If you could hold a party on a drumset, Tommy would probably be the first to try it. Wait, he probably already has. Nice grooves, as usual. Wish I were his drum tech.
Pretty impressive.. to watch. WTF is the music? I'm no Motley fan but that sounded like what movies in the 90's thought the soundtrack to today would be. My god, the AMOUNT OF PHONES filming in the crowd is pretty funny. As was him totally dropping the groove when the fan was riding with him.
Before we had mobile phones folk would just go mental at gigs. Now they just stand and point their Nokias at the stage. Mobiles should be banned from concerts.
Other than making lots of money, infesting his body with lots of drugs, spending a lot at the tattoo parlor.........he is not a very good drummer. He is a showman with a foul mouth, not a musician. He would be better of enjoying boat rides with skanky women were it not for the fact there exist many drugged up people who are brainless and foolish enough to spend money attending this type of circus act. This is the face and proof positive of a very uneducated society.
@pavlovsdog3 Actually he is a good musician, and a great showman; he may not be as good as maybe John Bonham, or Kieth Moon that put out amazing beats with a simple 7 or 8 piece kit, but you have to give him credit he is a decent musician, there are much much worse. I've tried drums, it takes a decent amount of skill to keep a steady beat and throw in all the flourishes that we have come to expect from a drummer.
great drummer yes all drummers are freaks Im a drummer ,gimmic yes Buddy would have done it .he was crazy ,listen to the stories on old Jonny Carson shows he partied hard but the technogly wasent there
@Crownrep7: Wait a minute. I'm sure there are a lot of different opinions out there, but the balance in his checkbook has nothing to do with whether he's a good musician or not. He may have a lot of money, and that's because he's in a popular band, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's good. You need to come up with a better arguement than that. Personally, I think he's an okay drummer, but one of best of our time? I'd have to respectfully disagree with you on that one.
@fessrap23 yea he's motherfucking Tommy Lee and so what if it was a circus act I'd like to see you spin round and a round playing drums try kicking the drums upside down and playing without having the drumsticks fall down
i saw this show live in st. louis and motley crue never ceases to amaze me. i took one of my friends who hated the crue and she left a fan. tommy is a great freaking drummer and he cracked me up that night XD
fuck it...tommy is 49 years old and still kicks ass like he is 22. kudos to him for staying youthful and having fun with it all. better than reading about a washed up rock star who ended up face down in a ditch
@wasabi51569 Good. You wont buy a ticket to the Crue show. But, you will watch them for free on you-tube and then you have the balls to bash them. Get the fuck off this site. We dont dont want you here anyway. You fucking jack-off.
I love the way Tommy Lee keeps an edge by introducing cool ways to play the drums every tour. That should set the standard for every rock band to have a cool niche like that. Too cool TOMMY !! (I liked you on the boat playing P.A.'S drums best !!) : P
@mrtavladan56 love rollercoaster, the red hot chili pepper's version. It's on the beavis & butthead do america soundtrack, back when dave navarro was in the band.
i think anyone who has anything negative to say about any musician ,famous or not , can go suck a dick , at least they have the balls to get on stage and do what they love . music is not about who is better than who , its about having fun and doin what you love to do . its a bonding experience between the band and the audience and clearly tommy lee is fuckin great at his job .... well done tommy lee !!!!!
Tommy was talking about this idea in his autobiography "Tommyland"...he's always pushing the envelope...gotta love it...BTW,it's about entertainment!...some of you dickwads need to understand that's why you go to a concert...
To all of the jealous drummers that have posted negative comments - Look at you balance in your checkbook...........is there less than $1,000,000,000 in there?!?!
Then does it really matter that this wasn't technical enough... or he sucks.... or oh if Buddy Rich would've played that (he would've puked!)............
The fact is that Tommy Lee is one of the BEST MUSICIAN'S OF OUR TIME!!!!!!!!!
PERIOD
So go find something else to cry about ..............
@crownrep7 I am going to have to disagree with that last part. I am a drummer and I am jealous of his wealth not his skill, because there isn't much of that. He doesn't do much to change the world of drumming. And the spinning upside down, that has nothing to do with drumming, and thats his only innovative idea. But Tommy Lee compared to Mike Portnoy, or Neil Peart, drummers from the same era... he doesn't even come close to their abilities. He may be good but not one of the best of our time.

He is good, but he doesn't do enough for me to really get me interested. But he is a very solid drummer and it is always nice to see innovative things such as the 360.
Awesome Tommy has always wanted to do something like this. Oh and he does play drums in this, a drum solo does not have to be a 5min spot to show off all the fancy fills and how fast you can play. Tommy creates something and for me always will be a leader of things to do with the drum kit.
@BRAVOADD...you are a complete idiot! Tommy Lee was the first to ever do anything like this and it started in the 80's during the Theatre of Pain tour. Dumb ass.
@zdawgsdad ..it didn't start 'til the GGG tour and the idea was taken from Mick's old drummer. He was the first one to use the Tommy Girls tour drum set gimmick.

@RoseGunnerX That's not at all relevant...The question isn't whether or not I can play. The issue is that the talented professional drummer is barely showcasing his talents. It's all flash, no substance.
Just got back from the Houston show and got in a debate with a friend over whether or not the roadie falling off the "360", as it's referred to as here, was staged or not. To prove my point I figured I'd look up a video. Just wondering if anyone else saw someone falling off of the big rollercoaster thing at a show in a different city.
I love when he does stuff like this, but its far from new. He used to do these types of "tricks" with every tour back in the 80's, early 90's. Not dissing the concept because they are awesome, but it's not new for Tommy to fly around the audience.
WOW who would not have enough common sense to know that this would have to be recorded, umm how do you think the song would have all of the accoustics, etc. with noone on stage but him?? REALLY?? Also, this is an arena and the drums would not sound the same while he is turning in that thing, This is for show and either way pretty fucking cool to me!! Rock it Motley!!

A little bit lame to stop the momentum of the entire show just to strap that other guy onto the thing. But very cool anyway!
