  • im going to bring my bike to vietnam and ride it too!!!

  • @ongne1234 have fun, be sensitive to the environment in traffic and have fun.

This video was shot after many visits to Hanoi and one full month of riding in the streets there. Riding any track bike without brakes in Vietnam's cities is not really advisable if you are inexperienced.

  • fixed gear in VietNam is a totally bad combination..

    1. rough streets,

    2. traffic

3.no one knows how to use it

  • damn this is crazy, i should bring my to VN and ride too

  • Dang, that looks fun to bike in. haha

  • Thanks for a fascinating view of Hanoi.

  • Ballsy. Love it.

  • the reason why people dont have fixed gear there is because countries dont manufacture bikes like that and send them to vietnam

  • I think this is correct. Also, most anyone would rather be on a motorbike.

  • hi there

    i will travel to vietnam.

    is there a fixed scene?

when yes how i find them?

    roll on

    pete

  • I don't know if there is a "scene" there or not.

Given the rapid popularity of "fixies" there may be people who ride them there but in 2007 I was the only one.

  • that plase looks dangerous for cyclists.

  • wow is very dangerous...

  • That is brilliantly done. How are the roads in Hanoi? Comments on bike shops and access to parts in general? Any cycling clubs in the city?

    Cheers!

  • that must be boring to ride there

  • This is skill riding to me man, especially when your clipped in. ( I'm a beginner on fixed gear)

  • Mad props.. you'd think in that much traffic everyone would ditch the two wheeled motor bikes and just stick with a pedal bike lol. Fixed gear 4 life. Good to see you keeping it real in a very hard environment

  • your hat rules, Where'd you get it?

  • RVA.

My friend Stu made a bunch and I was lucky enough to get one.

  • cool man.

I ride brakeless fixed too and I've been riding in China for the past year. Cheers to not allowing chaotic foreign traffic to keep you off your steed!

  • wow thats one hack of a chaotic video. glad to see you survived the ride! :D

  • Does everyone ride two-wheel there ? :) nice vid

  • Wow that's crazy, glad you're ok. I'm going to Vietnam in July for 3 weeks to see family. Did you happen to find any good bicycle shops in Hanoi?

  • There is supposed to be a good shop opening, but I am unsure if it's open yet. The bike shops are all on Pho Ba Trieu (Ba Trieu Street) just south of Hoan Kiem. They have pretty cheap bikes, but often have parts for nicer bikes, tubes etc.

  • nvm i think you are, saw those skip stops lol

  • yeah, no brakes. alot of the time the gaps you aim for close up and you have to be quick to slow or else. during a month riding there with no brakes, I only had one mishap when a girl made a quick left in front of me. I got second degree burns on my shin so I never wore shorts again.

  • awesome stuff, were you riding brakeless?

  • It's so fun there, always a challenge.

  • you got someone ride a moped behind you with a camera?

  • yep!

  • Jeans "out of style"? That's Fashion bro, I don't give a fuck about fashion, the style is in the ridin!

  • I thought you had a brake lite on that fixie but it was just the scooter in front shining through your crotch.

  • that was cool, but your jeans are really out of style.

  • awesome!
