  • I think Americans shouldn't be watching a film about a sport they can't even say properly.

    FOOTBALL

  • Michael Sheen is so good. So is Timothy Spall playing his long-suffering assistant. Remember Spall as the photographer from Mike Leigh's "Secrets and Lies"?

  • This is precisely why I don't like Americans.

  • @joeyTKM and thats why we don't like you as well!!

  • Football it's supposed to be played with your leg

  • Football club as its often called. Yes because that's what it is. Football. The one that involves the use of a foot at all times. Also its CLOUGH not Cloughs. You disgrace the greatest manager of all time

  • doesn't take much to piss you people off, does it?

  • @Crewmannumber6 Lol win.

  • saccer? its football.

  • Football*

  • Nigel clough dosent have his dads awsomeness does he

  • It's a fantastic film, and I say that as a Leeds fan. *Nails self to crucifix*

Also, I don't mind American's (or anyone else) calling it soccer, but I dislike that game they have being called football. It's the bastard son of rugby and we all know it.

  • id tap that...

  • I love football too, but the word soccer is English, so stop whining.

    Quoting from wiki:

The rules of football were codified in England by the Football Association in 1863 and the name association football was coined to distinguish the game from the other forms of football played at the time, specifically rugby football. The term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as an Oxford "-er" abbreviation of the word "association".

  • ignoring all the back and forth on the comments here, it's a brilliant movie.

  • Mourinho arrogant & confident :)

  • Im a Kiwi and im sorry to you whinging Poms but we also call it Soccer sometimes.

  • youtube started ignore embed videos, so give it dislike.

  • cant believe people are having these arguments about the name football/soccer. it is football, and americans can fuk off, we should just start calling their sport some random name.. but really, the seriousness of these comments makes me laugh

  • haha idiots

  • If she kept her mouth shut shed be a tasty bint!

  • Cant understand why this movie is being promoted in America.Given their interest in Soccer will any one go and see it.No great action scenes(at least not for the Americans)and no computer generated images,or special effects.how long would it hold their interest im asking myself.Incidentally im a Kiwi and we sometimes call it Soccer too!Sorry.

  • The name "soccer" was actually invented by the English - it's derived from "AsSOCiation Football." Really sick of Americans getting slagged off for using "Soccer" when the word CAME from the Brits.

  • @Andraste77 Even if the term "soccer" did originate in England, which is arguable (I could say London is actually in Canada) it dosen't mean it is used here. If 2 Americans started calling american football handegg and then Canada started calling it Handegg but no other Americans called it that should football be called handegg from then on. Also it isn't Manchester United soccer club, it isn't Arsenal soccer club, it isnt Soccer Club Barcelona, it's Football, Football Club Barcelona ect.

  • @98raza20 - I don't care.

  • @Andraste77 i don't care but you seam insistent to use that horrible yank word, "soccer"

  • @98raza20 - to be honest, I rarely ever USE the word "soccer." I happen to live in the U.S. where there is a game called football that creates confusion if I insist on using 'football' for what you guys call 'football.' I wish it were different, but there it is.

Actually I avoid the confusion by calling UK Football 'footie,' and American football 'football.' I can't help where I live, and I can only use the language at hand as precisely as I can to avoid confusion.

  • @Andraste77 when you say "Uk football" you should actually say "everywhere outside of the US and Canada football"

  • @98raza20 - Okay, Good one. But who has time? When I say FOOTIE, I mean "soccer." When I say 'football' I mean American football. Two syllables each, saves confusion. If I ever visit the UK again I won't need to differentiate in this way. But in my everyday life, I can't be offering an explanation every time I say "Football" in a country where "football" means AMERICAN football. Can we move on now?

  • @Andraste77 I've been trying to explain this to folks for years mate... waste of time really.... folks would rather mouth of at the Yanks than actually learn where the word came from... us Brits invented it like we invented "rugger" for rugby.... but it's like talking to a plank explaining it....

  • @JohnPersonage - Right - in a competitive field of choices for things to slag off the yanks about, and deservedly so, people are going to choose this? I don't understand the vitriol - it doesn't take anything away from the game, and if people know what you mean, why get so fired up? There are much more important things to worry about.

  • could some people please send me awesome football movies please :) and for the american's i mean soccermovies .

  • American "football" is really just like rugby just for girls. "Soccer" IS Football Fact.

  • go gala reds

  • What the fuck is soccer ?

    İts basic FOOTBALL

  • fantastic movie!

  • oh my god...can someone please kick that bitch off the screen...fuckin yanks with their soccer shit...ITS FOOTBALL!! THE BEST SPORT IN THE WORLD!

  • @LavaBaer check goal 2

do us a favor .... when you see the one who calls football soccer ..... tell him hes shaaaite

  • "Football club as it's often called"

No Leeds United Football Club is what it is ALWAYS called because that is its blooming name.

  • nothings worse than a yank talking about football!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheGerger12 Whats worse than the Yanks talk about soccer? Other than the ENglish not being able to play it as well as they think they should?

Who finished top of the WC group? Hmmmmmmm... :D

No one owns the game no matter how much of a fuss you all kick up.

    *gwen*

  • fuck off u yank bastards I am a leeds fan so fuck of. Don revie for the win.

  • @deespacedanny I will say Don was a good manager but Clough had a fair point in criticising them..... they did cheat and fight loads to get their trophies. but what the hell MOT!

  • 'Soccer coach' and spoken in an American accent- crap.

  • To all angry residents of the UK and world: "Soccer" is a British term. It's a shortening of the term Association Football. As rugby players are called "rugger" some England player called himself a "soccer" and coined the term. So blame the Brits.

Also the most popular football magazine is called World soccer and is based in London.

Im surprised since YOU all invented the game that you didnt know that.

    gwen

    PS this movie is Awesome!!!

  • @techygrrlkush thankyou. about time someone put these US bashing pricks in their place. I too wondered where the term soccer came from, and it's the word I use for it all the time. Thanks for sharing this

  • lolz EVERY british person that watched this video is now angry that some idiotic american bird called it soccer ><.....

damn yanks...dont know fuck all about english ''footbal''

  • Well you all did coin the term soccer...so now you're going to have to deal wit it when we use it. :P

    gwen

  • @sandenus no, and the english don't know fuck all about how to win the world cup anymore either. How many was it that Germany put passed them this time? At least the US played with passion and they ain't even primarily a soccer nation

  • "or football club as its sometimes called." Sod off, its IS Leeds United Football Club, not Leeds united soccer club. Its called football because you use your feet, so American Football which is mainly about hands, can go sod off

  • Go Leeds

  • as an american footy fan, i obviously knew very little about the legend of brian clough. after watching this i had to know more about the man. awesome movie. i liked it even if some liberties were taken within the movie.

  • Her voice and Accent.. and pronunciation IS FUCKING WOEFUL..

  • @sefgrt Ikr, "The Daaayyyuuummmeed Yuuuuunoyted" :/

  • @Jeffo193 She clearly didn't research ANYTHING to do with 'Soccer' before she read that off the autocue.... doesn't appear that she did a pre-broadcast run either. Amateurs..

  • im glad they chose saltergate. :d haha

  • I am an American and football (soccer) is my passion and I hate it when stupid bitches like this one call it soccer or football club in this one. She really sounds like a retard when she talks.

  • Dude Im not dissing Americans in general, just dumb idiots like this one

  • yeah i know, im just askin whether you know of him.

  • yep hes awesome reminds alot of us leeds fan as alan smith!

  • He doesn't remind me of him. Let's hope grella doesn't betray our trust like Alan did. It looks like automatic promotion is beckoning this season for the mighty whites! Do you think we'll go up?

  • if you don't go up this season, you'll stay in the league 1 forever.

  • I know, we can't afford to be confined to a fourth season in league 1. We'll go up this season though.

  • yea well said nebojsa, fuckin americans calling it soccer! what a disgrace! it is FOOTBALL

  • @NebojsaNovakovic - Have you watched American football? haha. If you haven't you should give it a chance. It's the greatest sport ever. There isn't a tougher sport on earth that requires more teamwork. quite the game. I love football (soccer), but American football is the best

  • @BrandonSchlepp uh i think rugby is more tougher actually.

  • @BrandonSchlepp watched american football if you want a tough team game look no further than rugby league, as for the best game it has to be non other than the beutifull game of football or as you better know it soccer

  • @BrandonSchlepp i watched this years superbowl. must say its kind of fun if you just understand the rules.. Butt stop calling it football, it should be called. Ovalhandball.! HAHA.. FOOTBALL IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER:

  • @NebojsaNovakovic yeah fuck you all its called FOOTBALL BITCHES

  • you not even from uk? plus no football is football soccer is soccer. Its copywritten wanker

  • Just seen it twice think this is the best fotball film I have ever seen.

  • what does she mean "FOOTBALL OFTEN CALLED"?only americans call it soccer and they call a game in which you don't touch the ball with your feet football *wonders why*

NO OFFENCE, THIS IS A TRUE FACT.

  • I'm a Brit-American dual national, so I know both sides of this argument. The game was originally called football because it was played ON FOOT, as opposed to being played on horseback, not because the ball is played WITH the feet. "Soccer" is originally a British term; and many other English-speaking nations call it "soccer" more commonly than football: Ireland, South Africa, Australia, Cananda, NOT just the US.

  • I'm sure the Irish call it football, other nations call it soccer since it is not the most popular sport there, Rugby is Aussie's most popular sport, Ice Hockey is Canada's sport and Cricket is SA's one.

  • The Irish use the terms interchangeably, I can check w/a mate of mine to make sure. The Cans. use the term because they have their own code of gridiron football. & in SA "football" means 15-a-side rugger. & the fact remains that we actually coined the term "soccer" & it spread fr. here to the States. So, why bag on Americans for a term that WE came up with?

  • spot on Legend, from the proverbial horses mouth!

  • Hey, thanx for the kind words, mate: now give me my oats bucket! ;D How has the New Yr. been treating you so far?

  • @miroa12004 Cricket is actually Australia's national sport.

  • @MrMarvo75

ye but it was created and started in england...we just strayed off to football and rugby

  • About time! But actually I'm surprised. I don't think it will make too much money here in the States. I've just been hoping the DVD would be available. MOT!.

  • boro boy !

  • How in the hell did Clough only get capped twice by England?

  • because he wasn't good enough at the time

  • Do you mean that Ol' Big 'Ead wasn't good enough for England as a manager or a player?

  • well you only get caps for playing mate, sort it out, and aside from that no obviously not as a manager because he was the greatest england manager there never was

  • Yeah, I just wasn't sure what u meant in your last post.

  • he retired when he was in his mid twenties.

  • Yes, I know, mate: Cloughie also faced a real dog fight w/the likes of Jimmy Greaves, John Ayteo, Roger Hunt, Geoff Hurst, Peter Osgood, etc., for a place at forward during his England career. Playing outside of the top flight also didn't do him any favours & he was also available during the late days of the inter. sel. comm., IIRC.

  • ye cuz he had a leg injury and couldnt play anymore

  • I just watched this dvd!! its already out in Ireland and probably the UK!! haha!!

  • Looks like its done in UK so its probably better than 3/4 of all American movies.

  • @ThePlannedEscape- yeah, except for the fact that movies were invented in America. haha. and most of the greatest movies ever made...were made by Americans. haha. Sorry the USA controls the majority of the world's media

  • @BrandonSchlepp My point still stands regardless of what you said 3/4 of the stuff coming out of US if not more, is rubbish. You could have invent it, you could control most of it, but the majority of what you make regarding good quality entertainment content of it is shit. Why would you make a completely irrelevant points about your countries superiority in controlling media? when i clearly was not talking about that in my original comment. You proved nothing, now go put some pants on redneck.

  • @ThePlannedEscape- obviously so many movies are crap. With quantity you lose quality. But America also puts out most of the really good movies you see too. That's all I'm saying. You are right, we are responsible for the crap that comes out of Hollywood, but there's also some good stuff out there

  • @BrandonSchlepp Hello idiot sorry i just couldn't let your stupid uninformed comment go. I have to correct you. The cinema was not invented in America as much as it pains me as a brit the most accurate truth on who invented it is the french. The Lumiere Bros 1895. Were the first shortly followed less than 2 months later by an englishman Birt Acres. Also Dilm editing was invented by a frenchman Georges Melies in ~Jan 1900. If you were thinking of Edison you were wrong that's a much since proven

  • @BrandonSchlepp myth. As for most of the great movies you may be right. Except that with genius of other nations filmmakers Hollywood wouldn't half as good as it is. German Expressionism, Hitchcock, Sergio Leone, Italian cinema in general without which plus hitcock there would be no slasher movies. I could go on and on some of hollywoods greatest actors have been british or Australian. Plus most of the best American actors benifited school ideas originating from outside America.

  • @BrandonSchlepp And as for America controlling the majority of the world's media. Who owns most of the American media. Murdock. An Aussie.

  • Woah... this is out on DVD in Ireland & the UK already.... :P

  • im only going to see it because its got 2 people from harry potter in :)

  • doesnt Micheal Sheen play Aro in New Moon??

  • yh he does

  • loserrr

  • Brian Clough was one of the most entertaining and unpredictable managers in football history - I think it will be hard for many US viewers to appreciate what a good portrayal Michael Sheen does here, and what a funny, flawed and tragic character Clough was without knowing the back story. Even so, it's a good movie - came out in the UK some time ago and was well liked, much like Cloughie himself :)

  • this looks bad...

  • No offence but you are 14 and this type of film is definitely not aimed at you.

  • I agree with you

  • cheesy ending joslyn

  • movie shnoob. =]

  • Amasing film. It was released in Europe a while back.
