  • @gexxxi his flute just has better tone.

  • ok can anyone help me at 1:58 the trill from a''' to b''' which fingers is he using?? because my teacher taught me sth else but his sounds better..

    thx

  • I like pahud's performance better actually! of this movement, and the whole sonata!

  • This has got to by my favorite movement out of the whole entire piece,

  • I like his hair in this video :-P

  • galway's performance makes me feel like i'm on a rollercoaster, at least that part of the rollercoaster where i throw up...

  • I wonder... what type of lute is he playing?

  • @etherberg probably his 24k Nagahara

  • @XEA6L Definitely Nagahara!

  • Ma nn è un pò troppo veloce? Il brio forse è nel carattere del finale, e non nella velocità... boh,

  • What a fabulous piece of music!!!!

    Excellent performance!!!!

    Landed right in my FAVORITES

  • Philipp Moll is a fantastic pianist , great technique and touch as well as expression.Without forgetting Galway ofc!!

  • Compared to E. Pahud and S. Bezaly's performances (also on Youtube) this is the most "logical" in the sense that the musical phrasing is absolutely clear, you really think this is how it belongs. E.g. the slurs at 1:10-1:19 or the strange 2 bars starting at 1:20.

  • @kladska Check out the performance by Denis Bouriakov. I find his phrasing and style even more enjoyable than Galway's. Impressive recordings for both, no doubt, but I prefer Bouriakov's

  • Who are the three dumbasses that missed the like button???-__-

  • hahahhahah well... he got most of the notes I guess... and most was in tune.

  • sharon bezaly plays it about 100 times better

  • @gent070 If you love her so much, then why don't you marry her?

  • @65rfdfffdf OMG I WOULD IF I COULD FKIN ILY SHARON BEZALY 4 LYF XOXOXOXO

  • he is now sir james galway :)

  • Holy bejeezus.

  • he is so great! LOVE HIS LOW NOTES!!! He could have been knighted for his low notes alone!!! lol

most pro flutes now a days are being set tuned to A442, but I think he is tuning higher than that, he is pretty consistent, but higher than A440 or 442. Anybody know anything about his tuning style? maybe it's 442 and his vibrato just makes it seem higher.

  • @OhSweetOz wat do u mean by all of these values?

  • @blueraspberry100 They are audio frequencies in Hz used when tuning instruments. For example, A440 is the A above middle C and vibrates 440 times per second. A442=442 vibrations/second and so forth. In the US, A440 is considered standard tuning, but other places in the world use different standards.

  • @brokenhallelujah19 O ok, i remember heraing about that somewhere...

  • I don't feel so bad now that I see this piece is hard even for James Galway!

  • This is my favorite movement of the whole piece! I will say, his interpretation of this movement is not my favorite. He took it too fast and his tone is too bright. I mean, this is a triumphant end to the piece but this piece always calls for more tone colors to be used. Overall, it was still a good performance! :)

  • i agree very much. he is a great musician, but i think his style is a little showy for a perkofiev

  • I wish I can play half like this when 69!!!!!!

  • playing when 69ing, that's a novel idea

    =p

  • That requires a certain natural talent. Better stick to Prokofiev cd's...

  • Wow, quanto è bravo *_* Rimango ipnotizzato dal suo suono @_@

  • great piece&great performance!

  • I think this piece was a challenge even for Sir Galway to put together...

  • in this video he was 69! lol

  • Probably not, since he has one of the best recordings of this piece from like 30 years ago. I doubt this concert was any challenge for him.

  • this is a standard flutist piece.. so. no. :)

  • @4znhatred This is what happens when a composer writes for an instrument he doesn't play! My violinist used to complain about Beethoven's sonatas that were accessible, but awkward, always citing Mozart, who was equally comfortable with the violin as he was with the piano. Prokofiev worked with Rostropovitch writing for the cello but I don't think he had a specific flautist in mind for performing and consulting.

  • Jamessss galwayyyyyyyyyyyyy è un dioooooooooooooooooo

  • @Blave1868 What the hell does that mean?

  • @65rfdfffdf he said that Sir Galway is a god

  • i mean james galwayyy is a god!!
