  • what a beast, all of the 14 8k meter peaks with out supplemental oxygen, wow

  • ed viesturs isn't an "author"; he's a world-class mountaineer that has written some books.

  • @fooloof

Here is the definition of author:

Noun. A person who writes a novel, poem, essay, etc.; the composer of a literary work, as distinguished from a compiler, translator, editor, or copyist.

I'd say he is a world class mountaineer and an author.

    Suck it.

  • @bigturtlehand: unlike you, I didn't have to consult the dictionary to see what an author was, but I congratulate you on your relentless pursuit of knowledge.

and the "suck it" doesn't help you make your point; it just makes you look really immature. have a great day!

  • Quite an achievement climbing all 14 8 thousanders. Viesters and Scott Fisher {deceased} were "rescuing" Chantal Manduit {deceased.} Chantal was one of those who loved the limelight but didn't like the tedium and hard work of mountaineering {from what I understand.} I think Viesters is a great mountaineer. I don't think he's any Messner or {who's the polish guy who died on Lhotse? Jerzy K.} These guys were great rock climbers and commandeered new routes. They broke "new ground."

  • Ed Viesturs kicks ass! New book is great!

  • proud to be Latvian!

  • where is the rest of the interview?

  • seems really humble. awesome climber but his part in 'vertical limit' was disappointing.

  • so many mountains so little time. what a charmer!

  • Ed Viesturs ROCKS

  • HEAVY!!!

    Ed's a true hero!!!

  • Ed, Such a gallant gentleman. This is what chivalry and gallantry are all about. Would that more men had your special qualities!! Thank you for sharing your amazing life stories.

  • @charlotteamalie lol yeah riiiight. Did you even read the book before you made your bullshit "twilight" comment? First of all, obviously Ed would attempt to save anybody who need rescue, secondly, Chantelle was hot and they had sex. and not that it matters but if anyone caused the death of chivalry it was women extorting men with their bodies. peace bitch.

  • @bensnow003: Yes I read the book and I loved it! I agree that feminism and promiscuity has destroyed a lot of the chivalry in Western Society; however, that does not detract from what Ed did. It is scary that someone as young as you could be so bitter!

  • @charlotteamalie Bitter? Hunny I'm what they call a realist. God knows i wish Women expected better treatment from Men but I see welcomed disrespect all too often here in fraternity-college life. Me included!

  • @bensnow003-Bear in mind this one, immutable fact: There is one woman out there who is your future wife. She is already picked out for you, you just have to find her and marry her. The way you are now treating other men's wives, so may your wife be similarly treated. Karma.
