@ultrakool its less toxic than chlorine, which is also in drinking water, and which is one of the things that prevents us from having reoccurring outbreaks of cholera like we used to... its fairly obvious you don't know anything about toxicity. Water itself can kill in high enough doses, Look up water intoxication if you don't believe me. The fact is that at low levels sodium flouride has no meaningful effects beyond the prevention of tooth decay and the suppression of pathogens.

Half the time 'fluoridated water' actually means reducing the amount of natural fluorine to the level which provides maximum benefit and no side effects! SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE that the minuscule amount we allow in our drinking water has any negative effect. SHOW ME THE STUDIES. @devabarry 1ppm. In many parts of the world the naturally occuring fluoride levels are way above this, and cause a condition known as dental fluorosis. It is much more common in places where the water supply is derived from wells, etc, where un-fluoridated water is the norm. How do you think scientists first became aware that fluoride prevents cavities? Because those with (what they discovered to be fluorosis) had abnormally low rates of cavities in their communities.

Fluoridation does lower brain function to an extent and causes a more lethargic state in people. But let's assume the fluoridation of water is well inentioned, it solely to give us whiter teeth. Fluoride consumption has contributed to an increased risk of diabetes, thyroid deficiencies, and dental fluorosis. These kinds of cases are being more common, and the data suggests more adverse health benefits than positive ones. It's not worth the health and mental risks to drink poison, even gradually.
