There are a couple of ways to get a Live Gold subscription or Microsoft Points. One is using a credit card online. The other is to go into a video game retailer and buy a subscription or Microsoft Points card.

There is no such thing as a Silver prepaid card. The Gold Subscription Card gives turns your Silver membership into a Gold membership for whatever the time on it is, allowing you to play games online and get early access to some downloadable games.

A Silver membership, which is free, allows you to access the Xbox Live Marketplace and buy and download games, but does not let you play online.

If you're setting up a wireless connection, you may have to input your MAC address (if you've got MAC filtering activated on your wireless router). That said, unless you're running a static IP system on your router, all you should need to do is plug in the cable.

You need an HDTV with the proper connections, and the cables.

If they're the colour coded ones, all you need to do is plug them into the corresponding ports. Just be careful not to mix up the red cables from the audio and video. They look similar.

If you're using the HDMI cables, they only go in one way.

If you`re trying to set up with a wireless adapter and you`re having trouble, the Xbox website has just about every type of connection and every connection issue you could think of. It should be able to help you get online rather quickly.

If you're trying to connect wirelessly to your wireless router without the proper adapter, you won't be able to get a connection. If you're connecting to your wireless router with a wire, it shouldn't be a problem, it should connect immediately.

The cost for the systems is the same now. If you live close to the border, you might want to head up to Canada and pick up a system from a retailer there, as the exchange rate should make it even cheaper than usual.

As far as the modem thing goes, your Live account doesn't go away when you disconnect the cable, it just won't be accessible. You might want to consider getting a router so both the computer and the 360 can be connected simultaneously.

An offline profile is only made if the profile you make when you set up your 360 and you don't sign up for Xbox Live. If you sign up for Xbox Live, the profile is both online and offline.

No, they won't do anything "that isn't good" to your email. I'd suggest not signing up for the newsletters though.

If you're switching from Xbox to Xbox 360, you don't need to make a new Xbox Live profile.

If you're going online on Live for the first time, you'll need to sign up.

If it's a high speed modem, there is a way to connect directly. The only problem with that is that you would need to disconnect it from your computer, leaving you offline.

It's probably better to just go out and buy a router.

Uh, no. I don't think you quite understand. I'm not using my Xbox 360 on my PC, I'm simply routing the video through it to my computer monitor (specifically so I could record the video).

The main way to get wireless Xbox Live is by using a Wi-Fi connection and the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter. Otherwise, you'd have to go wired, like I did.

As long as you're connecting it to an Internet capable device, like a modem (if that's what you mean by Cable Box), router or a computer with an extra Ethernet port you should be able to get online.

The modem is the box your Internet Service Provider (Bell, Verizon, whatever) gives you to get you connected to the Internet. It's usually a Cable or DSL modem, and it is what you usually connect you PC to directly, yes.

Hehe. Uh, no. And don't worry about it. Plenty of people get confused by tech. What may be confusing you is the fact that I hooked up my Xbox through my PC. To clarify, I was just using it to record footage because I have a capture card.
