  • It makes sense tho cause my parents are both Hakkian, and I speak mandarin without an accent, but my brother speaks it with a heavy American accent.

  • The reason why you sound funny is cause u hav an american accent lol

  • in america, we only have 6th-12th grade. 6th-8th grade is middle school and 9th-12th grade is high school. after that, it's college

  • How tall are you ?

  • I'm surprised you don't have a Singaporean accent cuz I was watching a Xiaxue video and she has one ^.^

  • I can't stop watching this, she's so stupid she's cute XD

  • What hot bimbo :p

  • he is CHinese!!!!! hooray!!!!

  • haha it;s okkay 'bout the way you speak, I SPEAK THE SAME:D haha and rice.. GROSS I EAT IT WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY to often:b

  • LOL, I could tell this was filmed in Singapore by the window grill.

  • @leilyhaddad Lol so typical right! haha.

  • And you're Chinese is really good compared to mine lol, if I try to speak Chinese, at least one word is gonna be English xD And I cannot speak the Beijing dialect to save my life, Nanjing all the way lol :P

  • @cattyclai277983 Haha aww, well I'm the same when it comes to complex words or when I'm holding conversations with people. I tend to get nervous about speaking and end up sounding funny. haha.

  • What country are you in now? Cause I'm in England and we have that Primary, Secondary instead of the American stuff. Still in Singapore? :]

  • @cattyclai277983 I'm still in Singapore, we use that primary, secondary system here as well :)

  • wo hen hao xie xie. ni na

    ni de putonghua hen hao:)

  • @worldtravel101 haha xiexie (:

  • You don't sound weird to me when you spoke in mandarin. Actually, you remind me of me cause I'm pretty unconfident speaking mandarin around any other ppl besides my parents. i see chinese ppl at school speaking in mandarin to their friends and i feel so awkward thinking about if i had to do that.

  • @kawaiiprincess2004 Aww, it's great we can relate! I don't think too much about it if I'm required to speak chinese to elderly people but it seems when I'm speaking to those who can understand English, even if they start the conversation with Chinese I instinctively reply in English. haha

  • @icyabstract But i really do confuse myself lol. I know I will never be comfortable speaking mandarin around chinese people but yet I study the language. LOL. I guess part of me likes the language but at the same time it's hard to let people see that. I swear whenever I have to speak to a stranger in mandarin in public all of a sudden people start looking at me suspiciously like i'm talking about them or something, lol.

  • @kawaiiprincess2004 Aha, aww, I just find it quite frustrating sometimes when I'm trying to explain something and I can't think of the word to explain it. Then the awkward silence starts settling in when I replace it with English and the person doesn't understand.

  • cute ^^ whats your native language?

  • @26heroine My mother tongue (as we call it here) is Mandarin but my first language is English (:

  • were u speaking manderin because im learing it haha:)

  • @danc3t33n Yeap I was speaking Mandarin. haha. (:

  • so where r u now? ur vid is so much better than steven lim's vid from singapore as well

  • @tobynagreanu I'm in Singapore right now. haha. Omgosh Steven Lim makes videos? Lol.

  • @icyabstract yea he's a total retard btw. so how long u gonna be here? i hope its gonna be for a while, so i can date u out! hahaha

  • It's cool, you're parents seem really open minded about what you want to do and don't bully you into doing maths or science or those 'asian' subjects :)

Thank god my parents are like that too, but some of my friends are pressured into medicine or maths, cause if they don't they'd be a 'shame' to the family. It's stupid :(

  • @xoxlollypop I agree. I mean at the end of the day it's our lives and how we choose to live it. I guess as long as parents understand that and worry sufficiently enough for us not to slack too much at school, it's alright. Guess it must be quite hard being a parent too, in that way. Don't want to stress the kid out or make them slack too much. haha.

  • you sound just a little funny! but thats ok. as long as you kno wat your saying and whos saying wat! lolol

  • Ur so cute:)

  • I'm from singapore too :) & i really hope that i can emigrate to the states soon!

  • I have to convert chinese to English....cuz people in my country don't really speak English..have u ever been to Taiwan?

  • @sonia22025 Ohh I see. Nope I've never been to Taiwan, though I've heard over there while Mandarin is widely used, they speak in hokkien as well. Which is a default 'language' there but known as a dialect here. Right?

  • @icyabstract .ha..basically,our native language isChinese and Taiwanese( hokkien). But young generations speak chinese mostly in Taipei or big city.Taiwan is pretty much like Hong Kong except for the language.Definitely take a vist in Taiwan^^.People in my country speak English as well but not as fluent as singaporean.

  • @sonia22025 Ohh I see, thanks so much for clearing that up! Yeap I was in HK awhile back, they speak mainly cantonese over there and I can't speak canto at all ): I might have more luck surviving in Taiwan. haha. I definitely want to drop by one of these days!

  • Yeap I mainly speak English, a bit of Chinese and German. I suppose what they mean by that is dialect. We do speak a lot of dialect here such as Hokkien, Cantonese etc. We also have other languages like malay or hindu, because it's pretty mutli-racial here but I'm not good at those languages.

  • Yea studying in Hawaii but will graduate from college at the end of the year.

  • Aw thanks. It's auburn in color. The video colors sort of wash it out a little.

  • u r so cute!heheh and ur chinese sucks. hahahhah

anyways, I think the "Asian Stereotype" is more like an US thing..over here, some people think oh" asians can't drive" " asian's are good at math" " asian men are short"...

but since u live in Singapore, I don't think there's such thing. hehe

  • Lol yeap, I know.

That's true... I guess living here we don't really know the stereotype of ourselves, so to speak.

  • im like u exactly!!

i cant do mathh at all but im going into business XD

  • Lol wow, business is really hard! haha. Or to me it is. haha.

  • I'm not the only asian that hates rice! haha

  • Haha aw thanks.

  • heyy girl. mandarin sounds so much prettier than cantonese lol. sooo do u speak any other languages besides mandarin/english?

  • Haha I don't know how to speak cantonese to save my life so sadly I can't comment on that. Lol. Yeap, I speak/read German and can understand some French. (:

Don't worry my dear, am not laughing (:

  • haha yea im chinese too.. you kind of have an accent to ur chinese! thats wierd because dont you kive in singapore

  • I guess it's from years of not speaking it and not being accustomed to speaking it the way I learnt it in school. I guess it's true, once you're out of school everything just gets forgotten.

  • lol pretty slick mandarin, you sound so hot , the pressurising of straight As is so true (lucky it aint A*s) you cant do math but you can sure do MAC, i noticed the eyerolling too lol

  • Aw thank you (:

Haha! That's a neat phrase. Lol.

  • haha i have to admit i did laugh when you speaked chinese but you dont sound weird... well i wouldnt know because i can hardly speak chinese=]

  • Haha, I do have that effect on people with my mandarin, it's so embarassing because all my relatives would just laugh at me.

  • lols! the rhymed!

  • lol i mean the chinese rhymed :D

  • Lol, yeah, I didn't notice! haha.

  • haha, you sound fine! :)

  • Haha aw thanks.

  • Oh, and I think the 'peace' sign thingy is pretty much universal, and not just an Asian thing.

I do think the having a maid thingy is pretty much a SIngaporean stereotype. :p

  • yay for singapore. boo for pressure.

  • Lol, so true!

  • Asian stereotype - I guess it is more of a mindset. Being Singaporeans, we have our own 'stereotype' - such as being 'kiasu' (caught up in the rat race, being competitive etc) - but I think some of the examples might be that Asian values? I don't know. ''Stereotype" just sound kind of negative here. Ha ha.

  • Ah yes true. I never really believed in stereotypes but I guess it's something most people relate to in general to feel like they know something better. haha.

Haha, the maid thing, lol that is pretty true.

True, however it seems that Asians have given it the most variations. Lol.

  • lol.

I love how you're all excited in the beggining.

  • Haha, thanks for watching! :D

  • haha I understand #2..

  • Haha, how strange that it's like a chinese thing or something. I have no idea. I thought pressure at school was something most parents did anyway. Lol.
