  • grate video...

  • Finally a reviewer who speaks proper english tmbs up!

  • me likey :D !!

  • GTX 550 Ti FTW ;D

  • hey Linus does this work for an ASUS G73SW GAMING NOTEBOOK LAPTOP Nvidia gtx 460m with 1.5 GB GDDR5?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE RESPOND

  • @PILOTRADO14 No. Mobile graphics are different from desktop graphics. GTX 460 > GTX 460M.

  • @fuddy12345 thanks mate needed to know

  • @PILOTRADO14 No problem.

  • hey Linus does this work for an ASUS G73SW Nvidia gtx 460m with 1.5 GB GDDR5?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE RESPONED

  • Do you guys think this will fit into a Mini-Tower Desktop?

Namely the Dell Vostro 430.(google the image, unable to link)

I'm kind of stuck between the HD 5770 and this GTX 460.

(Note: I will also be getting a new PSU)

  • @japorms318 gtx 460

  • Man Do you steal from COMPUTER shop??

  • 1600 3d marks to 19000???

  • "coil whine" Thanks , I have been wondering what the hell that noise was , even thought it could be tinitus !

  • Linus Sebastian that's 2 first names in Sweden.

  • Like the intro :p

  • HOT TOPIC, I GET IT, BECAUSE FERMI'S CAUSE HOUSEFIRES.

  • just wondering, when you adjust the voltage, does that vary upon build or just gpu, and if its gpu, what settings did you set it to

  • @bladeguitar274 Depends on manufacture though adjusting voltage is sometimes risky

  • could you post the acctual values you have changed i dont want to blow my card :/

  • Cyclone or DirectCU Stock ?

What can a higher OC with lower temperatures?

    Sorry for any mistake.

I live in Brazil, do not speak English =/

    Thanks.

  • Hi used the Program and i got the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 768mb but i dont have the same fan on the graphic card i have smaller one and with plastic around

so i clocked it core clock 803 MHz shader clock 1607MHz memory clock to 1999MHz fan speed 40% is it good or shall i go down a bit? my GPU temp is around 30 when im in windows youtube msn etc

  • surely he meant 16000 and not 1600

  • I got XFX nForce 780I SLI motherboard. Which overclock program should i download? I have Gainward GTX 465 Good Edition! Thank You Very Much!!

  • @boye1337 MSI afterburner if you want to higher the voltage, EVGA precision which in you cant highter the voltage,... Or a also a good program made by Gainward itself is Expertool:)

  • MSI GeForce GTX460 1GB Cyclone OC

    or

    Asus Radeon HD6850 1GB

    ?

  • @RafaelPerrusiCHANNEL 6850. However, their drivers are terrible. So I Returned it and got a GTX 460. SImilar Performance but I got my GTX 460 PNY for 159.99 at Frys.

  • Ok then - what safe temperature for gtx460 is?

  • @blackwhite321 The max temp it can withstand is around 100C but you should keep it under 80C at max load so you don't shorten the lifespan too much

  • im just scared to overclock my gtx 480. i bought the SC version from EVGA and it gets good frames and stays under 75c in every single game. I hate hate hate higher temps than that in general and am kind of skeptical on the performance gain\heat buildup. the stock cooler isn't terrific on this card am i right?

  • Energy sources without the need for fuel or energy input exist ,But the Establishment doesn't want ppl to know this,Go to LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM and get the blueprints for a genuine magnet motor ,Start the revolution!

  • Furmark =3

  • It might help if you post more information, maybe even links to the software you use.

  • Over 25,000!!!!

  • quick question about intro - where can i get the mp3 or audio file? im contemplating making a 70's porno and need a soundtrack... thanks in advance linus

  • I have gugabyte gtx 460! What programme i have to use!

  • @TheXtremeGamer90

Afterburner should still work but you won't have voltage control (I don't think so anyway)

It's free and on their website

  • u get zero quoil line? or something?? i dont understand? something he said about the custom pcb card..

  • anyone have a gtx470 with stock cooler and try to overclock it and what was the higher stable overclock and voltage and temps!!? thanks

  • msi afterburner has kombustor which does the same thing as what you use

  • witch is better MSI GTX 460 hawk or the cyclone?

  • @Baker3OrDieHard the hawk

  • hey Linus. I ran 3DMark Vantage for my GTX480 only for the GPU tests cos i haven't OC my processors and i got a score of 20312. Is that good enough?

  • @NCIXcom can you overclock 2 cards in sli? I'm sorry if this sound like a dumb question but I'm just curious.

  • @bigred738 yes you can

  • @bigred738 yes but sli uses more power and even if you dont change the voltage overclocking uses more power

  • After burner wouldnt Voltage unlock after I unlocked it for my 460's :(

  • @strey75 solved

  • @strey75: Please tell me how. Im having the same problem :(

  • @magicalsalmon: solved :)

  • what's the difference between evga and msi geforce graphics cards ? I think evga ones look cooler, but are they better ?

  • @sacredchemistry look at the specs vs price, better specs for lower price, buy that one.

  • Have any one tested unigine heaven 2.0 with hd 2 5870 in cross fire

if you have please tell me the minimum and maximum frame rate with wattage!!

    please tell me

  • PhysX is an excuse to get people to buy Nvidia

  • i wanted to know if i water cool fermi does it use less power ?

  • @djcrossfade Hi, I don't believe so. Water cooling will only reduce the gpu's temperature, it will not reduce power draw. Unless, that is, the watercooler draws less power than the gpu's fan. But I wouldn't think that happens, and it would be a pretty insignificant difference.

  • NCIX from Vancouver!?

  • @bobbylou122 I believe Linus works in the Burnaby branch, I think o.O

  • Linus, can you please do a 460 gtx 768 in sli with comparisons video?

  • just bought it , indeed Cyclone is an awesome card and OMG no heat 55° O/C on heavy load

  • Comment removed

  • 1600-19000? really?

  • A good way to lower the temperature of your video card ( CPU works too) is to clean out the fan and heat sync. of the card, the same way as shown in NCIX tech tips #13.

It got me 7 degrees Celcius drop and my card is only 2 years old!

  • That's the 900$ quality sound?..Sounds worse than linus tech tips.

  • mmm...

that looks like one delicious donut!

    :D

  • unlocked core voltage but the slider is blacked out and wont let me. i use 9800 gtx+... would it make much of a difference for me anyway? Im using stock cooling aswell! would appreciate the help linus. thanx. MICH27G

  • unlocked core voltage but the slider is blacked out and wont let me. i use 9880 gtx+... would it make much of a difference for me anyway? Im using stock cooling aswell! would appreciate the help linus. thanx. MICH27G

  • i always use IE, never had any problems as of yet!! no matter OS im running,

  • I like "Hairy Dounat"

  • 500$ :o thats what a hd5870 costs in my country :( (denmark)

  • @userrob880 chrome has many bugs

  • @MrBoardway and EI and firefox doesn't? nothing is bug-free. firefox has had trouble with security lately, chrome has been said to be the most secure browser as of this year.

  • HOLY CRAP MILITARY GRADE.

  • Great Video!

  • Linus.. Always out there trying to save us a buck. Thanks guy!

  • NO WAY!!!! NOT POSSIBLE!!! EVGA Hydrocopper are only 752MHZ GPU and 3800MHZ Ram. The best I can do on 3way SLI 480GTX is 800MHZ and 2200MHZ ram on 1088mV. if im doing something wrong tell me.

  • hey linus can you conduct a test about starcraft 2 melting graphics cards chipset

  • Would gtx 460 sli out do gtx 480??

  • @Thet3 Probably only if you get lucky and are able to push it to a gtx 480 stock speeds. But its no match for an overclocked gtx 480. I'm not sure but its most likely going to turn out that way.

  • lol "hairy donut thing"

  • DO SOME ATI OVER CLOCKING

  • @Jorcamblaster He already did cover ATI overclocking; watch?v=gA_l5-HDel4

  • I dont overclock all the time but when i get a chance I CRANK SH#T UP!!

rofl anyways i usually just OC my CPU to 3.3GHz(its a crappy athlon 64 x2 6000+ max it can go is like 3.4 then whole pc crashes) i OC my GTX470 a bit as well using Precision, i dont need to overclock much since the card already runs all the games haha

  • complicated hairy doughnut thing....LMFAO.

  • so running a couple of those in SLI would be cheaper AND better than buying one gtx 480?

  • I have a GTX 285 and it won't let me unlock the voltage..?

  • everybody check out NCIX's first video.

    linus was so pro then

  • 5850 = £211 (XFX)

    GTX 465 = £211 (EVGA)

    Please...

  • u look like eminem !!!

  • has he said why he uses IE? I'd think most ppl would be using Chrome like i am, super fast.

  • @userrob880 I use firefox. Is chrome really faster than ff? I've tried once but never noticed anything different. If it is faster please let me know cause...welll...i want the fastest browser :)

  • @gaarauchiha90 in my experience it is faster, ive tried FF on here and on laptops and still find Chrome faster, its not AS customizable but great for videos on youtube (usually faster buffering) and surfing the web in general, plus it puts all my favorited/bookmarked sites at the bottom of the address bar for one click access

  • @userrob880 I use IE in most of my videos because either I'm either using someone else's computer (like one that belongs to my work) or a test bench and I don't care.

My home computers and the one in my office use Firefox.

  • SOMEBODY CAW NINE WAN WAN

FERMI BURNAN UP THE DANCE FLOOR

  • @NCIXcom

I only use IE to download Firefox and when I want to give my browser complete control over my computer. lol.

  • @userrob880 chrome is the fastest but i like the firefox because of the interface. IE is crap but not as bad a safari

  • @userrob880 i think firefox is much better then chrome

  • @Mscorpion001 You may think so, but it's simply not true.

  • @d4ark it is though...speed isnt everything firefox has add -ons and is more secure, you can have so many add-ons its amazing.

  • @LFCforEver12341 There are tons of addons for Chrome, too ;) And Chrome's pretty secure. Sure, it may send some stuff to Google, but tbh I don't care. Google doesn't use this date to spy after me, they use it to improve their products like AdSense. And actually any browser sends data 'home'.

  • @userrob880

    Opera's faster.

  • @userrob880 Chrome sucks. Opera and Firefox FTW.

  • hairy donut thing and aboot

  • Haha, in Hungary the GTX 460 is about 1/3 of the price of a GTX 480 :D (In kind of the cheapest hardware shop in Hungary.)

  • what motherbord are you useing

  • Why are most reviewers and sites avoiding sli with these cards is it not worth it or something any chance you could do a vid on sli?

  • lol, internet explorer...

  • @elnicko123 What a nub. who uses IE?

  • @elnicko123

    Internet Exploder.

  • Hey Linus I heard that you have to overclock the memory and the core within a certain ratio, is any of this true?

  • OMG HELP! This is my first time build and when I finished assembling everything I press the power button and ABSOLUTELY nothing happens. HELP!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheAmefist Have you tested your power supply, is the front power plugged in right, make sure your not running everything off of one rail, its stupid but make sure you have everything plugged in all the way and in the right spot. If you have a steam account i can help you more, send me an email if you want.

  • @TheAmefist are all of the power cables plugged in and or how big is your power supply what is in your pc

  • @dragon111409 They are all plugged in and my power supply is a 750W Coolermaster.

  • @TheAmefist send me a personal message so we dont crowd this video

  • @TheAmefist Make sure the wires from your case are connected properly to the motherboard.

  • Does overclocking reduce the life span of the products?

  • @pilot764 You have to take many factors into account including voltages etc, sometimes no, sometimes you can burn something out.

  • @pilot764 only if they are not properly cooled, if they stay nice and cool, they will last awhile.

  • @pilot764 Yes, but most likly nothing you would ever notice.

EZ way to understand it is, your making it run slightly faster than normal, so there will be slightly more heat and over time it can make a diff, but your talking years down the road where your card is likly out of date.

  • @pilot764 yes

  • @pilot764 yes , but if you can keep the component cool enough so it stays under the thermal limit, then no.

  • @pilot764 It can but I'm not to sure by how much.

  • @pilot764 depends how intense the overclocking is and the temperature of the card.

  • @pilot764 Not if the product is cooled properly.

  • @pilot764 not really unless you change the volts ;)

  • @pilot764 however, remember that you loose your warranty!

  • @pilot764 put it this way its like making a fat dude run twice as fast as they can mate, so i would not recormend it. nothing is free mate and long term geting a better quality for more money is cheaper in the long run.

  • @singh0116 No. If done correctly and kept at a safe temperature (under 100C) there will be little to no effect on the lifespan. Your wasting your money if you dont OC

  • @pilot764 it reduce the life time but whan u gonna reach the life limit u gonna need to change your whole computer for a better computer so less life time change nothing 4-5 years later u need to change your computer for be up to the recommanded spec of a game

  • @pilot764 good question i hope some answers

  • @pilot764 yes, from 10 years to 8.....think about it.

  • @pilot764 prob

  • @pilot764 Yeah, but by the time it finally dies you'll most likely replace it before then unless you're to cheap or can't afford a new graphics card to replace it.

  • @pilot764 of course it does

  • @pilot764 yep.

  • @pilot764 Yes

  • @pilot764 Not if you don't overvolt it and as long as you keep it cool then there is no reason it will have a reduced lifespan

  • @pilot764 Not if you have proper cooling. If you overdo it and your GPU is constantly at high heat, that will reduce the life span.

  • @pilot764 if you tweak the voltage yes it will, but if you don't then your fine.

  • @pilot764 as long as u keep enough cooling and dnt play around with voltages the life span wont be affected, u change card long before it brakes

  • @FearMeSuckers Even though you're saying that the lifespan is still being affected by overclocking. Overclocking makes it run higher so it's more susceptible to deteriorating faster.

  • @ownedufoo2 there is a thing that i like to call OH SHIT FACTOR (OSHT), the osht factor is what manufacters use to measure the years of warranty they give.

For example a vido card with lifetime warranty may work 500/1200 stock speds but have chips fully capable to work @800/ 1500, this means that the chips are working very far from their natural capacity wich means no deteoration so gives u lifetime warranty, as long u dnt touch the voltages u can go higher and dnt have an impact on durability

  • @pilot764 Yes.

  • @pilot764

    Yes.

    but like 1 month.

nothing stupid unless your Roasting the Voltage though it!

or its at a stupidly high temp.

  • @pilot764 Of course.

  • @pilot764

Only if you don't keep it cool.

  • @pilot764 if you dont do it correctly

  • overclocking void warranty

  • buy two of them and you can overclock them both to beat a 5970 XXX black edition :O

  • How would a gtx 470 do between theese cards ?

  • would you get better performance if you ran dual gt-x 460 compared to a single gt-x 480?

  • @Averin Running 2 GTX 460 1GB's in 2 way SLI will be about the same as 1 GTX 480.

  • @Averin Yes 2x GTX 460 1gig in SLI is about 20% faster than a GTX 480 for roughly the same cost and power consumption. However the 460 overclocks so easily that you will get 30% or more faster than a GTX 480 with some overclocking.

  • @Averin Yes it does the only thing is you need to have a sli compatible motherboard.

  • how come you didn't talk about coolbits?

  • I have some problems with overclocking my GTX 260. its overclocked to 610 mhz GPU and 1100 mhz Mem. Sometimes the Games freezes and I cant do anythin until i press cntrl+Alt+del and go into the taskmanager (thats the only thing I can do) Than the GPU clocks down to the low 3D clockspeed (400 mhz) and it stays there until I restart the PC The GPu Temp is never higher than 75 °c

    Sorry for my bad english

  • Stop making money god damn it; LOL! xD

  • LINUS MAN HELP! Where do I plug the vcc usb- usb+ gnd plug into my motherboard? (this has nothing to do with overclocking.

  • Install Gentoo

  • i would still buy a 5850 with a after market cooler for big raw power and chillieness.

  • LINUS!! I wanna see The ASUS Ares run in SLI with 2 of them and see them in action pleaseee!!!!!!! :)

  • Sounds like that vantage score is with Physx enabled. Also a good starting point for the MSI Cyclone 1GB model is 900/1050 (900/4200) @ 1.062v

  • my power supply has coil whine (idle & load) and it's extremely annoying. if anyone here knows a "how to" guide on fixing it, website or video, please reply. thx

  • that cooler system, its a monster :S haha, and overclicking it from 1600, to 19000? wow ._.

  • i think you meant 16,000 to 19,000
