I can't believe how this is even a topic for discussion. Being a Christian enable us to be fully human. You can SING about ANYTHING you want to sing about. If you are a Christian, doubtless you would not want to put profanity or unhealthy lyrics in your songs. But you can SING or PLAY MUSIC for personal gain - of course! Man I stumbled upon this video RIGHT ON TIME! Just today I had a dear friend and talented singer in the studio. I asked her to help me complete a song that I was going to shop, not for myself, but to sell to another artist. Her response to me was that she liked the song but did not want to be a part of it because it did not speak about God. REALLY????? This was a SIMPLE love song. It was not NASTY, DISRESPECTFUL, LUDE or any of the other things typically associated with todays secular music.
Since WHEN are Christians CONFINED to only singing about God. That would mean that Carpenters should ONLY build churches or painters should ONLY paint religious paintings. I preached a message 2 weeks ago titled, "What do you have, Religion or Relationship?" PJ, you hit the nail on the head. I believe that we can do love songs but they should be inspirational for the most part. Because Solomon had many wives and they had too him away from his God. As we follow Christ There are going to be critics. Jesus didnt say a word on the way to the cross, because He knew who He was. It upsets people when we choose not to defend the rightousness of Christ.

I myself am a spoken word artist and I do A lot of christian poems as well as poems that tells stories that have positive messages. Many Christian go out and support Tyler Perry movies where there is violence, and drama and all types of stuff. but the ultimate message of his movies are positive and have good messages. I write Love Poems out of love why can't I express that feeling and why can't I express that feeling with other people who probably can relate?
There are many songs on hate, violence, lust, money, sin and we need more positive songs.
I know if I'm having a romantic evening with my wife I would prefer to have something smooth subtle and romantic... Worship and praise has is place and there is nothing wrong with that music, its my favorite music to listen to.

My favorite part of this video was when he read Mark 12: 38-40. That is too true. When people get that -oh-so-special title with their name they get ahead of themselves. You say you'd love it if there was a genre called "good music" or "quality music" @ 3:04. Perhaps you can start THAT genre so that others who would like to sing clean biblical love songs can follow suit. Man, you'd go down in history if you could start that movement. So, it's hard to avoid that kind of music.. it's all around you. And plus, you enjoy R&B.. BUT you can make a conscious decision NOT to endorse that, but endorse music like PJs instead..
The important questions to ask are what are the intentions of the person who's delivering the music.. what message are they sending? and are the lyrics to their music in opposition to God's word, and/or inappropriate?
I feel like your R&B can't be compared to secular artists.. and I don't think your music is secular.. And R&B isn't necessarily bad.. R&B stands for rhythm and blues.. it's a genre of music, and that's really all it is.. it shouldn't be associated with religion, nor perversion.. I dunno why people give it an evil connotation.. Just as gospel serves a purpose, R&B does also.. It has it's place in our lives..

Man I stumbled upon this video RIGHT ON TIME! Just today I had a dear friend and talented singer in the studio. I asked her to help me complete a song that I was going to shop, not for myself, but to sell to another artist. Her response to me was that she liked the song but did not want to be a part of it because it did not speak about God. REALLY????? This was a SIMPLE love song. It was not NASTY, DISRESPECTFUL, LUDE or any of the other things typically associated with todays secular music.

As we follow Christ There are going to be critics. Jesus didnt say a word on the way to the cross, because He knew who He was. It upsets people when we choose not to defend the rightousness of Christ.
You know who you are and thats all that matters. As musicians and singers our job is to clear a direct path for the word, to soften the heart, so that when the word arrives that song might be the only window of peace for God to speak. Winning back the art of ministering music, everbody not ready!!

I myself am a spoken word artist and I do A lot of christian poems as well as poems that tells stories that have positive messages. Many Christian go out and support Tyler Perry movies where there is violence, and drama and all types of stuff. but the ultimate message of his movies are positive and have good messages. I write Love Poems out of love why can't I express that feeling and why can't I express that feeling with other people who probably can relate?

I know if I'm having a romantic evening with my wife I would prefer to have something smooth subtle and romantic... Worship and praise has is place and there is nothing wrong with that music, its my favorite music to listen to.
But I prefer loves song when having a date or spending time with the wife.

You say you'd love it if there was a genre called "good music" or "quality music" @ 3:04. Perhaps you can start THAT genre so that others who would like to sing clean biblical love songs can follow suit. Man, you'd go down in history if you could start that movement. I personaly dont believe you can have R&B yet still keep the lyrics Christ oriented for there is nothing "Blue" about the Word of God. The Word brings life and joy & only gloom (The Blues) to those that dont follow its command.

Truly your heart is the indicator. God knows what he has placed in us. The love we share with our spouses can not be expressed in gospel music. That is to honor God and God gives us the space to honor our spouses through our actions and words. When I hear lyrics like the ones for invented sex, which are too explicit for many listeners, and which come from an unmarried man, I know it's not right to endorse.. when ur a christian, ur conscience gives u signals about things, even when ur unsure.. So, it's hard to avoid that kind of music.. it's all around you. And plus, you enjoy R&B.. BUT you can make a conscious decision NOT to endorse that, but endorse music like PJs instead..

Love songs are from God. It's all about content. PJ Morton's songs are very respectful to women and very clean and inexplicit. Get a life. If you want souls won for Christ, then GO OUT AND WIN THEM. Cause the last time I check, the creator of YOUTUBE ISNT SAVED EITHER but yet you're still supporting his invention!!!!!

For those who have a problem with songs that dont' "glorify" God, stop singing the Happy Birthday Song, Wish you a merry Christmas, National Anthem, Dont let your children sing Dora the Explorer, Elmo's world or anything else. I've been in ministry for 22 yrs. You people are FOOLISH!

Man, trying to please some church folk is like trying to tell a Muslim that Jesus Christ is in essence God. I don't find any fault in singing about love. You have a gift and you should use it to the glory of God...not to be intimidated into doing what "religious" people want you to do. There are more pastures that God desires for you. Don't let people stop what God is doing in and through your life.

Tye Tribbett can't throw stones at you! Seems like to me, he has the spirit of the Pharisees. Now look at how he's been exposed because of his affair. How can he throw stones at you! I love love songs and I needed an alternative to what's out there! God is love so it is natural to sing about it to him and to someone special. It's a no brainer! Don't matter though. Keep doing what you're doing and keep living right!
