im not a christian, but i hate when people say "christianity is evil". isnt there something like 80 different denominations of christian? all having their own beliefs about god and jesus. even two people within the same denomination can have differing points of view.

I have been wanting an itouch for years. It was when the 4th one came out but we did not have a lot of money, so i went for the 2nd one. I am a Libertarian as well as a Christian. I don't worship my god out of fear of going to hell, I worship because I want to and choose to. I view god as someone who helps me and shows me how to better my life not as someone who condemns me whenever I sin. I have morals that do come from the bible(not just the non aggression principle) but I can't legislate and would refuse to legislate most of those morals. All I can do is express my opinion to people when they ask and hope for the best.

That's a common misconception. It is not the unbelievers that go to hell first...it's the cowards. Atheism is really the manifestation of inner cowardice you don't want to face. I prayed to god for it and three weeks later my dad randomly comes up to me and asks if i want an itouch so he goes online and buys me the 4th gen. My prayer was not only answered, but i got more than i asked. The verses you use in Matt to support your hell theology, are actual teachings from Christ to the Jews of the coming wrath on Judea and the end of the age of the OC (Matt 24:3). I agree that the christian church itself is evil, though I think the reasons are attributable to the religion, the creed, itself, and not the underlaying belief in the deity.
Also, regarding your first analogy; you have to consider that, in the case of god, the person with the mind reading machine would also be ultimately responsible for creation. So, everything would therefore technically be his, so you could say that he would have a legitimate case for imposing rules on those who use it.

Indeed, religion has often been used as a justification to commit heinous crimes against people; though, as I've said, this would be why institutionalized religions are bad. I am a Libertarian as well as a Christian. I don't worship my god out of fear of going to hell, I worship because I want to and choose to. I view god as someone who helps me and shows me how to better my life not as someone who condemns me whenever I sin. I have morals that do come from the bible(not just the non aggression principle) but I can't legislate and would refuse to legislate most of those morals. All I can do is express my opinion to people when they ask and hope for the best.

The TRULY valuable teachings were removed, and the simpler teachings of morality and behavior were kept in order to give it a sense of validity.
