I hated the end, not because Light simply lost, it's HOW he lost that just sickens me. Light, the great and righteous Kira, gets trapped, and just starts laughing his psychotic ass off. He shows no grace, no humility, he didn't even TRY to think of a way out. Of course, he was fated to have that be his end, but it would've been better for his image to not go insane that way. Also, I wanted the ending to have him die, and become a Shinigami, then he could continue his work in a second season.

Yes, Gexad ^^ that is what happens. They don't show it to u in the anime, but they do give u hints in Death Note: Director's Cut.

And that is what happens in the manga ^^

Light had pure intetions to start with, killing criminals is understandable, but he become to obssesed n killing every1 who threatneded him slightly, he became evil, letting his dad die ect... tht ended it for me, light was just insane

Hmm... The question at the end intrigued me.

The anime didn't really go and explain what happens after Light dies. I think the Manga (How to Read : 13) gives more closure.

A friend told me that he goes to the shinigami world and die the same ways as all the people he kills. Then the talks to Ryuk to take him to the Shinigami king so he can strike a deal to become a shinigami and recreate the shinigami world to be beautiful again. But I'm not sure.

No. He's right. Watch the Japanese special that takes place after the anime/manga. Light becomes a Shinigami. It even wears Light's scarf and brings Ryuk an apple, even though this Shinigami never met Ryuk. He was new.

Yeah, actually there was a second ending where Light becomes president and asks Ryuk to kill him because he has accomplished his goal, then after he dies he must experience every "murder" he committed and he decides he has enough time to go and strike that deal with the shinigami king

Unfourtunatly no the didn't. Just because suddenly a 'god' appears and wants to make justice , some of the people who are evil will not change themselves even if Light threatens to get rid of them. Yeah very tragic and unfair the world is like that.
