  • LOL. "ooooo it's TERRIBLE!!"

  • Pickle Pie??? Of course the kids will say, "OOOOO IT'S TERRIBLE!!!"

  • 8 people can't count to 20!

  • I know what 20 pickle pie can beat, 19 pickle pie LOL :D

  • .......or maybe not?

  • @loveforlogos I can't narrow down the date, but it was definitely done in the '70s. Alas, there have been no new animated clips on the show for years now, it's all computerized :-( This style is now considered old school.

  • Ol' times :P

  • "It's terrible!" so was this bit ...

  • Diggler397, he wasen't really going to college. He used it as an excuse. He is actually in retirement.

  • lol I don't remember the ending to this! "ewwww it's terrible!" lol!!!!

This is such a great song! Love the sort of nostalgic "old time" radio quality to the vocals. Interestingly, I very first saw this in the Hebrew "Shalom Sesame" back in the dark ages; this is the first time I hear it in English! Great stuff! Thanks so much!

  • You know what I learned? Old Uncle Ned has 3 black friends.

  • @Derek51386

And they don't like pickle pie either,

  • EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

  • I love how his hat just deflates at the end. If the pickle pie is one of his specialties, I'd hate to see what he whips up at a whim.

  • This is like subliminal messaging

  • I love this song especially in Russian

  • i used to love this song when little and i still love it

  • Oscar the grouch would've said "It's good".

  • Oh my goodness!

I remember this so clearly :]

  • I'm not at all trying to exaggerate, but I could swear, this cartoon was also used in a children's math show in the seven-ties called Infinity Factory. The only difference is that the cartoon taught fractions.

  • Very likely. The Children's Television Workshop produced a few different shows. :-)

  • Lto theOto the Vto theE spells LOVE this song!!!!!

  • lol i remember this :D

  • I was told that Steve went to college to! I don't know if I'm gunna believe u or not though.

  • As far as I know, Steve Burns from "Blue's Clues" was not arrested for drugs, nor died from an overdose (he played a character on "Law and Order" that did, though), and *could* be at college, although I could not confirm that part online.

  • @TinyDancer500 I heard he joined a band

  • @TinyDancer500 Steve started a band. One of my coworkers even had a song on his ipod. I don't remember the name, but it should be easy enough to find online.

  • @TinyDancer500 @TinyDancer500 Steve started a band. One of my coworkers even had a song on his ipod. I don't remember the name, but it should be easy enough to find online.

  • @TinyDancer500 Steve Burns actually wanted to start his own indie band, and quit Blue's Clues because he didn't want his career to be ruined by the fact he was on a little kid's show.

  • this was my favourite song from sesame street :)

  • THE coolest song ever created, hands down.

  • Shame on you, Uncle Ned!

  • EWW! It's terrible!

  • @doug022771 I agree. There no such thing as a twenty-pickle pie.

  • used to LOVE this song

  • wow! i love classic sesame street cartoons like theese!!! now they just have CRAP! i mean serosly!!!...i mean give me a break...the Wiggles?? Boobahs??? what hapended to like Blues Clues with Steve as the host?? ya know? stuff liek that!

  • steve from blues clues went to jail

  • oh really?? for what?

  • for selling drugs...thats y joe took his place...honestly i always liked the episodes with steve the best...his shirt was pretty cool :)

  • @luvturltles26 Yeah, his shirt was awesome. Did he shoot his last episode from jail or something? Haha.

  • ohmygoodness i thought he went to college!

  • steve lives in brooklyn and as far as i know spends his time dating the little girls who actually watched his show in the mid 90's (sorry steve! ;)

  • @XxcHeYeNnAxX

    When was this sketch made?

  • @Pocockable Premiere ( as far as I remember):

    Episode #1442 -- May 20, 1980.

  • @XxcHeYeNnAxX The new Sesame Street Episodes: well, to be perfectly honest with you, I don't watch them at all anymore. But when the occasional modern-day nugget (such as Fat Blue and Grover) does show up on YouTube: well, only then do I watch it. Namely, because it's no longer about entertainment -- but instead, it's about fattening up their bank accounts!

    o:'-(

  • @XxcHeYeNnAxX I know, right? I mean, it seems like all the decent shows just vanished and were replaced with flipping crappy shows! Bring back Steve! Bring back Cookie Monster! Long live the Swedish Chef!!

  • Who would actually eat a pickle pie?

  • This was my favorite song..

    Aww (:

  • :X!

  • Pickle Pie Yuck!!!

  • then dont read the pickle book, its consumed by pickles.

  • Aaah this was my favourite song when I was about 4 - 5 years old <3

  • my son and stepson (5 and 2) looooooves this bit. my 1 year old is getting into it, too.

  • perfect!

  • LOL LUV

  • I'm surprised to see this on YouTube. I was the writer/animator for this and a couple of other Sesame Street films done in the 70s. The voice of Uncle Ned and other characters in these films is that of Jeff Hale, who was the force behind Imagination, Inc. in San Francisco, CA., for whom I worked at the time. He was also famous for other projects including a great little film called "Thankyou, Masked Man", based on a Lenny Bruce routine. Google him!

Fun to see these things again!

  • Thank you so much for the background info, always glad to hear more about these great clips! Any idea on the singer? Just curious. And please note the five stars, people still love 'em :-)

  • Hello Again. I don't recall the names of the singers and musicians were, just remember how thrilled I was sitting in the control-room while I watched and listened to them bringing my lyrics to life. I have copies of the other two films, which I can give you to post if you like, or I may just post them myself. The other two films are "Chickens in the Trees" and "Light and Heavy", which I don't see anywhere on the net. Jeff Hale is the voice in these, as he was in "20-Pickle Pie".

  • Did you know they changed this (and many other songs) for the german version of sesame street?

  • Funny! I'd love to hear the German versions.

  • Unfortunately I am not able to upload any videos, but some of the german songs are already uploadedhere on youtube.

For example: "Graf Zahl Knochenlied" (The Count - Bones)

  • Or "Ich mag Müll" (I love trash)

I believe you can find many german sesame street song when you look for "Sesamstraße deutsch"

  • Thanks.

  • What a celebrity you are in my eyes! My brother and I have been singing this song for the past 30+ years!:)Maybe you can help those of us obsessing over the "crack monster" 70s SesSt clip. VERY hard to find animation that many have hazy (& disturbing!) memories of and are dying to see again. B&W animation/girl w. frizzy hair talking to cracks on the wall in animal shapes? Scary face crack at the end screams/crumbles off wall, exposing brick? Please say you know where it could possibly be found??

  • That certainly does sound disturbing. I never saw that particular Sesame Street film and I think I'm glad! Are you sure you want to see it again?

In any case, sorry I can't help you.

  • Ha! Yes, it was a bit creepy, but that was also part of its appeal, and the appeal of a lot of 70's era SesSt. As adults we forget that sometimes its FUN to be creeped out as a kid, how it can deepen one's imagination, and its sad to see the 'dumbing down' of the show over the past 20 yrs or so. I know these vintage animated clips had a huge impact on me as a artist today, especially the stranger/psychedelic ones.

  • Tell me about your art. Are you an animator?

  • yes, I know about this video. Recently Sesame Street came out with all their old episodes on DVD. On purpose they "omitted" the Crack Animal episode because it scared so many people..It will be very hard to find.

  • @IMTubified You are awesome. Anyone who helped create these fantastic little videos is a hero of mine

  • @IMTubified My 18 month old daughter LUVS 20 pickle pie!!! Can you please tell me what episode it is from and do you know if there is a way to order the episode?

  • Somehow no one in their right mind will make pickle pies. Love the vid though.

  • haha id buy that!

    lol

  • sesame street is legendary. I loved all the songs!! I remember watching these when I was little! thank you so much fro putting them up, they bring back memories!

  • Now if the Falling Baker was carrying pickle pies, no one would have minded if he slipped on the staircase and dropped them all.

  • I remember hen I used to think that looked good! xD

OMG you have to love teh pickles! xD

  • I once saw a English and Hebrew version of this on the Israeli version of Sesame Street about 1,000 years ago.

  • omigod this brings back so many memories

  • wow. for some reason i just thought about two words and put them together... pickle pie... this is where it got me....wow

  • who makes "pickle pie"?

  • one word to sum this up: gross.

  • WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL!!! your wearing me down.

  • Who's singing this? It sounds like Fred Astaire, but I'm probably wrong.

  • I typed up the lyrics for you, remember?

  • YAY PICKLES!!!!

  • WOOO YEAH PICKLES!!!!

  • I actually used Pickle Pie in my Marketing Class project, promoting a new product. Got a pretty good grade too.

  • i don't remember this one either, but its funny!

  • Poor Uncle Ned! Ingrateful kids!!

  • wow.. I all but forgot about this clip....

  • I totally remember this! except i saw it in spanish

    :p

  • I've seen it in hebrew!

  • That song is very catchy, but off sync with the video.

  • I have seen this many times in Dutch dub,but this is better.

  • I never saw this on the show but I like it- the video seems out of sync when they're counting the pickles.

  • no, pretty sure its a 70's clip becasue my bro and I TOTALLY remember it!! We've been singing it for years - what a treat to find it again! I remembered every word...

  • I'm pretty sure this is from the 1970's or so, I remember it when I was a kid.

  • from the 60s i take it cos I missed this
