Since I was more of a Nintendo kid the first few years of my gaming life, I never owned a Genesis, nor did I have interest in buying one. Then, around 2000, I was introduced to Sonic through the crappy PC versions of the classic games. If it was not for the release of Sonic Mega Collection, I would have never gotten to play the original Genesis versions. Props to Sega for making this!

omg went to xboxlive on generations and heard this theme and couldnt put it together where i heard the theme before it was driving me infuckingsane then someone helped me out :D i remember this game for gamecube! and untill i heard the theme again I had forgotten I had ever purchased this game. Brings back memories of late junior high!

@MrBurgundy76 still, way better than the xbla versions. xbla ruined the sonic 3 and knuckles save feature! you cant even play through the game as super sonic after beating it!

Well actually in my Opinion this game for the GameCube. Then was ported to Mega Collection Plus and was created in 2003, And then they show something about Sonic Heroes, Comics, etc. And new games like Sonic Drift. I own the Gamecube Version of this game b cuz i used to love it, My brother likes to play the RE series (REISDENT EVIL) and he was scared so sonic was coooool and actually he makes the best series, And i prefer Sonic 06 was not in my opinion b cuz sonic dies at a cutscene. So it suck

I just bought this game for gamecube to play on my WII and all I can say is I cant believe it only costed 10 dollars!, damn good game to bring back the memories, and thank god you can also play the adapted versions both sonic 2 and sonic 3 fused with sonic and knuckles. the game was a win.

i have this entire collection on my Wii lol. although its all the VC versions... and without Flicky since they haven't got that on VC. i also got the Zelda Collectors Edition on my Wii too! again....in VC format lol. The first Sonic's I ever played where Sonic 2 and 3D Blast; when I became 10, I was obsessed with Sonic, and my dad bought this game, because it had like 8 Sonic games in one, and because it had a neat price; not knowing the gem he buy...

Back when I owned this fantastic work of art, I used to spend every evening watching the intro of Sonic CD and crying about how beautiful it was. Toot Toot Sonic Warrior is fine, but the US song brings tears bursting forth....this music does a fair job of that too!

You can also play the NTSC version, Select Sonic 1, press UP, Z, DOWN, Z, LEFT, Z, RIGHT, Z and "US" is placed next to the game's preview picture, another code let's you play the JAP2 version, but I think it's default, after that. The DS version also uses the JAP version, as does the Saturn version. I think the Wii and 360 versions are NTSC.

My rating for the Gamecube version. Perfect 10/10.

Pros. All of the games kick ass. The extras are WAY BETTER than on the PS2 and Xbox.

Exactly! If they remade Sonic 06 for the Wii it would have all the long load times, slowdown and glitches gone. They could alos rerecord the cutscenes because Jason Griffith and the rest of the 4Kids cast have improved ALOT lately

I wish Nintendo would've done the same with the Mario franchise and made a Mario Mega Collection containing all the original GB, NES, SNES, & N64 Mario titles for the GC, PS2, and XBOX including: SMB 1, 2, & 3, The Lost Levels, Super Mario World 1 & 2, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, Jr, and 64, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and all the GB Mario titles like: Super Mario Land 1 & 2, etc. could you imagine all those on one game disc? 0_0. Nintendo missed out on a Mario Mega Collection -_-.

This is how I experienced the Genesis Sonic's for the first time. But the first Sonic I ever played was Sonic CD on the PC in Windows 95. Still one of my favorites to this very day. Oh great memories.

The Gamecube version is better because there perfect emulations. Playstation and X-Box Sonic games always have lots of glitches, long load times and glitchy frames. This is because Sega is used to porting to Nintendo systems and are not used to Sony and Microsoft systems. Nintendo Sonic games are always better.

@Planetvideogame I might agree on that. I've played both the GC and PS2 version of Sonic heroes. The GC one had better graphics and less glitches than the PS2 version. The GC one got rid of the annoying double change glitch, which occured often when trying to switch to a certain team member. I think they should think about making a Dreamcast collection game for the PS3. I wonder about the Xbox though. The PS3 has room for more games.

And on the note of the emulation issue with Mega Collection, someone should also compare the newer (MC+) PC version with the GC original. I've had no problems with it.

The thing is, the demo of this game, it takes the footage from the demo screens of those games, while in SMC+ they redid it so that it had the developers themselves doing a play of one or two of the zones (depending on game).

Sonic The Hedgehog was always suitable for all Nintendo System example. one time, i played my friend's Sonic Heroes on Ps2 and it sucks, i own the GC version and it is way better then both ps2 and Xbox, the ps2 or Xbox sucks cause the movements were a little slower. oh well. Always Love Sonic for GC.

@Planetvideogame All of the console editions used an outdated Genesis emulator called DGen, which means all of the games suffered quite a bit in emulator accuracy, most notably audio. My ears still hurt from when I listened to the beautiful 'Ice Scream' from Ristar being botched up to the point that it sounded like razor-blades in a meat grinder.

The PC version (assuming you can find it) uses Gens/GS, which is a better maintained emulator. The games are also available on Steam individually.

I call bullshit. I have the XBox version of Collection Plus and have played the PS2 version as well. I haven't noticed a single problem with the Sonic games. In addition to that I also have every game included in it on the other systems (Genesis, GameGear) they were released for. Only issues I know of is Ristar not having any music distortion (at least in the PS2 version... haven't bothered to unlock it on the XB one).
