After many many attempts at trying to figure out what is the best bait to use for catfish, I find the ultimate best is simply using alive small bluegill.

So, a little bit of corn to catch bluegill

then just toss the bluegill on a hook and eventually a really effing big cat will hit it (at night).

Not that smelly dead things don't work, but it tends to be only small catfish that hit that (from experience)...and it attracts too many gar anyhow.

i caught a 20 lb cannel using my bait so here it is,but trust me it sounds a little weird

1. cut a baitfish into little squares

2. stir in coolaid mix

3. put in ginger, cummin, and any other house hold spice

4. then put soy sauce, worschisire sauce and ranch.

5. let garlic merinade with bait for at least a day.

and trust me this sounds weird but its great bait....

so.. thats nothing special, i used to tie about 50lb fishing line into the logs and it always ripped. the trick is that you have to have good rod, i caught huge catfish with 10lb line. the rod snapped but line didnt. get a nice flexible garcia or sham rod =)
