@Sethwm2 Its a diesel thats why it sounds like that and that sound is actually called diesel knock.  Its just how these engine's knock sounds. Just like a Ford Powerstroke diesel sounds different from a Chevy Duramax or a Dodge Cummings diesel.

@peugeotCitroen2CV Its the NA (naturally aspirated) version. You can tell because of the style air filter and around 5:38 in the video you can see the intake runners and exhaust manifold. Their shape indicates that its not turbocharged.

Every diesel engine needs to be revved out a couple of times a year to clean out the carbon. It must be done with the engine fully warmed up. Just drive in 3'rd gear in 80-100km/h for 5 -10km, 3-3,500 rpm. You will see that the smoke will slowly dissapear in accelerations. It is also good for newer diesel engines with low rpms in normal driving. Can make wonder with a smoking diesel!

OM606 24valve inline6 turbo diesel on the other hand...would have been a fucking beast in that car! 7mm elements in pump + holset hx40 super = ~500whp :)

@unimogman404 ye, my whole family is skilled with cars, except my mom and sister. that means me to jack wagon. and i actually have enough knowledge to understand theres nothing wrong with revving up a diesel while its under no load. the ONLY way revving can damage a diesel, is if its cold.

@unimogman404 i have a mint condition 87 w124 300D turbo. i rev her when she's hot, it doesnt matter. only time i dont do anything is in the mornings when she's cold. and dude, these diesels can take alot, i use my car to tow a trailer with either cars or scrap metal, and she just goes. no problems. my dad has an 87 300SDL and an 94 S420, and they both pull. so dont try to tell me about mercedes diesels alright old man.
