  • MY Mac mini doesnt sound quiet. when mines turned on, it does two sounds.

  • Omg, that was fast :O

  • Getting a Mac because it boots in 16 seconds? Oh hey, why not just use Sleep mode...

  • nice job with the video cutting man, where was the bong? nowhere!

  • @myid9876543 You can mute that, ignorant bastard. You've obviously never owned a Mac, because yes, this is possible if you've installed nothing on it and tweaked a bunch of things to make it boot this fast. Mine doesn't, but it could.

And no, I'm not a Mac fanboy, so you can stop right there with that there reply of yours.

  • @GavinRoskamp

i own 9 macs, and i have no idea why the hell i said that because i muted my macbook pro's startup sound

  • COOL STORY BRO!

  • we can see u paused it

  • Yep, Tiger was fast. Leopard added 10 - 15 seconds to boot time.

  • prove it

  • post it bro

  • liar

  • that things on crack man

  • I don't prefer one to another, they are simply another tool in my box. Brand loyalty is really ridiculous when it comes to computing. My home runs Mac, Windows, and Linux in perfect harmony. Free yourself from Brand Loyalty! :D

  • i have a mac mini and a vista running HP

    i love both.

  • dont u meen hp running vista? lol

  • yea lol. i just had a mix up. but my hp runes windows 7 now.

  • lol

  • Wow, I can't wait to get one of these soon! i am gonna use it for video editing and music production i am kinda getting tired of PCs so i am kinda starting to go into mac's side lol

  • Awesome! I love my Mac Mini, it does everything I want it to.

  • false

  • very cool, are mac mini's really that good of a computer though? and could u get hdmi display with these?

  • Monoprice sells MiniDisplay to HDMI cables, so yes, although I'm not sure how great it will be. I'd try it tho!

  • im getting one of these for recording idk if its good though

  • Wow, it boots in 16 seconds and yet the video takes 48. Time wasting bastard.

  • it's slower if it have more programs

  • what the fuck are you talking about a "notebook" mac mini??

    get your facts straight, PCtard!

  • you totally sped up the video, u can tell when u back away from the mac mini cuz u go faster

  • actually the video is running the same all the way thru and its easy to note that. a good indication that its not sped up is the dock came up from the bottom the same speed mine does on my iMac. I think its a pretty good test. The Mac Mini is actually the most underestimated computer on the market today. PC fanboys love to bash it. Its a quick little sucker. I've used one.

  • My iMac boots just as quickly.

  • it didnt bong :(

  • thats what she said

  • my mac took 11 seconds until we put microsoft office on it now it takes like 30

  • Intel is phasing out the 65nm processors currently in the mac mini, so Apple will be forced to update it soon. its about time, too.

lets make a wishlist for a new Mac Mini...

    -All-aluminum case

    -Non Intel IGP graphics

-Penryn based core 2 duo processors at speeds that justify the price

-More video outputs, since the mini makes a very good home theatre PC. it should have HDMI, mini displayport, ect.

-support for 8gb of memory? i doubt this would happen.

post anything else you may want.

  • Competetive price...

  • i think they will make it all aluminum and the apple logo will be black like on the imac. all newer macs are getting nvidia graphics... if they integrated that into the mini... i would pee my pants. haha

  • An unscrewable trap door to upgrade the memory, similar to that of the iMac...

  • Now u can pee ur pants nw

COz they put Nvidia graphics in all their Macs

  • all macs do that dude

  • my pc boots in 26 seconds

  • I seriously doubt that. I had an hp with 2.1 ghz processor, 4 gb ram, 320 gb hd—and it took forever. I have a Mac with the same specs and it takes 30 seconds flat. You can't be running Microsoft OS.

  • ill post it on yt if i want, its either 26 or 29 seconds

  • I'd like to see you post a video of you using Vista without getting an error message all day. I'd be impressed.

  • i have an XP computer, 1.86 Ghz, 2 Gb ram, 768 mb of graphics memory on two graphics cards

  • I love Apple but Vista really is not that bad. I don't know why everybody is saying that vista's slow it's cool

  • That's because Mac OS is so empty... Anyway, with your specs, you couldn't get to boot Windows so fast. but with hard drives in RAID 0 it would boot much faster.

  • I have a Gateway GT5404 with 2.8 ghz processor, 1gb of DDR2 ram, 250 gb. It takes about 28-30 seconds for Vista to reach the desktop. It gets loud though. Working too hard...

  • Your computer is a "gateway" to crap

  • Wow what a horrible insult from an aging 25 year old. Now if I didn't insult, why are you mad at me?

  • I'm over the hill, ready to retire, and quick to die. I'm aging so quickly. Will I make it to next Christmas. Dude, your Gateway computer is an insult.

  • Wow what an insult. Hey, what did my computer me do to make you angry anyway? And you know, my Gateway computer is an insult to you but not for me. You don't see me insulting yours.

  • And oh btw I was comparing YOUR computer to mine. Bastos mo, fat American who takes everything for granted and doesn't care how much people starve in the entire world. You Americans are the biggest reason why Global Warming is taking place anyway.

  • mac is the shit

  • mas? go eat a dick

  • Im pretty sure my Dell boots faster. 2G RAM, 2.4Ghz Processor, but it only has like 5 gigs of stuff on the HD so that is a big advantage.

  • lol 16 secs and you say thats good? true, my pc needs like 1 minute, but my macbook and my media-mac mini actually need like 5-10 secs. with A LOT of stuff on it.

  • Well...who cares for boot times anymore?

With a Mac there is usually no need to reboot so a few seconds here and there hardly makes any difference.

  • never underestimate machintosh!

  • i have core quad

  • Quad core?

  • yes core 2 quad xD

  • Its an intel. The video said that its a core 2 duo processor.

  • intel is not slow

  • it depends on the amount of files

if you have a new computer with nothing on it it will boot quicker

  • Not True. The amount of files that you have stored on your hard disks will not affect the speed of a computer positively or negatively. Chances are- most of those files are applications, and without the users knowledge, they start up upon startup. This effects the speed of a computer GREATLY. I know how to turn this off on PC's but not macs. (unfortunately) Windows users- I would recommend that you get rid of all of your quick start icons(they will draw some memory too!

  • With Mac you just right click and select start at startup or uncheck it if you don't want it to. It is that simple.

  • What exactly do you mean?

  • i'm not shure about this video

    :s

  • My mac mini takes 40 to 50 sec to boot up.

  • O.o can u prove it??

  • ill make a video soon ^_^

  • whoever spammed me is a fucking n00b dont be a n00b!

  • make a vid it takes not even 5 mins to take a vid and upload it to youtube.

  • woooow. I was expecting that mac mini to have like 2,000ghz core triple quad prossecors etc etc. but it hasnt, its that fast even with the normal specs! wow

  • like hell.

  • So what xp sucks anyway

  • you forgot the several zeros after 11

  • hahaha nice :)

  • i couldn't care less

  • Me too. but i am saying, it has happened

  • let's see it, take a vid and use a stop watch.

  • Hmm Good Idea...lol...

I am busy..I came back from a Trip So I need to Catch up in school..upload photos and rest..then I'll get a video of it...

  • well with leopard since the dock is reflective it sometimes lags when I use the magnify effect, mostly when magnifying a stack...

  • I have the same keyboard lol! Anyway, my 2 Ghz 1 GB RAM intel iMac aluminum with Leopard takes like 50 seconds with only iChat as the login item!

  • DUDE

    is leopard slower then tiger?

cus i just got my CUSTOMIZED imac and it starts up pretty slow...

    like 30-40 seconds...

    and the dock laggs :'(

  • what do you mean the doc laggs

  • i think he means when you mouse over the dock it reacts very slowly, and the animation isn't smooth like it's supposed to be.

  • runs slowly :)

  • yes leopard is slower i have the same thing on my macbook tiger is super fast or atleast the intel verson

  • thats because its tiger on a intel it was that fast with my macbook until i upgraded to leopard:p

  • I want a new comp, my custom built comp takes like 15 minutes to fully boot up... and for some reason it opens my documents 2 times when I boot it up...

    Macs forward all the way!!!

    I want a Macbook Pro

    512mb of video ^^

  • mac Mini is really my LOVE -

I'm PC user but I always recommend: Mac, free of viruses, high performance a pretty looking ART design in the case :)

  • whuy the start sound is buetiful

  • weresa the bong we love

  • He had installed a program that "delete" the starttone!

  • If only my Inspiron 531 PC booted that fast :(

  • i have an old inspiron 4100, 1.2 ghz pentium 3 m, 512 ram, on the windows boot screen the little three dots only go around 1 and 1/2 times, wierd huh. the pentium 3 m is what the intel core architecture is derived from, i can see why, that thing hauls for seven years old.

  • my inspiron e1505 takes upwards of 10 min. to fully boot up.

  • well then you got issues.

  • Wow dude thats just terrible.

  • time for a new computer dude! haha

  • wow same my 17inch 1.88ghz imac boots in like 15secs too

  • I bet you could highly upgrade the procesor up by yourself. Find one for socket 479 and even the heatsink is the same;).

I think the mainboard is just a common microatx.

    (i don´t have a mac, but I wish)

  • 17 seconds

  • =( Come on. It's not a Mac unless it goes, "Dinnnnnnnnnnnng" when you first push the power button. Bring back the "Dinnnnnnnnnnnng". =(

  • ya i screwed that up trying to change that sound with a program hack thing, it was for powerpc, and now it doesnt make the noise

  • I tried that, too, but I simply reverted the settings to default and then trashed the application.

Maybe if you re-download it and revert the settings ... your start-up sound will be fixed! :)

    -The One

  • Reinstall OS X and it will bring the ding back

  • the ding has nothing to do with the os, it's hard wired into the machine. i think....

  • ur right when i upgraded from os9 with my old mac the ding was same

  • kool thanks for the reply!

  • welcome

  • Very true its stored in the rom which is sodderd to the mother board

  • juss wiat till you fill ur up,,then not so fast

  • Easy. Connect a 7200 RPM FireWire hard drive. That's where I keep my main booting system. I plan to use the internal drive for Yellow Dog Linux. I have a Mac mini G4! :)

    -Paul Mezenko

  • NO DAMNIT I DONT HAVE A FIREWIRE DRIVE! i am using the original 60 gb 5400 rpm drive that came in the machine

  • Since when did I ask you about a FireWire drive?

    -The One

  • Or Paul? Paul Mezenko, Official Artist Manager and Associate of The One, never asked about one, either. It appears that he did not.

    -The One

  • I really like my MacMini. 5 Stars.

  • Right... my OSx86 hackintosh boots in 7 seconds...

  • my mac mini core duo 1.83ghz 2gb ram boots in 6-7 seconds ad a 4-5 second shut down and its also illegal go bye a mac you cheap skate

  • hey dude i have a mac mini 1.66 ghz okay,i know what im talking about,it doesnt take 6-7 seconds,,i am a mac owner

  • so do I have a modded the boot times and no mac's are identical so i no what i'm talking about, and mine is the faster one than yours its the 1.83ghz model, and I will be buying a core 2 duo 2.16Ghz off ebay for it in a few weeks

  • if you mode the boots times ever so slightly it can make a massive improvement, plus i added a bigger & faster 160GB hard drive and 2gB so thats why mine will be faster than yours and yours is the 1.66Ghz one mine is 1.83ghz. my shut down has always been super fast though. I no what i'm talking about

  • yeah, the guy in the video has a new mac, wait a couple of months, the boot time will increase

  • actually it boots in the same time, 16 seconds, had it for almost six months now, i have 100 gb of music, videos, and pictures on there, and 4 different users, whats my secret to keeping your mac running like new.... OnyX!!! its a maintainance program i use once a month, it only takes five minutes, and it is awesome! you can get it at the apple downloads page

  • hey is it free?

  • yes

  • the secret to keep your Mac running like new is nothing. Mac OS X doesn't tend to bloat.

Now, I love Windows to bits, but it does bloat over time. You DO have to keep Windows clean every now and then.

  • yeah on windows defrags and disk clean ups at least 3 times a week not so bad :)

  • But, of course, the PowerPC chips were much faster than the Intel Pentium chips until Intel introduced the Core Duo/Core 2 Duo line!!! :)

Apple made the switch from PowerPC to Intel at exactly the right time!!!

    -Paul Mezenko

Official Artist Manager and Associate of The One

  • Hah! Even though I have an older Mac mini G4, it still boots in around 30 seconds! Compare an old Mac to an old PC! :) A PC takes around 2 minutes to boot!!!

    -Paul Mezenko

Official Artist Manager and Associate of The One

  • my old PC from 2005 took 5 mins to boot it on one of my vids lol my mac mini is 6-7 seconds

  • It's funny how slow Intel was back in the Pentium days ... then it made a HUUUGE leap!

But from 2005? Ouch! My Mac mini G4 is from 2005! And, as I have stated below, it boots in 30 sec.!

I love my Mac mini! :) Although, I might have to buy an Intel Mac mini soon, considering the upheaval that is OS X Leopard. Multi-tasking is going to be a drag!

    -Paul Mezenko

Official Artist Manager and Associate of The One

  • Rjnicko: Sorry to disappoint you, but its only 1.83 GHZ, not 3,66. Its not 2 cpus, its 2 CORES, its not the same thing. You have a 1.83 GHZ CPU, no more, no less.

  • That's why it's a Mac mini, the cheapest Mac on the market!

    -Paul Mezenko

Official Artist Manager and Associate of The One

  • I'm getting a mac mini soon (my first mac).

  • my mini booting in 20 sec

  • Steve would've said: "BOOM!" :)

I'll get me one of those babies soon.

  • great video, my mac mini doesnt boot that fast, its about 24 sek

  • i have a mac mini intel core duo 1gb ram 1.83ghz 3.66ghz all together and its 9.2 seconds

  • do you use another harddrive? When booting on a firewire disk it will boot faster.

  • no it is all stock, i dont think that it would boot faster though firewire though? interesting concept, but an internal hard drive will boot much faster, which is what i used.

  • i have new mac mini dual core intel? how did you do that so fast?

  • it was right when i got it so i hadnt installed much stuff, now it boots in like 20 sec, but thats still way fast

  • how did you do? my mac starting in 25 sek

  • the new macs are very advanced... everyone should have one
