  • there I could see a really good ones, great!

  • Andy's guitar wasn't crunchy enough. Don't care for the half time or rim shots either.

  • sting is a rock god.

  • This is absolutely one of the best live performance they've ever had that I've ever seen!

  • Thank Police!!

  • nice song tnx 4 sharing.

  • I am so glad I was just starting high school and really finding myself out, and then came THE POLICE. I was not alone on my search!

  • fuen en chile no en rio

  • What are you talking about ilp-syncing. I think they are really singing the song and who are to say thy aren't. Fucking moron. Thisis a reply to yamagagouchy69

  • @TheLaluna1

LOL Yeah, like the lip synch machine failed at around 0:49-0:50. ;)

  • @mikeallenpugh wow, you're right... they really think of everything these days, programming in faults like that.

  • This songs over all structure is so unusual and energetic then it sounds like a secret race, then suddenly thinking of many miles away...oh yeah the main motif sounds like a deep mental experience of the singer calling out to many miles away then we wake up to what to the verse and the regular day starting or something that's how it feels like. The weird parts after the day in the life breeze sounds like the singer is putting up these strange song parts on display this way? No well I can do it t

  • Sting's voice is a legend, no cover band is gonna reach 1/4 of the original

  • S.C.'s Blue Bell Ride rock's!!!!!!

  • 3:15 Sting looks so relaxed, "it's the end of this voicebreaking part!"

    3:54 "I can't take this anymore"

    4:04 "Oh fuck!"

  • @necroshyha

C'mon, go to critic to axel rose!!!

  • @natxo1975mora That's joke, Axl sucks

  • I love how Sting's voice keeps breaking, it just adds to the power of the song

  • @Gummy132 Fucking true!

  • @MattMWarren

I would like to heard Stewart singing now, with same strong. Not even Freddy mercury could keep same voice on live presentations

  • 3 people missed the 'like' button.

  • epac! 999999999/1000000!

  • btw... I just heard him play a killer double bass lick @ 4:00.

He never used to play double bass....... : )

  • @patton303 its either that or he does heel toe

  • @Kobeownzu81

Nope... Stew plays heels up..... I did a clinic for Vater right before his clinic at NAMM once and I grilled him about everything after we were done. : D

  • @patton303 so does he play with one or two pedals?

  • @Kobeownzu81

He now plays with two pedals. Or at least he did 3 years ago. : D

  • @patton303 true that!!

  • Stewart is playing like he's fucking 25........ not 55.

Just beating the living shit out of that beautiful Tama kit.

  • If you have to reside your anger in life synch II is a good place to leave it....I always shed a tear when I hear this song because life hurts so good!!

  • genial!!!

    Gr8...

    no words...

    no compares...

    amazing... awesome...

    BUT...

Sting is the worst bassist EVER.

    hehehe

  • @grilopri

I disagree. Sting is quite a good bassist. Its tough to sing and play and he manages to do it very well. He also invents very creative chord progressions in his songs.

  • they are LEGENDS. STING= GENIUS!!! Music of today pales in comparison to the 80's music.

  • When I see a comment insulting this group, I wollow in filth. This group is beastly, not bad!

  • amazing!

  • stewart copeland is so good. just everything he does stands out

  • like the way he plays the chorus in half time

  • Stuart is like so beastly drummer.

  • man, there old people and they beast so much its so damn hard to keep up with them awesomeness!

  • watch the certifiable dvd u stupid fuckers :D allmost all of the vocal failures is just because youtube's or this video's bad sound quality.

  • @bebaaah, you're 100% right. These fucking retards will quibble and whine about everything without realizing it's Youtube video quality failures, not any fault of the band.

  • Argh ..strats have sustain of a banjo, bright quack tone, ground noise problems, and especially tuning problems!

  • This shows that Sting is getting old... vocal failure everywhere =(

    Anyhow, fantastic! ^^

  • no kidding?. Of course, he is 58 years old dude!!

  • Where is the groove? They used to have it on early '80's.

  • you must be deaf... listen to the bass and drums lock the groove.

  • vocal fail 0:49

  • and?????

    pfffffffffff

  • @potpierulez

    hater...

  • Damn, they BEAST.

  • dont get me wrong...iam a big fan of the poliece....but u can only squeeze so much juice from the grape...they were the shit back then...but its plain 2 see they werent enjoying themselves during this performance...i bet sting wanted 2 sing ''fragile'' on stage and say the hell with it lol....these guys just dont get along....and thats what fueled their breakup in the 1st place...stings taste of music was changeing & andy & stewart wasnt havein it..hense the remake of dont stand so close 2 me

  • Damn, Stewart is pounding the hell out of his kit!

  • He always does.

  • @dharmaseed Stewart always pounds the hell out of his kit....that's why it sounds so good....

  • The current industry is so lame that these guys wouldn't have ever been signed if they were coming up today... today's music industry is run by bean counters.

  • Three rock and roll band rule the whole rock section

  • Sting is such a GOD.

  • I've always loved this band. They never disappoint. Wish I could have been there!

  • great band. great song. the police

  • The three of them are the best musicians you can find on earth!

If they were born at this era, they would win thousands of awards within months

  • The police live double cd is where its at. This isnt

  • Is it just me,or is Stewart the only one that seems like he's really feelin' it? Andy and Sting just seem like they're just makin a token effort.Still pretty good though.

  • major baulage :P LOL

  • LMAO!!! his voice cracks at 00:50

  • Yours would too at that age. Ever been to a concert that hasn't been lipsynched?

  • @yamagouchy69 hahahaha, lol... you just made my day,...;)

  • @yamagouchy69 i'm not sure you understand the difference between a singer lip-synching and a band augmenting their sound with backing/backing tracks.

  • @yamagouchy69 ive been to lots that werent lip synched,i enjoyed this but it was no where close to the police i loved in the 80s

  • someone is trying to compare stewart to mitch mitchell? o.0

  • Awesome!! but whoever did the sound engineering could have really done better. You can barely hear the bass:*

  • Como hace mas de 25 años...

  • 1:46 haha , sting can even make locness monster sound smooth haha!

  • Just as when this album first came out, I listened to it non stop. I wore the damn thing out. Now 20 years later I find myself still awed by these guys!!! During this this tour 20 yrs ago I waited 18 hours in line for tickets!

I have seen this vid probably a dozen times and it will never be enough! Still learning from Stewart's most prolific craft!

By the way Stewart use to use a single kick pedal to cover everything! Those are 64th notes kids! Never be another like Stewart Copeland!

  • Stewart actually uses in this tour a double kick pedal, but he is the best of all times, so i don't mind

  • Where are you hearing 64th notes?

  • andy summers has let himself go a bit lmao !

  • Your kidding right. The man is 60 some thing. Funny we as spectators do not know who these performers really are. ie what day to day struggles they experience! Just because they are super stars............. Some one ALWAYS has a negative comment. Do you play an instrument?

  • you obviouly werent born witha sense of humour, im sure blue peter did a bit about grow your own sense of humour in a cake tin or something? look it up anyways...

and yeah i play piano, guitar, double bass, drums, saxophone and violin. i have pretty much been playing instruments since i was like 2.

  • The Police are the only other power trio that can share the same stage with Cream!

  • True, and I'd also add The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

  • fair enough, but I wasn't alive when the Experience wqere playing. Sure we have all listen to the brilliance, but to have actually seen them on stage! I have seen THE POLICE. Andy is one of the reasons I play drums the style I do! I cannot recall a style such as he before THE POLICE. And I can't recall another band sounding as pioneering as THE POLICE!!!!!!!!! I play 5+ genres of music and still that band (Stewart) influences my drumming!

  • Andy is one of the reasons I play drums the style I do! ?

  • Andy can play drums too?

  • No, some numbskull said that (longmtn), and I was questioning him.

  • I dunno, I don't think Noel Redding was anyhting special. And Mitch Mitchell was, great, but not legendary.

  • as well as RUSH ;)

  • love it when his voice cracks :)

  • Awesome song. Out of curiosity, why does Stewart prefer the traditional grip?

  • Probably just the way he learned or the way he just likes to play. Feels more confortable..

  • he was taught that way by an armenian jazz drummer while growing up in beirut. and it probably has a lot to do with how he is able to get that serious WHACK on the snare powered by his left wrist.

  • Stewart's sound is based around a loud "crack" on the snare drum and hi-hat and traditional grip is the most effective way to maximize that sound. Matched grip is more suited to a drum sound based around the tom-toms. John Densmore's style is a good example of this.

  • he ones mentioned that he prefers the sound of the "loose" stick.

  • The Police has always reminded me of Rush

  • I always found Rush to be overly technical and boring. Neil Peart is probaby really good at math. Stewart Copeland has far more groove to his playing. But that's my opinion.

  • Now that I don´t get at all. The music is really hard to compare and the only thing that matches is that they are a trio. But in my humble opinion the police were playing in another league. Just listened to concert of RUSH on the radio. No offense - but I was bored to death.

  • The Police played in another league right. Even Sting said that most of their music was "two and a half minutes long and 500 miles and hours".

  • how could you be bored by rush! all three of them are extremely talented. that music they create is sooooo complex

  • They sure are, but the music does not appeal to me. God for them that they do for you.

  • what drumming...and what great song from the police...love this..hope they come together again soon.

  • I don't think Sting would be willing to do another tour with The Police...Kinda a shame

  • simplismente demais

  • It's really amazing how they can get that "Police" sound with nothing but three standard rock instruments! Copelands drumming is amazing... all those different cymbals and that soft snare drum. And they don't even need synthesizers - Summers' chorus-effects make up for that. "Every little thing she does is magic" doesn't work without a piano, though... I really don't like their concert versions of that particular song.

  • The crux of Police sound lies in its minimalistic approach. Backup musicians or backing tracks is not compatible with the signature Police sound. However, the studio recording of this song has lots of layers and this live version sounds a little bit empty. BTW, it's annoying to hear Sting's bass popping.

  • Copeland is a beast my goodness!!!!!

  • Ohhh Stewart Copeland, my hero.

  • Yes, Sting's voice is not quite what it was, but I think it was particularly tired on this show. I was lucky to see them in Cardiff in October 07 and I was wondering how his voice might be after they cancelled a few shows because of a throat infection. I needn't have worried. His voice was so strong that night.

The tour probably just caught up with him at this gig in Rio. And because he sings at the top of his vocal range for most songs, his voice is more likely to suffer.

  • the police were great at the wachovia center in philadelphia a few weeks ago. Stings preformace was perfect there. Everyone has bad gigs. Don't judge it on his age thhough.

  • Granted, it's not Sting's best performance, his voice cracks a few times...but I've heard this one live on his solo tours and he's sounded great on it.

  • When 900 years old YOU are, look(/sound/play/perform) as good YOU will not!

  • Speak like Yoda I must...

  • Sting has kinda slipped but Andy still nails it!!

  • Sting and the Police shit on everything ...no trio comes close wow!!!

  • Stewart Copeland its the most and electrifying drummer around the world. Thanks Stewart.

  • terrible is your fucking mouth...shut it up idiot. Get some culture and grow up.

  • The Police are the best band to ever hit this earth =] , i mean 3 of the best musicans playing togerher its awesome ,this is a great performance

  • don't miss this thing, POLICE compositions are 10 times more complicated than those of Rolling Stone or beatles!

  • Cant agree with you more. The Police acutally were the "new" Beatles throughout the 80s infact they succeeded them by the time Synchronicity came out

  • tonightwedancexxx - you sound like someone from Rolling Stone! If someone like the police more

    than the beatles, who care?s

  • Flat Flat Flat only the drummer has same feel its over sting and andy lets move on already

  • WTF sting sounds strange ... no comparison to the original cuz this fells really flat

  • its his age man he still does a good job of pulling off the songs tho..there is no way he can sing hit pitched songs like Roxanne with the perfect pitch like in the early days.

  • lo mejor de los ochenta y siempre.....

  • Stewart Copeland plays like a 20 yearld old in energy and enthusiasm. That alone is fucking genius at his age during this tour!

  • amen

  • Por favor!!! Qué comienzo de tema.

Los vi en River, Buenos Aires y me quede sin respiración. Soy un gran fan y tenía miedo de lo q podía pasar después de tantos años.

Sin duda alguna, la mejor banda de los ochenta.

    Gracias Stewart, Andy y Sting.

  • "YEAHHHHHHH-ahhhahah-OOOOOOOOO"

did someone hear that in the opening yell? man sting, that was a dissapointment...but good show otherwise

  • I heard Sting's voice crack in the opening part myself. I have to cut him some slack though...they were touring non stop and Sting was recovering from a throat infection.

  • You want the best. Check out Queen at Wembley. The best show you will ever see!

  • ???? improvinsando mal ???? que mal suena ??? desentona :S

  • I think that they used to be a lot better, but they are still one of the best bands that there ever was.

  • Hands down- the best fuckin'band there ever was/is and will always be-who can compare?

  • Queen? Led Zeppelin? Beatles? the list goes on

  • Lets just agree that they go a long side those great bands

  • nobody can´t compare. THE POLICE IS soooo faarrrrrrrrr the best band on universe !!!! that it.

  • U2!-Way to political!Queen-Zep-Beatles-They needed 4 in the band what the Police do with 3!

  • You are obviously not familiar with the hierarchy of legendary bands. Nobody surpasses the Beatles (which is why Sting himself is a fan). And just for the sake of argument, Sting was the primary songwriter for the Police. The Beatles had three members who all wrote numerous hit songs, as did Queen. Both bands had more hit singles and sold more albums. But hey... the Police are great, I love them. Its about time this reunion took place.

  • Verda Verda

acho que ele estive em Brasil por um tempo

  • (que saudade do Brasil)

    fala muito bem portugues

    very good !!!

  • (que saudade do Brasi)

    fala muito bem portugues

    very good !!!

  • you talk shit, this was a fuckin wkd concert and Sting fuckin kicks ass on the bass and stewart fuckin rocks on the drums and thats coming from a drummers point of view, WHOOOAaa!!!!

  • wooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stingsvoice crakced in the begining but he recovered quikly!!..I like this song live it sounds good Stewarts drumming is fantasstic and very tight

  • I think around 3:30 you heard enough of his gutar playing - that was fucking sweet!

    Stewart can rock out

  • Stewart is one aggressive,energetic,talented,badass motherfucker of a drummer!!DAMN!!!!!!

  • Look at the power and snap and precision Stewart has! Every time I see an ad "seeking drummer, must be under 30", I just kinda laugh to myself. Many of the strongest players you'll ever hear are over 40. Same for Sting - super tight bass play. Great players age well.

  • wonderful police!!!

  • wow!!! copeland is very good in this song!!! i like the various ways that he plays all of his fills...

  • great performance... although sting is kinda tired obviously... and andy is aging gracefully, he's the looker among the band

  • This song has some of the coolest lyrics ever! :)

  • Although it's not the same youthful tone I grew up with, these guys have found a cool way to blend aging gracefully with their playing. The song still kicks, but in a milder, classier way. What can you do, man? You can only rock out so much when you're in your 50's. Sting's bass playing is also way underrated.

  • Unfortunately Andy Summers has always been the underdog of this group, not receiving the much needed praise he deserves. His quirky ska like bites are what differentiates his style as well as the sound of this group. Stewart Copland is one of the finest drummers on the circuit, he is talented and has a driven zeal to play the hell out of those drums on every performance. Sting is getting overrated, and his ego is and will always be the issue with this groups success.

  • what really sucked about this concert was that the eq was playing up all the time, they never seem to get andy's guitar level right.

  • true... i would have liked to hear more of andy's guitar playing... that would have been nice.

  • The guitarist is great it's just they don't turn the volume up for him. Literally.

  • He's loud at the concert, just for the video through the mixer, sting's vocals are louder than everything else

  • Exactly. I was there. The sound was just perfect. The video was poorly mixed.

    Andy Summers rules!!!!

  • Just like rush - the guitarist is the least cared about of all, even though he's good.

    Stewart Copeland is rocking out

  • I feel a little bad for Summers. I'm sure that the mix for the camera was just shitty. I saw them in Atlanta and they were kickin'

And Stewart is rockin'. He may have some old man hands, but he still pulls off his signature licks with as much grace as he did when he was in his 20's.

  • Yeah i saw them in Birmingham they were awesome, easily one of the best concerts i've been too, next to Pearl jam lol.

  • ah, stings voice crack a little bit in one of the beginning cries.

  • true...
