It was kind of cool to be a knucklehead and claim your favorite band was also the GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD...EVER!!!!!! But its kind of pathetic when a bunch of middle aged Homer Simpson like bozos still make that claim.Especially in light of the fact that thier favorite band were a bunch of thieves and wimps who could never hack the type of life that created the blues sound in the first place.Led Zep can amp it up,but they can never get that real hard feeling that Waters/Dixon had.

I agree that zeppelin went to far. But Stairway, other then that chord, is still there song. Perhaps, they should have put some kind of mention of Spirit in the Song's credits, I don't know. But some of the other examples are far more worrying.

Yeah there is some problem in the crediting, but it certainly doesn't negate Zep's greatness. They used traditional blues licks and lyrics just like a million other rock bands of the day. The point is they added a new dimension to it. No musician "invents the wheel". They build on what has come before them.

This is just bullshit. The first song isn't even that close. It justs starts out with an Aminor and the bass "travels" down the neck. As for the Willie Dixon song, it's only the lyrics that has benn borrowed. If these loud-mouthed idiots would have taken their swell heads out of their rear ends they would hear that neither riff, nor chords are the same. Idiots.

The Willie Dixon stuff is definitely stolen, but the Stairway/Spirit stuff definitely ISN'T close enough - there's certainly more than one note difference in the riff itself (I guess they're referring to the bassline). They didn't even get to the vocal melody, which is the part that really matters from a legal standpoint.

No, I know what I'm talking about. The bassline is very similar, and the picking resembles the Stairway opening - but it's straightforward arpeggios with no thumb-picking, and it simply isn't the same notes EXCEPT for the bassline. That's ignoring the fact that it's only a similarity of the intro, and Stairway has multiple sections and is 7 minutes long, it's not a one-riff composition. The Dixon rip-offs are bassline, vocal melody, AND lyric, and for key parts of the song.

Hardly since it was overshadowed by a couple other songs on the album. Plus, Kashmir was the only extravagant one that you mentioned.
