The best option is for the government to get out of the health care service portion and lean more towards helping foster competition. How can they do this? Easy, focus more on increasing government grants for would be medical students. This would create more doctors/specialist competition and they wouldn't have that $150,000 plus student loan that they are relying on patients to pay.

Lets take into account that medicaid / medicare / social security are all government funded social programs used to help curve economic pressure for persons with limited income or no income. They don't seem to be working to well. Taxes (funding) have gone down and cost have gone up. Cost will continue to rise because of the inflation of money (over printing cash).

Creating a new plans to replace these failing ones will only put a bandaid on the systems. The old systems will have to carry their debts over, while inflation causes the price of services rendered to increase. Therefore the new systems will already be to far behind in the power curve to provide any lasting benefits. The only way to pay for all of this would be through a very heavy tax, and honestly I don't believe this would even be enough to keep them afloat.
