  • these still give me goosebumps everytime i hear them.

    every song is a masterpeice

  • I love how there's a Christian dating ad on the side. "Jesus Christ is Lord" with a pic of a skanky looking blond. It should read: become a male seeking missile here

  • @antybobanty I've seen that too. Those advertisements are ridiculous.

On a side note, sick music!

  • I'm a drummer.

    Or that's what I think!

  • kind of a deftone/tool vibe

  • fuckin awesome

  • what genre are they anyway?

  • @DLozinski25

Awsome Progressive Music. Does it matter anyway?

  • @Cipry16 of course it matters if i know then i can listen to more great artists like Karnivool.

  • the time signature is just 4/4 and 3/4 alternating, but its phrased strangely. 6/4 - 6/8 - 7/8 - 13/8 - 11/4.

  • @qfbass one of my favourite songs btw

  • i always imagined what a drummer with toretz was like...i think i found my answer.

  • to bad they dont have they australian accents in their songs.. it sound pretty cool

  • WHERE'S YOUR GOD?

  • took me so long to work out that the intro is actually just in 6/8 with heaps of off-beat accents. karnivool fuck with my head and i LOVE it.

  • karnivool havnt made a normal song probly y there my fav band NEW ALBUM SOON

  • @TheFlamingMidget ... correction... thee best band to come out of australia ;)

  • Yay! 100th like! :D

  • The arrangement when the guitar solo kicks in is probably one of the most beautiful things to listen to on this album. But then again, so much is.

  • this is a great song, does anyone know the meaning behind it or a story?

i know caudal means the rear end, or tail. so the caudal lure could possibly mean something like the rear lure, referring to women and sex? not sure, would appreciate a clarification if anyone knows =)

  • @awesomefordy a caudal lure is what some snakes use to coax prey into coming to them. And from the lyrics it seems that religion is the snake. just my guess though

  • @awesomefordy A lot if not all of Karnivool's songs on this album hold some reference to the corrupt or perverted nature of religion, particularly Christianity. In this song Christianity is the "Snake we follow". In the opening verse Ian says "I won't let a saviour define my freedom" revealing his rejection of the Christian ideology of Jesus Christ the saviour. The repetition of "where's your god?" drives home the Godless nature of the piece.

  • @awesomefordy "there is something peculiar about the way you ay to save your soul, you forfeit your dream" highlights societies tendency to follow religion blindly, giving up it's aspirations so as to be saved in the eyes of the church.

  • I took a look at their Biography on wiki, they've been in activity since 1997 and I just discovered them yesterday=I was an idiot for 13 years.

  • @NeverendingMaze i have had these videos up for over a year i think. and this definitely is the best comment yet. everything else is. LYK OMG KARNIVOOL IS AWESOME. or they sound like tool

  • @NeverendingMaze dude I feel the same been listing to them the last two weeks

  • @NeverendingMaze dude same thing happened to me wtf

  • this is awesome!

  • This whole album is a fucking masterpiece, the guys have created some *seriously* intelligent music, that musicians and "ordinary folk" can appreciate all the same. Genius.

  • Isn't this supposed to be called The Caudal LIFE?

  • @joenic2791 no. check on wikipedia if you want

  • @JTbassist09 Just checked, thanks for the confirmation. It's been LIFE on my iphone forever. Itunes sucks for tagging, seriously. Change in effect...Now.

  • @JTbassist09 lol I changed wikipedia. Its now the colonels secret recipe XD

  • Replace the T in Tool with a V, and you end up with this awesome stuff^

  • I'm pissed to have just stumbled upon them a few days ago...but no worries. I'm HOOKED!!

  • this is by far a gay recognize comment... but just Karnivool make me feel like this... this song... the words just cannot describe.

    2:18 that part.. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhh...

  • one dislike. what an utter twat

  • this is genius..ppl r 2 dumb 2 appreciate i guess.

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • only steve judd could use 4/4 time and still confuse the shit outta me.

  • @MrInsignia16 Gavin Harrison

  • @jccdenton i thought steve did sound awake???

  • :-O .....omg....i ffffuckin love this band!!!!!!

  • finally learnt the whole song on drums after about 6 months of trying and practice :P

hopefully gona record it soon and post it up here :)

  • @datswotimtknbout Do it, been wanting to see someone cover this :D

  • This album is a musical masterpiece.

  • @Beyan94 not just this album, their first album was amazing too....it really is just the whole band...and Ian Kenny's voice to top off the mix of musical perfection

  • awsome song even more awsome lyrics!!

  • awsome song!!

  • plus the first snare is not on the down beat which makes people count it wrong

  • i count the intro 6/8 like the chorus. it just sounds wierd cause he hits the crash at the start of the 5th bar a 16th note late, cause he is a psycho

  • Comment removed

  • The vocal melodies in the verse is what gets me goosebumping...

  • @Nickolaars Last verse = win

  • Man! This is better than anything that has come out in... I don't know how long! Saw them live in Louisville, KY last night and as my friend put it, "they melted our faces off". These go to 11!

  • man this song is kick ass, the drumming especially, it gets to you.

  • people don't understand songs unless their time signatures are in simple 4/4 time, i say we need more songs like this!

  • @jgellert111 Dude the song only changes Time signature at the chorus - goes into 6/4 . the Verses and intro are all in 4/4 only the drummer is placing the accents and fills in the off beats. The song is fucking awesome.

  • @currolicious Actually theres a bar of 3/4 in the intro. then the rest is 4/4 - check out the dude's transcription of this song on here - is flawless!

  • @currolicious I've got the tabs, it reads : 12/16, 10/16, 13/16 for the intro, and 3/4 and 4/4 for the chorus and verses as far as I remember ! These are really really uncommon meters !

  • @NeverendingMaze The drum tabs? Or guitar?

  • @rohaninabout can"t remember, both i think

  • @NeverendingMaze Any chance you could send it through to me? That'd be awesome!

  • @rohaninabout yes though i got it from 911tabs, I usually don't download a tab unless it's rated 4,5 stars out of five at least, so there might be some mistake, just tell me where I can send it, and i'll take a look in my computer to see if i still have it.

  • @jgellert111 This is just pure brilliance!! And me being a Perth lad, i am very proud of Karnivool..... THE BEST!

  • @jgellert111 Dude. One of the many reasons I love Tool haha. I haven't really listened to these guys much so I don't really know. So far I'm loving them.

  • @jgellert111 Don't even know what a time signature is. But Karnivool kicks ass :p

  • Love this song!! The rythm shift rocks

  • can't wait for them to get to Toronto

  • Favorite album in 6 years.

    Favorite song off the album.

3:32-4:35 - How epic is that...

  • @lkaruga Best since Tool's Lateralus.

  • does he say, "I'm going outlaw"?

don't have lyrics, no USA release yet, Damn you Bieler Bros!

  • @EgoDrivenFIlms eBay my friend. eBay! Got mine in the summer for $20!

  • I can't even begin to comprehend the time signatures during parts of this song.

Anyone care to shed some light?

  • to complicated for me. :D

  • @ichimaruome Well I can tell you that everything from 0:33 to about 4:00 is in 4/4. I'm still having trouble deciphering the beginning and end of the song...can't tell if it's a rigid time signature with a lot of over the bar stuff or alternating signatures. Crazy!

  • Beginning and end it's just so great,I can't figure out in what time signature it is but I think you are wrong about that 0:33 to 4:00 cause chorus is in 6/4.

  • @Vool5 Yeah I suppose you're right 6/4 would make more sense in the choruses. Good call!

  • saw them at the middle couple of days ago

    amazing

got to help load their guitars into the venue :D:D:D

  • Just saw karnivool live at the Enmore, they played this and illumine! they also played Medicine Wears Off when they came back for the encore. Most amazing show.

  • haha such a loser - sassyt90 - they don't play this song live!

  • I love you Karnivool!

K:eep the good stuff coming, You do Oz proud!

  • I honestly have to say that i adore this song. Karnivool's first album was downright amazing and this is one that will be remembered along with it.

I will say they got softer on here, but it just goes to show you how amazing these guys are.

Themata is my fav album but i am in no way shape or form saying that i dont like this album. i play them back to back on my ipod whenever i get a chance to.

  • prog rock is awesome. :)

  • whattuning is this?

  • B-F#-B-G-B-E, which is a hybrid tuning of Dropped-B (low strings) and Standard E (high strings).

  • Otherwise known as the Karnivool Scale. They're the only band that uses it.

  • AKA Karnivool tuning Jono tells me =P. Im his cousin. They even use capos on 4 strings on one song i think. Crazy, ingenius

  • @JTbassist09 Legendary

  • @JTbassist09 hmm that i'm going to try that. sounds funky

  • are you high? or do you just fail like this all the time?

  • ok first of all i don't know why that comment deserved a insult! and secondly i admit i was wrong ,this album is awesome but completely different sound from themata. Both albums are kickarse in their own way but two completely different genres

  • fucking love this song! saw it live! fucking rocked!

  • Gah! I've seen them twice this year and they havent played this or Illumine either show :( Sad Panda.

  • I love Illumine =(. And this..and..and..and ..KARNIVOOL FTW!!

  • Holy shit. Listen to that drummer.

  • @BurnTheArtGallery Danny Carey > This Guy.

  • @BurnTheArtGallery His name is Steve Judd, and he is AMAZING

  • @BurnTheArtGallery

Wooow!! for a moment i thought it was Donati's solo career xD

  • @BurnTheArtGallery Too much cymbal. Danny Carey for the win!!!

  • very good cd, probably going to be my favorite for a little while...

  • Favorite song off the album... All of the drumming is amazing, the paths and the timings is rediculously epic. I realy wanna see someone cover this too. Props to Karnivool, probly #1 album to have come out in the last 3 years to me.

  • I say best album since Tool's Lateralus. That's 8 years!

  • HO-HO-HO! Woah nelly...

  • Comment removed

  • Probably my favorite off the album. prog rock <3

  • I wish it was prog metal. I know this album was just to show everybody just how talented they are (this even suprised me how talented this album is to write), but i wish they would at least have some heavy parts, it would have been a great combination, super heavy and mellow talented parts are a brilliant mix, but Karnivool don't show it. Still a brilliant album despite all the anti-religious stuff (i hate that). Rock on KARNIVOOL!

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
