from what i understood.. his only dream in life was to fly so he spent his life putting trees on the side of that cliff so it would look like the rest of the world, and he jumped off knowing he would die(its a cliff) and he just wanted to know what it felt like to fly before he died. i think thats really sad :( but at least he died happy
