best

  • I always break down at this part of the movie.

  • This scene surely evoked my memories of that incident in December 1980. I still have that album, "Double Fantasy", and I'll probably play it again in early December, thirty years later. At the time, I was working in collegiate radio, so my copy is a duplicate.

  • I cried when I watched this part of the movie.

  • I just purchased the sound track of this movie the other day, and while it is terrific, I was a little disappointed that it didnt have this version of Beautiful Boy on it, it had Lennon's version instead, and while it is quite nice, I really wanted this version on it.

  • What song is this?

  • beautiful boy - john lennon

  • Great movie! Love this scene! Cole is cute. :)

  • I want to learn this in sign language..it's so beatiful. This movie was one of the first reasons I started to learn sign language.

  • @hippygravy240 me too i thought this was soo beautiful

  • lindoooooooooooooo

me faz querer sempre lecionar...preencher mentes ansiosas do amanhã...

  • i love this movie especially this part!!!

  • Oh, somebody that doesn't like Richard Dryfuss, hey man, YOU can't act! Not only that producers in Hollywood didn't seem to think he sucks. Damn fine movie, every actor did a great job!

  • Best part from the movie , i could watch it over , and over again.

  • eu vi esse filme e gostei muito

  • I think Richard Dreyfuss does it better than John Lennon.

  • I agree!

  • So Sweet!

  • calm your ass down.

  • this always makes me cry!

  • its that last part when he says "cole"! gets me every time. agh! haha

  • Oh god I cried.

  • Where the hell is the rest of it? I could almost put up with the awful sound quality if you had the whole performance

  • @BallsMacHammer Splendid choice of words. You'll surely get into academia if you talk that like that.

  • this movie is why my son's name is Cole!!

  • Beautiful song, great movie. Imagine loving music as much as this man did and not being to share it with his son fully. Omg, I'm crying again. I just started a signing class and was searching for an ASL rendition of Across the Universe, when I found this. Thx for posting

  • Inspirational movie + Lennon song....."Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." [What a Lennonism!] = Excellence

  • oh yeah! the best Lennonism, my mom always never understands why i idolize John , she just doesnt get what a great man he was does she ?

  • He was a true artist. He wrote poetry, composed music and painted and sketched as well. He held his creative finger on the pulse of the second half of the 60's decade along with the other Beatles. I believe John was the magic. Paul complemented him with melody composition, but, lyrics,....u can just tell when it was John, lol.

  • best scene in this movie one of my favorites

  • Excelentes música, ator e cena. Uma das mais simples e tocantes cenas que eu já vi em toda a minha vida. Richard Dreyfuss está excelente, bem como todo o elenco....Eu choro toda vez que vejo essa cena.

  • u'd have 2 see the whole movie 2 understands. its really heartwarming in context.

  • I just bought a vcd of this phenomenal movie!Pahiramin kita...You will surely shed tears.

  • Yes this is a great movie. I also cry every time I see this scene. This version of the song is NOT included in the CD soundtrack. Unfortunately. Why do they not include the actual songs from the movie? True, they may not be considered as "perfect" as the one's from the great artists, but the songs are IN the movie so should be in the CD soundtracks! Also, Jean Louisa Kelly's interpretation of Someone To Watch Over Me is excellent! A far cry from the Fordham version on the CD..

  • I know you may not agree with me but in my opinion this is the best musical movie ever!!!!

    1. Mr. Hollands Opus

    2. Amadeus

    3. The Red Violin

    4. Moulin Rouge

    5. The Producers (VERY FUNNY)

I don't like riduculous musicals like the sound of music or West side story(terrible film gangsters dancing STUPID) for some weird reason it gets annoying when they start singing for no reason.

  • ah...great movie...and lennon kicks ass

  • Every time I see this scene I cry like a baby. I have 2 grown up sons, but this song takes me back to when they were 3. How I miss that time in my life. (I'm 57 years old now)

  • omg me too...i think i was in 8th or 9th grade last time i seen this.....

  • gosh i love this movie so much its just so amazing

  • this is a good movie, everytime i see this part i start to cry. it's sucha meaningful song when you've seen the whole movie

  • I love this movie! Yes, someone with technical skills upload the whole thing??

  • very touching..loved the movie

  • it's one of my favorites for two reason, one because it was my dad's favorite and because it remnds me of my dad and how we didn't really get to spend muchtime with him before he passed away, and it makes me cry every time

  • @12beav I'm sorry to hear about your father. :(

  • i started it in my band class too, but we also never made it to the end. i have seen the whole thing though, it's pretty good.

  • someone should upload the whole movie!

  • this is one of my favourite movie it so sweet and i know ASL is it the best

  • dude i hate it wen people fuss over a vid and get all emo y not just say oh grewat vid awesome

  • lol i have music appreciation and the class is so useless and wild no body gives a crap. we watched this..

  • oh my gosh i saw this today for the first time ever too!!! we watched it in choir and i absolutely love it!! but too bad there's only like one scene posted from the movie!!! :( maybe somebody who owns it or something could tape it???...hint hint haha good job tho.:)

  • hey um who u have 4 choiur cuz so did i

  • My previous comment was meant as a reply to bbv001's comment.

  • Screenwriter Patrick S. Duncan was featured as one of 25 TOP screenwriters on page 141 of WHY WE WRITE by Lorian Elbert (R.I.P.)

  • i saw this movie for the first time today, and i cried at this part, i love this song, and when he sang it to cole i was crying, it's so beautiful and cute!

  • I've seen it twice . . . and it always makes me smile. I love it.

  • yeah i want to watch it again soon, and i just barely saw it about a week or two ago! it's so good, i want to show it to my friend, it's one of my favorite movies even though i've just seen it once

  • this is my favorite film. The BEST!!!!

  • i loved this scene in this movie ;_;

we had to watch it in ASL 1.

  • this is a great movie.

  • yeah it is! I admire it! As a very major member in the Deaf community, I would have to say this movie is a MUST SEE for people that are interested in Interpreting, or even learning sign language. Another good movie is Children of A Lesser God.

  • Man, imagine how many fathers have sung this to their baby boys as they grew up since Lennon did it.

  • I love this part. I can't comment on the sign language cos I only know British Sign Language.

The guy playing Cole is so cute

  • we're gonna need a bigger boat...

  • Beautiful, beuatiful, beautiful, beautilful...

  • i love that part too! always makes me cry by the end :p

  • So great to see this here! so great I was looking to find exactly this!

  • My favorite part of the movie, it always makes me cry!!!

  • LOVE this movie!

  • i love this movie. someone upload it please! richard dreyfuss sings pretty well, despite his nervousness.

  • I love this movie!!!!!!!!!

  • I was watching this movie in math class cause we had testing and I was like I've never seen this movie? Now I know it just by this clip...

  • I get goosebumps everytime i see that scene

  • Beautiful scene. I just wish it wasn't being recorded straight off the TV screen.

  • this movie made my cry, damn :-)

anyway put more clips, its great stuff!

  • class film, yet so poignant!

  • this is such a sad scene in the movie if you have ever seen it! GOOD JOB

  • i just saw the movie last night, its great. it really makes you think. It made me cry:(- l8er

  • It made me sick.

  • how do you figure?

  • Well it's a music teacher who considered his deaf son a disapointment. So he signs a song to him at the end. It's just a really ghastly scene that I thought went too far and ruined the plausibility of the film.

  • i guess..

  • For a truely emotional scene try Al Pacinos speech in Any Given Sunday. That is classic.

  • His speech in Scent of a Woman is good, as well.

  • He figures because richard Driefuss butchers the song at one point he's actually signing say water boat for "over the ocean sailing away" when he's saying "on a personal not he signs one word "unique" when He's sining every day in every way he signs everyday on every road. he butchered the song and I'm sure the Deafies playing in that scene were busting up

  • when signing a song in asl it doesn't translate directly so that prob the right way
