  • The frames that he designs and uses even alone blow my mind. Absolutely Brilliant.

  • I'm a new fan of Mark Ryden and I love his art. I wonder what this sort of art is called. Trying to learn his way of art but I'm not good with oil paintings. I use pencills.

If somebody know the name of this sort of art plz tell me.

And why does he has Japanese letters on his stuff? If you know plz tell me that too,

And I like this song, it's funny and gives a interesting feeling. If you know tell me that too XD

    take care everyone

  • 0:17 what is tthat sing on lincoln's hat?

  • oh man. the best of both worlds. i love abe. i love ryden. oh oh and the frame is exquisite!!

  • If your such a Lincoln fan, you should come to PA and actually visit the Lincoln memorial museum. We have his actual blood oh the American flag. Then we could actually hang out. If you dont mind hanging out with a nobody.

  • Gorgeous Mark. That frame is incredible!

  • Details seriously must come last!

  • He pulls out a five dollar bill as reference material at one point. I love you Mark Ryden.

  • Wish I had an extra !0 grand laying around .. I'd love this in my livin room.

  • The opening narrator is not Royal Dano as listed, but is actually Paul Frees.

  • I love Mark Ryden!!!

  • does anyone know what the chinese lettering means, im DIEING to know!!!

  • @funforthecost

    Big Meat Heaven (in Japanese)

  • i like the end song :D

  • awesome work, does anyone notice that the time lapse film conveniently skips over the real magic behind Ryden's technique at the end?

  • @tattoopooch

Yeah..still it is nice to see how he started off..

  • @tattoopooch yeah i know they don't want to give it away. thats the first thing i was looking forward to see as soon as i saw mark ryden time lapse.

  • @tattoopooch

    Yes. Certainly.

It appears that there is a softening and gray-ing with an airbrush in the final, finished work. However, Mr. Ryden is certainly entitled to his trade secrets. Best Regards to All :)

  • @artdonovandesign mark ryden uses oil paints. airbrush may be true if you were using a water based media like acrylics. but observing the 'fat over lean' rule in oil paint would make it prone to crack if her were to put a super thinned out layer of oil over the top layer. its just skill that he has, and alot of transparent layers of glazes.

  • @rfilyaw Hooray! Somebody else that's heard of '9: The Last Resort'! I loved that game, although it was so full of bugs that I couldn't finish it. But still, it was beautiful! :) It was also my first ever exposure to Ryden!

  • Is it just me or does abe at the end look a bit like Robert Knepper ?

  • LOL! Bing Crosby said "Who dat!" in that song. Always nice to hear Paul Frees. My fave cartoon narrator.

  • The opening narration from Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is actually Paul Frees. Royal Dano was the voice of Lincoln himself in the attraction. Awesome video! I love the work on the frame as well as the painting.

  • Great work as usual ;)

  • can i love your work even more Mark :) big hugs from your friend in oz ! jane x

  • Mark Ryden! I'm a big fan! You are amazing!

  • good stuff!

  • My son is named Abraham and my favorite car is a Lincoln! Ryden is so talented! I'm almost as good at cleaning my microwave oven as he is at painting, even though they are two totally different things! When I see his dedication to his art it makes my stomach hurt with a prickling love! I'm a girl by the way!

  • Check out the latest issue (Vol. 15) of Hi * Fructose magazine for more Mark madness!

  • lots of fun n wow Ryden is obsessed with the guy! :-D

  • I just lived a Great Moment with Mr. Ryden. Now you're in the Hall of Fame, a most respected gent.

  • Great vid. I enjoyed seeing you working.

I own a couple of your pieces, Madonna and Karl, and the Tree of Life. The attention to detail in your art is always amazing, and the craftsmanship of the framing, second to none.

I really hope I will be lucky enough to buy one of the 90 Pink Lincoln editions

  • What an unbelievable amount of dedication and work. Thanks for sharing. This was really inspirational.

The frame is a work of art all it's own... brilliant!

  • I meant Bali.

  • I just wish I could afford an original Ryden!

  • Beautiful work, great video! Thanks.

  • I adore Mark Ryden ♥

  • Thanks TonyElka, I stand (embarrassingly) corrected.

  • I am certain the voiceover intro to "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln" was that of the late great Thurl Ravenscroft (of many classic Disney voiceovers), and not the amazing actor Royal Dano (who certainly played Mr. Lincoln).

  • @scotthinkster That's Paul Frees, best remembered for providing the voice talent for Boris Badenov for the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons from Jay Ward. You can still hear the voices of Paul Frees AND Thurl Ravenscroft in the "Haunted Mansion" attraction at Disneyland, Frees is the "ghost host" and Thurl one of the singing busts in the graveyard.

  • What a wonderful Abraham Lincoln collection! Awesome x

  • Thanks for sharing this film, Mark! Loved getting a glimpse of the creative process. Your work continues to astound me.

  • wonderful! thank you!

  • Great Job!
