  • these guys are TOAST now

  • Bread is awesome, real music for whites and soulful people.

  • what does that mean "if a man could be at 2 place at one time id be with you

  • For instance, if a person lives far away from someone they love, or they have to travel a lot- then they'd want to be in two places at once so they could be with that person, even though they live far away or travel lots. Make sense?

  • yes i understand the lyrics to this song just makes you want to melt

  • Oh, I thought you were asking what that particular line meant. Oops. And yes, they're very nice lyrics. (:

  • oh no i was asking.....thankyou for explaining it i thought that was what it meant. Thank you for explaining it to me.

  • magic moment from 1971 !

  • ahhh...it's my favorite music!! ... and my woman too.!!!!

  • This song always makes me cry, it reminds my of my aunt who was killed in a car accident when I was around 10 years old. One of the last times I saw her, this song was on the radio. It's such a beautiful song, though.

  • those lyrics "then one by one the stars would all go out thenu and i would simply fly away" - imagine loving someone through all that time- that's a pretty strong message.

  • Imagine if video games or television never existed. Imagine how many children would be outside playing with eachother. Obesity would harldy happen in youth, and who knows, maybe drugs in youth would be a rare thing too. But, we'll never kmow... First song I've ever heard from Bread, and I love it with all my heart. My mom was a fan of them way back when, and she introduced them to me. I love her, I love Bread, and I love this world, even though all the bad things about it.

  • imagine

  • @JimmyPageMarley ga met jezelf spele ofzo

  • @JimmyPageMarley ur a spastic, most kids i know who are into drugs, are into drugs because they're not inside playing games or watching tv

  • @JimmyPageMarley and what a dull place the world would be without drugs, for a start, not very much music would have been written. In fact with a name like Jimmy Page Marley I'm surprised your anti drugs, tell me, do you like their music or does it make you angry every time you hear those marijuana inspired lyrics?

  • i wasnt even born yet, but this is an absolutely beautiful song... wish songs were more like this now.

  • I was 12yr old in 1971 and it is still one of my favorites, just a great song and a great band.

  • Who are you!?!? ^^

    Everybody wanna know you!

  • Timeless and Perfect

  • I was 14 at that time... good times has passed by but still in our minds and hearts, bread and circus is that all we need, Já

  • Touches the heart huh? The 80's had power ballads. The 70's had love songs too, and today.....????

  • true made some good sounds

  • Magical times the 70's. I just turned 6 1/2 when 1970 entered. But I remember all of the 70's. Great music, great times in America. So many kids out playing. Now your lucky if you see any kids hanging out together just talking and playing football, stickball, or anything. Life was so different.

  • awesome song!!

  • mto bom

  • .... if a man could be two places at one time I'd be with you tomorrow and today beside you all the way if the world should stop revolving spining slowly down to die I'd spend the end with you and when the world was through then one by one the stars would all go out then you and I would simply fly away
  • I realy realy love this song, so I tried to make this song.... if a pitcure paints a thousand words then why can't I paint you the world will never show the you I've come to know if a face could launch a thousand ships then where am I to go there's no one home but you you're all thats left me too and when my love for life is running dry you come and pour yourself on me ....
  • one of the best love songs of all time

  • One of my favorite songs of all time!

  • Wow, this brings back memories from the early 70s.. :)

  • Out of this world, totally ethereal..

  • i always knew this song.. i just could never find out the name of it...

  • Psalms 33. Make Music... Loud : )

Psalms 22 - Sum are Dogs? Thieves? Etc?

  • This song is HELLA sad. In fact, it's SADtastic. Do you hear voices in your head too? What's that?

  • One of the greatest love songs...

  • no doubt about it.

  • Awesome Time. Love Bread & Wine

  • There go 2006*****.Music Peace Congratulation

  • awright!!!!!

  • happy birthday david gates

  • excellent & almost as good as IT DON'T MATTER TO ME...

  • I'm sorry but the sheer awfulness of Telly Savalas mumbling his way through it has forever marred the song for me.

  • probably their best song.

  • always loved this song. it was the big wedding song in the early 70's

  • Beautiful...angelic....flawless....ethereal. I love this song & Bread. Patrick Hall on American Idol a few years back did an excellent job on this song, too. I hope that he is still around because he had a perfect voice, too!

  • I toured NZ & Australia as opening act for Bread in 1996 and it was simply one of the highlights of my musical career. Lovely, genuine guys and so so sad that James and Mike have left us...wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

  • i luv bread its awesome

  • The Chamber Singers at my high school did an a capella arrangement of this song, and it's floated into and out of my head ever since.

At the moment I'm studying abroad, separated from my girlfriend by fifteen hours and an ocean, and listening to this song makes me think of her and wish I were with her.

While I won't go so far as to say 'they don't make music like this anymore,' I will say that it's a rarity. Perhaps a better phrase would be 'music like this isn't popular anymore'... if only.

  • :-)

  • Timeless!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful song, let's leave religion to the church and just enjoy the music...

  • Melody written by the gods! so good.

  • God is like Santa Claus, a nice story for children.

  • To PinkPlum13...are these crazy arse knuck-lheads dogging for your beliefs?....how did we go from a great Bread song into dogged dogma?

  • idk...it all happened so suddenly haha

  • I LOVE THIS SONG TOO!

  • i agree this is a very good song its very peacefulland good. they dont make good music like this anymore at all

  • truly awesome!

  • Perfeitinha!

  • From Pslam 33 (Really worth reading)

Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

  • shut up

  • I figured someone like you woul show up. Sooner or later.

Turn on the light, and the bugs show up

  • im just saying dont spew your religous crap when no one wants to hear it

  • How do you know what everyone here is thinking. You are one arrogant jerk, Feel free to hate God, and all he offers, but not everybody thinks the way YOU do.

Feel free to hide comments, etc.

Guys like you think they can tell other people what to do. Push people around. Doesn't work with me

  • Ya, ok looks like you are a 'she.' Bossy, aren't ya??

  • i never said i hated god its a fine book and i'm not pushing my belief on anyone unlike you who posts religous crap on bread, and not everyone thinks the way YOU do

  • Gee, all I did was post about 5 verses and people come unglued over it.

I am curious (and you can site mail me the reply) What is it in those few verses that you find so offensive?

  • Your profile says you are 20. You are smack dab in the middle of the generation that is the most evil, heard hearted group in Modern history. I was addressing them who are under 17. They are still alive.

Now go read Psalm 53. It begins thus: "The fool has said in his heart, 'there is no God' "

  • how am i evil for believing in science rather than a fictional book.....plus what does god have to do with bread? and i'm 14 and i do charity work and do all kinds of stuff for people but i'm still evil for not believing in a book? my sister does too, doesn't believe in agod and is really nice

  • Millions of nice people don't believe in God.

Good works don't get you into heaven. the price of admission is already paid for you. What you need to do is believe on this (and on Jesus Christ, God's Son)

  • Yeah, okay. Go for a jog or something. Feed the Seagulls, or crows, anything. Get off the comp before your develop riggarmortis

  • why are you telling me what to believe in? i thought good christians are supposed to accept people and their differences, and it looks like you get on the computer a lot the reason i'm getting on so much is that i have a severe cold and cant go outside in the 30 degree weather, man go celebrate thanksgiving with your family like im going to, the only reason you believe in god is cause you are afraid of dying how do you know he even exists?

  • Later... I cannot celebrate T'G with my family because in Canada we had our T.G. last Oct. Also both my parents are long gone, so yeah Maybve I will site mail you an answer... albeit a long one. and I am not afraid to die. Death is one thing we are guaranteed from birth.... The other guarantee is that we will pay taxes

  • eh true

  • At fourteen, youre a LITTLE young to say the Bible is fictional.2 bd you hv the idea your good works wont follow you. Bible says your good works are the only thing you CAN take WITH YOU.Let me tell you,a LOT of things happen that science has NO explanation for.The miracle of Fatima,or

George"I cannot tell a lie" Washingtons angelic visitation fr exmpl.Heaven is wherever God is.All return to God upon death.Ecc12:7Doesnt neccesarily mean all will STAY there though.I urge you to get a good teacher

  • Why are you posting this on here? It gets in the way of all the good comments.

  • Oh I just like to bug jerks like you.

SAME REASON YOU POST HERE. Because I can

  • Someone once said life is a maize of hedges, the one who knows the exit is the one who planted from the start, life at times may seem dark and weary, full of rain, but the SON will come out tomorrow, whenever your tomorrow may be.

  • I wish this song could last longer.

  • im melting...=)

  • great song, nice lyrics, and counter melody. :)

  • Believe... Faith... Music HEALS YES YOU CAN ! NO Silence ! Psalms 33

  • I was into bands like Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer back then. It was decades later that I found this soft 70's stuff all over again. Now I kinda dig it. If you like this you'll love Harry Nillson's Without You.

  • did anyone else here just search "bread" and find this? lol...... bread =]

  • yes lol

  • That is exactly what I did! Mmmm...Bread....I'm hungry now...and romantic...

  • awesome song!

  • Great song for two lovers cuddling each other in a warm blanket, inside the cabin at night during Christmas in front of the fireplace :]

  • Okay so I grew up in the 70's and this is my favorite song EVER...well with the exception of Roberta Flack's "Killing me Softly".

    sigh...

  • Sounds like Air Supply on herion

  • well you are not a 70,s child then

  • I was 2 in 1971, old timer

  • Wow. What a GREAT Sound. Psalms 33 Make Music !

  • fantastic!!

  • david gates is a gay..

  • One of the best love songs ever written. I am such a fan of this

  • David Gates sing with his heart and soul that's why he is an unforgettable performer.

  • 0:44

  • another of my beautiful wife's favourites, love you Lee, Always Forever - Forever Always. Always in my Heart Sweetheart since the day I first met you in 1976. Love Col

  • This song is so sad just like a story...

  • I love the lyrics <3

  • 1971 was the year.I's in 12th grade, got my first convertible hot rod "Camaro68". Always cruisin down at Sunset blv. to Santa Monica LA while listening to this song with my 1st love, the year was so innocent and romantic. Wow,tear's brimming with torrent of good memories from such innocent days of yesteryear. I'm now a dentist in Thailand.

    Love you all

    amrit

  • Hey! That was really wonderful. I wish you all the best for your life.

  • Thanks paulhula, bless your heart and please take good care ok?

    amrit

  • Hey thanks! :) you too. :)

  • My mom is such a big fan of bread=).

  • this song makes me fall asleep and make me go melancholic :(

  • So good :)

I'm 20 but I grew up listening to Bread because my mother was a big fan, she was such a fan that I was almost named aubrey..

  • ugh what went wrong with music after the 60s?

As Nico from the velvet underground said "the 70s was a broken bridge"

  • I've forgotten how great this song is; beautiful music and lyrics!

  • what can i do see her again., i tell her how much i love you, but is only a dream.

  • What is more nauseating? This song or Dan Fogelberg's LONGER

  • Who's holding a gun to your head?

If you don't like it then piss off!

  • I think he was being sarcastic...

Despite the similarities, music still reflected the mindset of the 60's when peace was the main message. And more to the point, music was more of an inspiration and less of a business out to make a buck. It's all image and money now. :(

  • Glen Campbell (of all people!) showed up on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Armed with only his acoustical guitar, he played and sang a flawless version of this classic while seated in the guest chair. It simply blew everyone away.

  • This is REAL music. When people loved and respected each other. It made you feel good about yourself. Wish I was 16 again!!

  • Yeah! Isn't that the truth! I would give a lot to experiance some of what was then. Mom & I were just talking yesterday about how Christmas has lost so much of the joyful spirit people had back then. I told her, "It's up to us, we can still create that joyful spirit about christmas for ourselves & our family."

  • If only they had songs like this nowadays.

  • The music this band made is not from Earth. It's people like this who had a direct connection with God I believe. No current music sends chills down my spine and makes me realize my insignificance in the grand scheme of things as I sit here and type and cry like a baby and not a man. DAMN

  • Bless you, you made me laugh reading that! It takes a real man to cry while listening to Bread!

  • only great bands has this touch with the celeste... the moody blues first albums has some of that dreamy stuff as well... at that time (late 60s beg.70s) the music was more dreamy and adventurous... all change... i hope so that this song will remain in us forever...i really mean forever...Thanx Dave and Co
