Meh. Asimo was impressive 5 years ago.

But the motor joints are just archaic, definately not smooth by any definition.

Personally, Big Dog was far more impressive. Movement was very natural, self balancing, and far more autonomous than Asimos heavily scripted movements.

Besides their initial Industrial robots, the Japanese robotics labs and researchers as a whole seem to really be very linear in nature. They seem to concentrate primarily on asthetics more than the technology itself
