Another thing you can do if you've beaten the game once is keep the clothes that Link started out in instead of his traditional green outfit when you replay the game. I've never tried it since I don't have the game, but that's what I've heard.

You can actually stay on the platform up there and keep your swingshot out and leave it aiming on where the tail will be so you can swing right away. That way, you don't get hit. Then when it's armor is destroyed, you can jump back down and kick it's ass. :D

You don't have to jump down from the ledge after the boss gets hit with the huge circular block thing. You can just stay up there and go from ledge to ledge, I believe. I'm pretty sure you can get away with doing that, if my memory serves correctly.

There is a really cheap way to beat this boss. On the third swing on Valoo's tail, land on a platform. Then lock on and when Gohma pops up to burn your platform, whack him with the Gtrappling Hook. He drops down for a while, then pops back up. The Grappling Hook deals a little damage. It's slower, but foolproof (and really cheap.)
