I love how there's a Christian dating ad on the side. "Jesus Christ is Lord" with a pic of a skanky looking blond. It should read: become a male seeking missile here
this is a great song, does anyone know the meaning behind it or a story?
i know caudal means the rear end, or tail. so the caudal lure could possibly mean something like the rear lure, referring to women and sex? not sure, would appreciate a clarification if anyone knows =)
@awesomefordy a caudal lure is what some snakes use to coax prey into coming to them. And from the lyrics it seems that religion is the snake. just my guess though
@awesomefordy A lot if not all of Karnivool's songs on this album hold some reference to the corrupt or perverted nature of religion, particularly Christianity. In this song Christianity is the "Snake we follow". In the opening verse Ian says "I won't let a saviour define my freedom" revealing his rejection of the Christian ideology of Jesus Christ the saviour. The repetition of "where's your god?" drives home the Godless nature of the piece.
@awesomefordy "there is something peculiar about the way you ay to save your soul, you forfeit your dream" highlights societies tendency to follow religion blindly, giving up it's aspirations so as to be saved in the eyes of the church.
@NeverendingMaze i have had these videos up for over a year i think. and this definitely is the best comment yet. everything else is. LYK OMG KARNIVOOL IS AWESOME. or they sound like tool
This whole album is a fucking masterpiece, the guys have created some *seriously* intelligent music, that musicians and "ordinary folk" can appreciate all the same. Genius.
@JTbassist09 Just checked, thanks for the confirmation. It's been LIFE on my iphone forever. Itunes sucks for tagging, seriously. Change in effect...Now.
@Beyan94 not just this album, their first album was amazing too....it really is just the whole band...and Ian Kenny's voice to top off the mix of musical perfection
i count the intro 6/8 like the chorus. it just sounds wierd cause he hits the crash at the start of the 5th bar a 16th note late, cause he is a psycho
Man! This is better than anything that has come out in... I don't know how long! Saw them live in Louisville, KY last night and as my friend put it, "they melted our faces off". These go to 11!
@jgellert111 Dude the song only changes Time signature at the chorus - goes into 6/4 . the Verses and intro are all in 4/4 only the drummer is placing the accents and fills in the off beats. The song is fucking awesome.
@currolicious Actually theres a bar of 3/4 in the intro. then the rest is 4/4 - check out the dude's transcription of this song on here - is flawless!
@currolicious I've got the tabs, it reads : 12/16, 10/16, 13/16 for the intro, and 3/4 and 4/4 for the chorus and verses as far as I remember ! These are really really uncommon meters !
@rohaninabout yes though i got it from 911tabs, I usually don't download a tab unless it's rated 4,5 stars out of five at least, so there might be some mistake, just tell me where I can send it, and i'll take a look in my computer to see if i still have it.
@jgellert111 Dude. One of the many reasons I love Tool haha. I haven't really listened to these guys much so I don't really know. So far I'm loving them.
@ichimaruome Well I can tell you that everything from 0:33 to about 4:00 is in 4/4. I'm still having trouble deciphering the beginning and end of the song...can't tell if it's a rigid time signature with a lot of over the bar stuff or alternating signatures. Crazy!
Beginning and end it's just so great,I can't figure out in what time signature it is but I think you are wrong about that 0:33 to 4:00 cause chorus is in 6/4.
Just saw karnivool live at the Enmore, they played this and illumine! they also played Medicine Wears Off when they came back for the encore. Most amazing show.
I honestly have to say that i adore this song. Karnivool's first album was downright amazing and this is one that will be remembered along with it.
I will say they got softer on here, but it just goes to show you how amazing these guys are.
Themata is my fav album but i am in no way shape or form saying that i dont like this album. i play them back to back on my ipod whenever i get a chance to.
ok first of all i don't know why that comment deserved a insult! and secondly i admit i was wrong ,this album is awesome but completely different sound from themata. Both albums are kickarse in their own way but two completely different genres
Favorite song off the album... All of the drumming is amazing, the paths and the timings is rediculously epic. I realy wanna see someone cover this too. Props to Karnivool, probly #1 album to have come out in the last 3 years to me.
I wish it was prog metal. I know this album was just to show everybody just how talented they are (this even suprised me how talented this album is to write), but i wish they would at least have some heavy parts, it would have been a great combination, super heavy and mellow talented parts are a brilliant mix, but Karnivool don't show it. Still a brilliant album despite all the anti-religious stuff (i hate that). Rock on KARNIVOOL!
these still give me goosebumps everytime i hear them.

the time signature is just 4/4 and 3/4 alternating, but its phrased strangely. 6/4 - 6/8 - 7/8 - 13/8 - 11/4.
