UPDATE: Students sued SUNY & Stony Brook University, its president & university council with a lawsuit in NYS Supreme Court in May 2010. On Aug 30, 2010, the judge ruled in the students favor - the closure of this college is ILLEGAL & ANNULLED. We await the final judgement ordering Stony Brook to restore the college for the spring 2011 semester of be in contempt of court!

I know that's right! I really don't like it when people say "It is what it is." It wasn't what it was when there were many people who made reform on certain situations. For example, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Susan B. Anthony, and Frederick Douglas!
its funny because LIU did this first in 2005 to Southampton. Then SUNY goes and copies them. "oh the school went bankrupt once before, lets just do it again"
glad I got to spend my first 2 years of college there :)
I don't understand why this issue is not more mainstream. A state university shut down - one dedicated to conservation and environmental concerns. In the growing "Green Movement", how can we allow an institution that fosters growth in today's conservation leaders simply wither away and die? This simply satisfies the idea that the rich get richer (University heads) and the poor get poorer (students). The University is basically saying, "Hey students, you're SOL!"
"A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead. Beautiful campus. I hope it stays open.
