  • RODNEY MULLEN

  • almost round 3

  • best clash song

  • almost round threeeee

  • @timcoe82 oh ya it was a good time brother. Never seen many different groups come together during a great song. We even had sum G's and metal heads belting the song side by side. Good stuff. And to answer ur question this song will never get old! On repeat all day! Lol

  • My favourite Clash track and in my all time top 10 EVER! Is it possible to get bored of this tune?

  • Me and a buddy sang this song for karaoke next thing u kno the whole bars singing it

  • @randomazn420 Would have loved to have been there.

  • i miss the clash..

  • the dislike bar is like justin beibers penus u cant see it but its still there

  • such an amazing song. brilliant.

  • RIP Joe Strummer. Even though it was released in 1979, it made a Rolling Stones list of top albums (I think for the 80s -- someone please check me on this).

  • i have a feeling my whole neighborhood just listened to this song

  • burp )=

  • I love the Clash. It doesn't matter if they were pop or punk. they wrote some great songs, opened a few minds, an were too far ahead of their time. Just think of how many clash songs you can hum the lyrics to.... you don't see bands like the Clash anymore...

  • Class doesn't begin to describe this song, no words can

  • I like the way he says "Said you felt trapped".

  • kick ass!

  • this one and london calling-

  • This song reminds me so much of my exboyfriend. Holy fuck. Amazing song nonetheless. I can dig this.

  • still one of the favourites

  • whore

  • the irony of this song and my life is almost funny.....

  • NCAA 06!

  • i don't know why this track is celebrated as proof of their versatility. That pop sound makes me want to push a screwdriver into my ear whether its Justin Bieber or the clash.

  • Comment removed

  • @thumpah Do you think the Ramones and the Buzzcocks sound like pop too?

  • @answersInNemesis

i am only referring to this particular track, which happened to be one of the few pop sounding tracks the clash attempted; i was not calling all punk music pop... obviously.

  • @thumpah I don't think they were trying to sound pop, just cause a song gets popular doesn't mean that they were making a stab at popularity... a lot of punk songs sound like this so I don't know why you think it sounds like pop.

  • @thumpah look if you knew anything about music youd realize than anything in a major scale it will sound somewhat pop and half the songs ever are in the major scale

  • @petsBenham

even the layman can hear that this sounds nothing like their back catalogue and more like garbage that was being churned out on top of the tops back then . Coming from a punk band who maintain that they hold a counterculture ideology, i see this as a hypercritical move not an expression of versatility.

  • @thumpah fine whatever bare in mind this was not written by the anger rebel driven strummer but by the happier mick jones no knock on him still a great guitar player

  • hey everybody just sayin i like the ramones and justin bieber so go suck adam lamberts dick bitch

  • splendid they did rock and pop so very very well luv always

  • I dislike the 7 don't like!

  • if you want to see a really good use of this awesome song type "rodney mullen almost round 3" into your youtube search bar, you wont be disapointed.

  • best part 1:03

  • best clash song of all time

  • ... by the way, just asking overly, great mural, who did it? that's all for now.

  • wow, even back then you can see the character and aging in their faces.. but they were snot nosed punks.. ...... heh, weren't we all... always. :D

  • @springloadedchicken 'wow, even back then you can see the character and aging in their faces..'

Your point being that every great musician and genius grew young before their time? Musicians have followers, too. They are right brain politicians.

My brother is a musician. He lived in an abandoned warehouse for three years. He did approximately 3 million push ups, when he wasn't attempting to fend off the black dudes trying to mug him. They left him alone after a year.

    It shows on his face.

  • 7 people were run over by a train!

  • my favorite clash song and one of the greatest songs ever

  • @shebangsthedrums89

My fav is still Rock The Casbah. Thanks Simpsons!

  • @shebangsthedrums89 same! and I agree.

  • this song pretty much explains my life

  • my brothers show me the clash i am from lebanon if he didn t show me i d never know about them

  • Thank god i grew up around my aunt, who was a huge fan of The Clash. It left a mark on me too.

  • I'm impressed by my music taste back when I was 13.

  • "So alone I keep the wolves at bay- and there's only one thing I can say- you didn't stand by me, no at all"....But you don't understand my point of view- I suppose there's nothing I can do-oo- you didn't stand by me, no not at all " lol, Hell Yeah, my sentiments EXACTLY !!!!

  • APOLONIO's version - soundcloud com/apolonio/apolonio-08-train-in-vain/

  • The Clash hit #23 in Billboard, 5-24-80. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Joe Strummer.

  • @techspecr2 I think he meant the song, most people only recognize their hits.

  • awesome

  • What a god damned amazing song.

  • Round 3

  • Way excellent! Totally a Classic!

  • Awesome song.....a true classic

  • so alone i keep the wolves at bay..

  • Awwwwwsomeeeeee

  • Comment removed

  • rodney mullen :D

  • All time classic. Love this song.

  • Is this Mick on vocal? Is it the b side of Bankrobber?

  • @mangekyovision yeah dude i need to put this on my ipod and plus you probably got good sk8ing song from rodney mulen almost round 3

  • why does lady gaga's born this way have 61 million views on youtube and the clash has only 100 thousand. what does that tell you about society's taste in music or lack there of?

  • @scienceatheism Why the fuck does Justin Bieber have 500million on baby?!?!?!?!?!?

  • are you serious? SHOOT ME NOW!!!!

  • @scienceatheism I lol, whats the world coming too?!?!?!?!?!?

  • im crying. i really am. I have now shat my pants and am now crying.

  • @scienceatheism i almost want a story

  • story? what the hell does that mean?

  • @scienceatheism well your original comment said "im crying. i really am. i have now shat my pants and am now crying."

the clash made you do all that? what i meant was, i almost want to know the story behind your comment.

  • no im crying because lady gaga and justin bieber has more views then this video. this is the clash man, joe strummer, mick jones, paul, nick. its just blows my mind that bieber gets more attention then bands, even old bands with this amount of talent. its disgusting, repulsive. and retarded.

  • @scienceatheism i was a 90s kid i didnt know about this growing up, but i got old and wise, discovered the clash and love it now...these dumbass kids will come around...great music is timeless

  • yeah i doubt it, i started singing The Kinks song Lola around a few people, all the time just randomly and not a single person knew what was i talking about or singing about. Great music is timeless, but fewer and fewer people are going to be listening to it because it isnt new. I mean does any of us listen to songs from the 20's or 30's? imagine that, in the next 30 to 40 years.

  • @scienceatheism good point...sad but true...but then again you always have the beatles and elvis...they still have plenty of die hard fans despite the fact that most of their music is 50- 60 years old...not that i expect the clash to reach that kind of cult status, but at least a few did...hats off to them!

  • @lovemetalhatejuggalo try 30-35 years old you empty headed moron ; )

  • @lovemetalhatejuggalo sorry mate too much ale . apologies .

  • @scienceatheism President Obama just started a twitter account, and the only 2 people with more followers than the President of the United States are Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. As Andy Parsons pointed out, this is one good example of why the world may very well be doomed.

  • i sure do love the fact that we americans hold our celeberties to a higher standard then we do our president. Its not like he has peoples lives in his hands. No lady gaga is our saviour.

  • @scienceatheism Instead of Obama coming up with some medical care reform that we obviously need desperately, I think we should have Lady Gaga design us all shiny new clothes. I know that whenever I'm sick, ridiculously showy clothing makes me feel better. And when I listen to techno beats? Well let's just say my cancer didn't cure itself.

  • wars? who the fuck cares about stoping that shit, what we need is fashion tips. Economy is for loosers kesha bringing the heat and the beat now that will give me a house and food on my plant.

  • SOME REAL FUCKING MUSIC!!!!!

  • I agree 100%

  • My favorite Clash song.

Garbage sampled the drums in Stupid Girl. Someone may have already said this here, but I am not sorting through 175 comments to check!

  • Best song to have on while getting drunk with friends.

  • Great song. Love the lyrics since they ring true to the T

  • rodney mullen

  • COME ON, who the hell are the 5 boobs who didn't like this one?! God help us, they are probably bieiber fans...Bring back good music like the Clash!!

  • As I recall, this was a bonus track on the "London Calling" and wasn't even listed on the album cover.

Is "London Calling" the best album of all time? Maybe!!

  • @PackerBronco Just because you said maybe. I almost voted you down. It is for SURE!

  • @PackerBronco

It was actually the last song in the CD album. Side four, final track on the vinyl.

  • I just love this long. I can listen to this tune all day long.

  • Perfect rhythm, The Clash were in a category of their own!

  • Yeah I gotta job, but it don't pay.

  • A bit of trivia - Mick Jones, who co-wrote and sung lead on this song, broke up with the Slits' guitarist Viv Albertine shortly before he wrote this, and it is possible this song is a response to the Slits' song "Typical Girls," which mentioned women standing by their men.

  • Quality!!

  • THAT ARM

  • Who are the 5 Clowns that disliked this! never right

  • @dontlookbakin2thesun i bet its Osama Bin Ladins new scheme. He doesnt have the money to bomb things anymore so him and his crew just go around voting awesome things down on youtube. Hes such a rebel!! Wow!

  • @dontlookbakin2thesun bet its Osama Bin Ladins new scheme. He doesnt have the money to bomb things anymore so him and his crew just go around voting awesome things down on youtube. Hes such a rebel!!

  • Get on the Train!

  • my jam

  • yess....it goes well while skateboarding c=

  • Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this song, but I can't understand what exactly defines it as "punk rock". It sounds a lot more like Cheap Trick to me than, say, the Buzzcocks or the Damned. Even Costello sounded much angrier and grittier than this, and people hardly ever call him punk rock.

    Was it the clothes?

  • This song gives a sense to my life.

  • i heard this on ncaa 06

  • you didn't stand by me

  • The worst part is at 3:13

  • this is the kinda shit that makes great britain, great.

  • The only band that mattered......rocked the world with this jam. The genius of this track is the simplicity of life. "I remember these things the most" echoes what we long for, the glorious past and what we strive for, the unknown future. God blessed these men with unbridled talent.

    Peace

  • This is probably my favorite song of all time

  • Best part about this is that the clash didn't even write this song... Micheal Jackson did. still a good song though

  • @psycko6 was that supposed to be funny? or just wanted to create controversy... It don't work anyway.

  • Comment removed

  • @psycko6 Dude, I have no idea where you got that.. Michael Jackson did NOT write Train in Vain..lol

  • @psycko6

    Are you daft, child?

  • @psycko6 it was written mostly by mick jones, think joe strummer wrote bits, don't know where you got michael jackson from?

  • @psycko6 Dude...I'm pretty sure Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. wrote it in 1956 at the Copacabana pissed up drunk hanging out with Mickey Mantle. I think Mantle played the harmonica, too.

Moral is: Next time you throw out statements like that you better have some serious documentation. LOL!

  • @psycko6 lol dude im not mad but the clash were a band before michal jackson became famus train in vain is a really old song man jackson copyed thes lol

  • This Song fucking rocks!

  • I like the way he says "said you felt trapped" at 0:26.

  • this song isnt punk but thats alright

the clash towards the end experimented with different genres of music which makes them such INCREDIBLE ARTISTS and better than the sex pistols

  • I think how my ex-boyfriend dumped me when I was down. BASTARD

  • Damn man, that art work at the end made me cry a little :) Luv ya Joe!

  • Do they ever say the words "train in vain" in the song?

  • @NozBoyHux not really, no

  • I just love this group. This is my "FAV" of all there songs.

    Dan

  • This is in my all time top 50

  • Excelete tema!!!

  • I love this song...I love skate witch this song:D

  • @jjvb74 great song but definitely not punk

  • @7jibber7 haha, your kidding right? the clash ARE punk. they represent punk. this song is defo punk. so it's got a bit of a ska twist, still punk mate (:

  • @Calamari5 im just saying this isnt a punk song.. they have other songs which are.. but this isnt on

  • @7jibber7 it is, it's just not a stereotypical fast paced pistols type song.

  • prfct!!!!

  • ...so alone I keep the wolves at bay...Miss you Joe.
