  • well..since my last post on here...(long time ago) I now have my own chickens! I have 2 in my back yard. One is a Rhode Island Red and the other is a Dominickeer ...Both are Hens. They give me an average of 3 eggs a day between them both. I love em dearly! I care for them..they receive vitamins and electrolytes in their water can and get whole kernel corn (2 fists full a day) and laying mesh crumble to eat on . Once in a while I will place a piece of fruit in there with them. I love em.

  • Ok, I am certainly not a vegan. But things like this are exactly why I have a free range flock of chickens. My hens are free from situations like this and there are no roosters so the eggs I collect are never fertilized. It is amazingly cost effective to own your own small flock of free rangers.

  • Absolute WICKEDNESS! We must do something about this... we are living in the 21st Century for goodness sake! THIS CRUELTY MUST STOP! In the UK we have a new law about to come into effect which outlaws Battery Hen Cages and enforces the use of Enrichment Cages. Sadly this is going to put many farmers out of business & we have the situation where Muslims are about to take over these businesses with Start Up Grants from the Government that our existing Chicken Farmers are not entitled to. ACT NOW!

  • @P0TSP0TTER Honestly I can say I am not sorry any chicken farmers are put out of business. Whether using Enrichment Cages or not they are still in the business of enslavement and murder. Enslavement and murder of any kind done to any race, religion or species is immoral.

  • choose vag dot org

  • the way they kill chickens by snapping their neck is not inhumane in any fashion. what exactly would make a humane death for chickens? cutting off their heads? what makes this horrifying is the way they treat the animals prior to their death. no living thing should have to be put through that.

  • What gives us the right? Really, what gves us the right to use animals for our profit?!

  • we don't live in a civilized society...humans are in trouble and don't even know it

  • AHIMSA

  • chicken need to be out side walking free fresh air clean water this is not farming, In a building in a cage in with dead chicken rats is not farming, its suffering of the animal, and they should be a shame of them selves for this shit. My Grandfather was a good great farmer.

  • The people responsible for this should be imprisoned. I hope they pay for the inhumane way they're treated these innocent animals.

  • You can break your neck and not die...

  • The "struggling" of the bird after neck broken is a dead nerve response. The bird does not feel it.

  • @haymarketmassacre The bird doesn't feel after it is dead? OK great but the bird feels as it is being killed. And the bird feels and suffers through the conditions it has to live in.

  • @haymarketmassacre People have become unaware of what it takes to eat meat. I lived on a farm, I butchered. Death is part of life. I will probably suffer more than any of the animals I have killed. I accept this.

If you really object, lock your self in a room, and become a vegetable. The world will pass you by.

  • Even though this video uploaded a year ago... do they still do this crap to chickens? Because my dad just bough two dozen of eggs from Norco and it says on their product that the hens were cage free... is this true? I'm not eating their eggs if they're lying.

  • "Cage free" or "free range" give people the impression that the chickens are treated well. This is not true at all. After reading your comment NukeTheMongoose, I went and found a video to share with you that talks about "cage free" or "free range". Please check it out.

  • I saw it... and its so cruel...

Is there a single farm that actually has free range chickens?

  • I am sure there's a farm that has chickens that aren't abused and slaughtered, but that would have to be a regular family's small farm. The eggs available to most all of us come from chickens that live and die in horrible places. I very much appreciate how you want to do the right thing. Unfortunately all animals products available come from tortured animals that are slaughtered. Even the dairy cow is slaughtered. They take the sweet innocent calves from those dairy cows and turn them into veal.

  • That's why I stopped drinking milk. Its the egg thing I'm still thinking about... I guess I have no other choice but to completely stop eating eggs or get some chickens of my own... but I don't think my parents will allow that.

This maybe a little out of subject, but your name is quite funny xD

  • So do you eat beef, chicken and fish?

And I am glad my name amuses you. :-)

  • No I'm a vegetarian at least ^^; I've been one for a year I think, but I stopped eating poultry at a very young age because I love birds so much.

And maybe I am high, lol.

  • I hope you go vegan but it is cool that you are vegetarian.

    :-)

  • I know I'll be a vegan! I thought becoming a vegetarian was impossible, but here I am... :D

  • @NukeTheMongoose cage free doesnt mean anything, there may not be cages which are only big enough for the chicken, but they are stuffed into large overcrowded rooms with little to no moving space, they might as well be in a cage.

  • This Video disgusts me to no end. This treatment is despicable. Their eyes look so sad or dead already. Man only cares about THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR !!!!

  • The human species is THE SINGLE MOST DANGEROUS species to EVER walk the face of this Earth. A time will come when humans run out of options due to their own egotistic and greedy need - end of species. The Earth and its life will carry on very happily without us.

  • After seeing this I will never buy eggs again. I am going to buy some egg layers and give them a good life in my backyard. They will have plenty of food and water and plenty of room to roam.

  • Sorry, but everthing that lives...dies. Before lethal injection was invented, what do you think was the kindest way for ANY living thing to meet its end? The animals that sustain us should be given a decent life and a quick humane death. The life and death factiory farm animals endure is shameful. How can we call ourselves civilized when we are so cruel to the animals that give us nourishment?

  • your comments in support of this is appalling. therefore if it doesn't bother you .....you will have no problem being a victim of it. via disease in this life or being one of them in your next life

  • when they spin there heads around they are dead its there nervs making them move.when you cut the head off a chicken it will runn without a head

  • Why he twist their head around?

  • you don't need to eat meat to get protein...nuts, beans, legumes, etc... are all high in protein...if you are planning on going vegetarian or vegan, talk to someone who actually has made the transition...a few of you should read a book or two before making such idiotic comments...human bodies are designed for a vegan diet, not to be meat eaters...

  • Meat is fine to eat and perfectly healthy. Yeah sometimes the slaughter is inhumane, so that's why you make sure they were slaughtered in a humane way. Humans are on the top of the food chain so we can still eat meat.

  • people its called circle of life

  • fuck the circle of life, we were meant to be VEGETARIANS asswipe, look it up

  • @logicCplusplus then why do we have both canines and molars?

  • There is no reason to become a vegan, and no, its not healthy, its inconvenient. This is horrible, there is a better way, but becoming a vegan is not that way. 3oz of meat has so much concentrated nutrient, look it up, and I've seen plants where the cows go to get themselves milked by a machine harmlessly, its great. These plants need to be reformed, not destroyed. Lets just face it, eating everything is healthy, even chickens, so lets do it the humane way and reform the plants like this one

  • Danezimus, you say being vegan isn't healthy and then say 'look it up'. Well obviously you haven't looked anything up. I have studied nutrition for over 20 years and a vegan diet is healthy. It's easy to make baseless statements on the internet. You have proven that by your comment.

  • I like meet, i dont like this meet

  • i almost want to start eating jew meat, kosher stuff. the jews that produce that meat take care of the animals and are sure to painlessly kill them via throat with a razor sharp blade. and it gets magical jew blessings too!

  • daletronzero: look up Earthlings... it shows kosher ain't always that kosher... far from it.

  • Humane slaughter is the way to go. I can't get enough protein in a vegan or vegetarian diet - I've tried. I eat meat and enjoy it quite a bit, but I ensure my meat comes from places that raise and slaughter their animals in a humane way.

  • I'm vegetarian after this.

  • wow ! I had no idea! I love chicken but hate the abuse they are obviously suffering. I know that most of you guys are vegetarian or vegans but I am not. I say that just to say that there HAS TO BE a middle of the road position between you guys and I. Can you offer any position of compromise?

  • From my point of view I am sorry to say there is no middle ground. I appreciate your sympathy for the chickens. But even if they weren't living through such horrific conditions, the bottom line is in the end they get killed. And in my very strong opinion, killing is wrong. Plus there is no need. Humans thrive on a vegan diet. We were brought up eating animals that's why many have a hard time getting away from it. I ate meat for 28 years so I do understand. Anyway, thanks for your comment. Peace

  • We do need to kill them for food. What if we have a bad harvest year and there's not enough tofu to go around? Mass starvation so the chickens can cluck around a yard for 3 years until they die of some horrible disease which will probably leave them on their side waiting to die for a week?

Everything dies. A 2-3 second neck break is not cruel. It's better than most people will get.

  • I suggest stronger laws against the abuse of animals. I don't think there is anything wrong with killing an animal for food but the way they are treated here is horrid.

  • I have seen so many of these types of videos, and it never gets easier to watch this kind of footage. Animals used for food and profit can feel just like any other creature, and their suffering is so overwhelming that sometimes I wish I could erase humanity forever.

I have been vegetarian since birth, I plan to go vegan soon, and I am proud to say I do not support the egg industry at all. The only eggs I eat are those laid by my wonderful, happy bantams who are loved and spoiled.

  • pacificpikachu, if you ever need any info to assist you in becoming vegan please just send me a message. For instance if you need nutrition facts, product suggestions or help on finding vegan and/or vegan friendly restaurants in your area.

  • Thank you! I think I'm going to see what books I can find in the library on veganism and do more research before I make the switch officially, but I'm glad I eat only a minimum of dairy products to begin with, and as I said, the only eggs I eat are those of my own happy, beloved chicken friends. My only quandary really is that I love ice cream so much. I suppose there's always sherbet and sorbet, though, and vegan alternatives! I'm taking the switch a little slowly, but I'm determined. Thanks!

  • OMG there are tons of delicious ice cream alternatives. Do you have a Whole Foods Market in your area? There are ice creams made from, soy, rice and coconut. Most of which taste like real ice cream. My favorite is the ones made by Purely Decadent. They make both soy and also coconut based ice creams. I swear you will not know the difference. I love the mint chocolate chip.

  • i couldn't watch this after 45 secs, if i ever met a person who did this i would not be responsible for my actions.. when ppl do this, they don't ever think about what is goin on in the mind of the victim. something similar to:

"OUCH, IM FUCKING DIEING, YOU FUCK."

a human being in that same situation would panic to a fuckin greater extent because we acknowledge death and think about it on a daily basis, (ty c.s.i)

Fuck animal abusers, this makes me want to go vegan. btw fuck hunting for sport.

  • Well said!

But, don't "want to go vegan", just go vegan!

    :-)

Every dollar people spend on animal products, including eggs and milk products, pays for the extreme suffering and death of these poor creatures.

If there is any way I can assist you in becoming vegan please PM me and I will.

  • What could i say more?...

    Go vegan damn it !!!

  • If you have any trouble with going vegan or have any questions, feel free to send me a message! I'd love to help you out in any way that I can!

  • That's wonderful!! You don't know how happy that makes me!

The "Four Problems of Animal Welfare" is actually an article online, not a book. Just google it and you can give it a read whenever you have time!

What do you mean by 5 people?

  • this is exactly why i only buy cage free eggs and from local farms. it's more expensive, but it's not only cruelty free... it's better for you! you may think that it's more expensive... but all the health complications you're sure to acquire over the years from eating cheap, chemically altered foods. It's better for EVERYONE to spend the extra dollar and get organic/cage free eggs if you chose to eat eggs at all.

  • Animal exploitation is never cruelty-free. Exploiting someone and treating them as a commodity is cruel in itself, whether the enslaved animal is excessively physically abused or not.

Please read the Four Problems of Animal Welfare: In a Nutshell, by Gary Francione.

    --------------------------

    Stop speciesism! Go vegan!

  • If you cannot take the vegan plunge, then at least know where your food comes from and try to remain conscious everytime you shop! Doing something is better than doing nothing at all.

We buy organic raw milk from a local farm, and we get our eggs from there as well (and butter, and honey:)

Buying locally allows us to actually visit the source of our nutrition. It is obvious that they are living in clean, organic harmony with the farmer and the farm; very happy & very healthy too....

  • yes we're so civilized that we now have smog, poisoned our water and the earth because of men just like you saying hate me all you want, I wanna get rich. And by the time the earth goes to shit, I'll be long gone, except we're still here aren't we grazida. So while you don't care if it's not in your back yard you should consider this, we are all connected and this will end up in your backyard in one form or another.

  • all this is going to do is move these companies out of california into other states while increasing the price of food. suffering will be transfer from a few animal to many people.

  • First of all, it's not a few animals. This happens on a daily basis. So you are saying the illegal and immoral abuse that is going on should be overlooked?

  • I dont understand why anyone would kill just for food..

Even if the animals were treated fine, Killing is never humane..

  • I agree with you. Humane killing is an oxymoron.

Welfarism doesn't do anywhere near enough for animals - abolitionism does.

    ABOLISH animal slavery.

Demand empty cages, not bigger ones.

Demand NO chains, not longer ones.

    ---------------------

    Stop speciesism! Go vegan!

  • Definatly, Veganism will save the world.

Especialy with the meat industry coursing more green house gases then everything else put together!

  • We do the same thing to our own unborn

  • eee yucks. if they want to slaughter it they can at the very least do it professionally- quick, efficient and as painless as possible.

  • no but they have been treating animals better and now they r going to have to pay more money on the animals and plus if u can't afford the price bcuz of the gas and food price issue u would also loose ur pet becuz u can't afford for it to have all that space to run or anything ya i no its sad but u could treat them better

  • Lemme finish by asking people this...

Do you wanna work in filthy conditions, smelling the foul stench of rotting decay, hearing the ongoing screams of dying, injured animals, potientinally risking your health and having to do the worst job of all, ending the life of a creature already suffering?

Humans on factory farms are not all horrible, the coniditions are terrible for animals and humans alike...all for profit!!!!

  • shinyponie~ Yes! Great points. Hooray for prop 2! It's not a huge difference for the animals, but it's a start... and one that agribusiness finally lost for once. I'm hoping it's the first domino.

  • By treating animals like objects, the effects cause damage to animal health, their welfare, their lifespan and ability to produce better produce for human consumption

    This in turn affects humans...how?

    Pollution

    Disease Spread

    Dangers and injury risks

Loss of jobs (highest rates are in slaughterhouses)

A decline in lifespan for animals means the pressure is placed on breeding through artifical means

Poor hygeine leads to bacteria and disease such as the bird flu, due to battery cages

  • Bull shit...people wont loose their jobs,

By helping industries create more hygenic, animal friendly and user friendly factories, your helping the workers...

For example, the process of slitting suspended cows or pigs can be dangerous for workers, painful for the animal and grotesque, both sides loose!

In fact, slaughterhouses are extremly dangerous, having a high injury rate and exit rate for workers, why?

BECAUSE CONDITIONS ARE POOR, not just for animals, but the workers too!!!!

  • jessica: I don't know who was filling your head with those silly ideas but no, you won't be losing your pets because of prop 2, it has nothing to do with your pets. Read it and you'll see.

  • This is only 1 ranch.. Not all egg ranches are the same. I know of at least one big farm and most of their chickens are all Cage or Range Free. And the caged ones are not that crowded. And they do not kill them like the ranch shown and vet care is taken care of. The ranch shown should be accountable for that actions of they employees.

  • Slater: "Vet care is taken care of?" What exactly do you mean by that?

And as for "The caged ones are not that crowded", as you say, what do you consider "crowded"? The cages only allow chickens 52 square inches apiece, less than a standard sheet of paper, which doesn't even give them space to stretch out one wing. If this is "not that crowded" to you, I wonder what you consider would be.

  • so sad.. thanks for uploading this and thanks to mercy for animals for the undercover investigation

  • WE the people can stop this. We can demand this we can take this video to the Humane Society...where are they why isn't animal protection groups there. I work with many groups..Pleas we must get this video out for people to see the truth. The truth must be seen by all.

  • this is the very reason i raise free range chickens. none are slaugtered ,we just collect the eggs and watch them wander around. very happy chickens

  • This is so sad, if they were treated in a really nice way and just put to sleep with a gentle injection would you eat meat???

    **********************************************

    I couldnt live without meat!

    ************************************************

why dont u vegans eat milk or eggs and stuff.... ITS JUST LIKE HUMANS HAVING BABIES! if the chiken didnt lay eggs then they would explode, if the cow didnt produce milk it would freakin explode and so on!!

  • To answer your first question, you can't eat any animal that has been euthanised by injection, it would have a high amount of the drug still in it.

As for the rest: we're not asking chickens to stop laying eggs or cows to stop producing milk. We only ask that they be treated with the respect and compassion they deserve as fellow inhabitants of Earth, and until they are, we are not going to support the cruelty that takes place on factory farms by buying such products.

    Please read about it.

  • no, but they arent treated in a cruel way when laying eggs and when cows produce milk!

  • Um, are you kidding? The cruelty is incredible. Everybody who knows anything about real farms knows that. Please, like I said, read about it. Or just look at some Youtube videos on it... plug in "dairy farm cruelty", or chicken farms,... you get the idea.

My point is, you couldn't be more wrong if you think chickens and cows are not treated badly on today's farms.

  • BanWolfHunting says: "My point is, you couldn't be more wrong if you think chickens and cows are not treated badly on today's farms."

I think you should make the distinction between FACTORY farms and hobby farms. My grandfather had a small farm and his chickens ran all over the place, free to leave the coop at will, they weren't caged up. There is a difference.

  • lunadnm: Well, yes, of course the little hobby farms aren't as bad as factory farms. But they are a TINY, tiny fraction of the billions of nonhuman animals held in factory farms worldwide.

I might add, the "advances" in agribusiness made by the U.S. and U.K. are being exported around the world... to our great shame. We are going to be responsible for more animal suffering globally than everything else combined, including laboratories, fur farms, circuses, rodeos, and all other forms of abuse.

  • Luna: Oh, by the way, I am BanWolfHunting too, in case you were wondering.

  • horsymad, cows produce milk for their babies, not for humans. they wouldnt explode if humans didnt milk them- their milk is meant for their offspring. Just like women breastfeed their babies... humans dont drink milk of many other mammals such as rats, dogs, volves, elephants, whales etc and none of these explode for that reason. So why would cows?

  • you havent really answered my question but to be honest... GOOD POINT! but... if it's there why dont u drink it? it'll only go off and then be wasted, and its the same with eggs and cheese and stuff!

  • Horsy: you are sadly in need of education of basic animal husbandry, physiology and just plain common sense. Please do a LOT of reading, then come back here and leave comments that don't demonstrate your lack of world knowledge.

  • This makes me so angry and sick, NO animal deserves to spend their whole precious life locked up in a tiny cage. if i could, i would throw the selfish people who do this to these poor chickens into cages for their whole life so they know how it feels to be one of these chickens. =( all animals deserve a good life.

  • just horrible....and sad.

  • Those poor beautiful creatures. God this makes me so angry...

    So happy I'm a vegan right now... ;__;

  • This is so sad. Humans are responsible for the slaughter of so many innocent animals. I wish people would just have a conscience. I don't know how people justify this to themselves.

    ~peace~

  • What kind of disconnect exists in someone to work in these places?

Adopting a vegan diet is more than healthy for body and soul, it's direct action against the cruelty that is faced by millions of animals every year.

  • the undercover guy should have kidnapped the owner of the company and crammed him in a cage to live like his hens do. Then maybe he will realise. Free Range all the way!

  • thank you for posting this ... xoxo

  • That is one of the most digusting vids about hens I've ever seen. Can they be closed down?

  • Unfortunately this is mostly the norm for factory egg farms. I'd say it's very sad, but that would be a huge understatement.

  • Unfortunately there are currently no laws against this kind of brutality to farm animals in the United States (it lags shamefully far behind Europe, which has some humanitarian laws regarding the treatment of them). But California's proposition 8 will hopefully be the first such attempt to begin reforming these kind of cruel practices in America. If you are in CA please vote "yes" on prop 8.

Another way to fight this abuse is only buy eggs from humane farms-- difficult, but not impossible.

  • Ummm, Proposition 8 is the ballot initiative prohibiting gay marriage.

  • BanWolfHunting - You mean Prop 2.

Prop 8 is the gay marriage prohibition.

  • Oops, yeah, you're right. I meant 2.

  • BWH - Just wanted to make sure everyone in CA knows to Vote YES! on Prop 2 this Nov 4.

  • kskiska: YES!

  • Egg laying hens suffer the most. Please fight for them!

  • Agreed, animalliberation!

    The battery-caged hen suffers immensely.

    Free the animals!

  • This is the main reason I won't eat eggs or anything containing eggs. The secondary reason is that eggs are gross: the embryotic half-child of a female slave accompanied by rotting amniotic fluid. It's enough to make someone vomit if they haven't already from seeing what these poor hens endure. Thanks for posting. Vegan For Life!

  • OOH MY GOD, this is horrible, why are people so cruel. This is making me so very angry that i want to hurt the people in this video!!

Thanks for this video and for helping these animals

  • sweetmozart , well if everyone would just stop eating egg products then this atrocity would eventually cease.

  • I`m so sorry this is a loud to happen, we need to do all we can to get this out, can not help to wonder if these poor sick animals is passing on there illness to people, we can judges the heart of a man, by his treatment of his animals, let all work to putting a stop to this and all cruelty to innocent animals,

  • Amen to that slmwv34!

  • couldnt watch all of this found it to horrific

  • I feel you 7wolfs.

  • Very well done my friend! I am spreading this as far and wide as I can. If everyone saw this, "felt" the horror of this, the world would be a better place INSTANTLY!!!! Thank you for having the courage to post this... to see those pictures over and over in order to make the video certainly took a lot out of you! You are so brave!

  • I agree lovetoallanimals. Although I didn't make

the video. I took it from Mercy for Animal's site.

  • Excellent presentation of reality! I wish Oprah would show this.....

    Thanks for posting.

  • It would be wonderful if everyone had to sit through this. There would be a lot more vegans.

  • "It's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate; it takes guts to be gentle and kind."

  • I would ring those bastards necks myself if i could. How can people be so evil?

  • That is an excellent question GUMMERUP.

  • Because they're paid to be.

  • Always a vegan for ever and I'm so glad that Oprah had a show on regards to prop 2 in CA. Unfortunately the footage was very cleaned up and not true accuracy at all. Anything to help get rid of the killing machine that our society calls a typical average diet in the US. Thanks for your video and keep up your great work!

  • I was very excited when I heard about that Oprah show, but EXTREMELY disappointed how watered down it was. Bottom line though, it was better than nothing. Thanks for all you do too!

  • Thanks, it so tough reasoning with people and there brainwashing and non stop propaganda. I truly feel that there is something really lacking in people that makes it so disgusting that I truly wish for a new world with higher elevated thinking humans.. Best of all to you!

  • Wish i could have seen that show. It doesn't seem to be here on the tube. Thanks for this video and helping get the message out.

  • this is horrible thank you for helping these animals
