Ich selbst bin jetzt schon seit 4 Monaten im Senegal, mit tausend Vorurteilen angekommen und seh jetzt Schritt für Schritt, dass Afrika genauso komplex ist wie Europa was Politik, Jugendkultur, einfach alles, angeht.
Viele "Tubaps" (Europäer) werden hier belächelt wenn sie ankommen, weil sie eben so verdammt unwissend und großkotzig sind wenn sie ankommen.
Im Krankenhaus sind die Leute wie in Deutschland rund um die Uhr am arbeiten, ich mach mein Praktikum da, dann kommt so ein Arzt aus Deutschland daher mit einem Gerät das er eigentlich schon zum Schrott geben wollte, ohne Anleitung und fühlt sich noch wie der große Gönner.. Fängt dann den genauso ausgebildeten Schwestern an, die einfachsten Prozesse zu erklären, kein Wunder, dass sie sich darüber lustig machen.
Ist halt so, dass Leute beschränkte Sichtweisen haben, aber ein Repräsentant Deutschlands wie Günther Jauch sollte besser Bescheid wissen.
Hier wissen die Leute wenigstens, die intelligenteren versteht sich, wer wann in Europa die Wahlen gewonnen hat, was es wichtiges Neues gibt.
Was weiss man in Europa? Die armen Kinder in den Slums.. (in Afrika sind sich die Leute auch nicht über die Situation der Arbeitslosen hier im Bilde) aber wer wo Präsident ist, bei welcher Partei, nicht.

The comment could, however, be based simply on more information that he has and we don't--e.g., about Sara's family in Ethiopia, etc. After all, Sara agrees with him right away!
In other words: Yes, the comment *could* be problematic. But by saying that it *is* problematic, you are just as biased (against him) as you claim he is (against Ethiopia). Oops. :o)

I think african people should not feel displeased because people in Europe say that Africa has some really serious problems. Its a fact that Africa has big problems but most people dont say this to despise Africans !
In 1984 there was a big famine (lack of food) in Ethiopia.
We didnt have something like that in Germany since war time.
But I understand that it doesnt feel good when people always pity you. It seems to say: "You cant make it yourself !".
But people dont mean it like that.

Ich habe das große Glück, eine deutsch-senegalesische, gut situierte , supernette Familie zu kennen, die mir einiges klar gemacht hat. Viele Europäer haben gar nicht die Chance, mehr zu erfahren weil sie nicht mal die Sprache des Landes sprechen, in das sie reisen.

Was manche Europäer für ne beschränkte Sicht von Afrika haben ist unfassbar. Nur weil Afrika am geringsten entwickelt ist, sind nicht alle Straßenkinder... Die TOuristen stellen sich immer nur zu den Fischern, machen ein paar Fotos um ihren Verwandten dann erzählen zu können :"Ich hab ein Abenteuer gemacht", sie laufen da rum wie die Retter der Welt dabei sind sie grade mal Bankangestellte..

Ich selbst bin jetzt schon seit 4 Monaten im Senegal, mit tausend Vorurteilen angekommen und seh jetzt Schritt für Schritt, dass Afrika genauso komplex ist wie Europa was Politik, Jugendkultur, einfach alles, angeht.
Viele "Tubaps" (Europäer) werden hier belächelt wenn sie ankommen, weil sie eben so verdammt unwissend und großkotzig sind wenn sie ankommen.

Im Krankenhaus sind die Leute wie in Deutschland rund um die Uhr am arbeiten, ich mach mein Praktikum da, dann kommt so ein Arzt aus Deutschland daher mit einem Gerät das er eigentlich schon zum Schrott geben wollte, ohne Anleitung und fühlt sich noch wie der große Gönner.. Fängt dann den genauso ausgebildeten Schwestern an, die einfachsten Prozesse zu erklären, kein Wunder, dass sie sich darüber lustig machen.

Ist halt so, dass Leute beschränkte Sichtweisen haben, aber ein Repräsentant Deutschlands wie Günther Jauch sollte besser Bescheid wissen.
Hier wissen die Leute wenigstens, die intelligenteren versteht sich, wer wann in Europa die Wahlen gewonnen hat, was es wichtiges Neues gibt.
Was weiss man in Europa? Die armen Kinder in den Slums.. (in Afrika sind sich die Leute auch nicht über die Situation der Arbeitslosen hier im Bilde) aber wer wo Präsident ist, bei welcher Partei, nicht.
