  • There is lot of noise in his room...

  • I see... I see... I see that you are rich...

  • u look like blake griffin!

  • Will it run Crysis?

  • thats amazing... i wish i had money to do that

  • ive just subscribed can u do a giveaway to subscribers plz im sure all of us subscribers will love that

  • soooo.... why would you give free Wifi to people around you?

  • So I want to hack your setup.... You just gave us a lot of the necessary info...

  • Comment removed

  • Man that's just GREAT! :] My dream one day is to have a central server which will be connected to every TV in every room in my house (mine/parents/sister/living room), and everyone could log into the server and record TV programs to it, view whatever movie/recorded program on it, etc. Is that possible in your opinion? Thanks! :)

  • Nice server BTW...

  • Cool setup, I envy you. Though I'm thinking about seeing if I can collect parts for my second server(My old Athlon XP server died), which I used to backup my data(Music, Pics, Videos, Etc.), essentially a Mid-ATX tower NAS. Then I might build a small computer with a capture card for TV recording. When I move out I might get a better, actual server and mess around with AD.

  • Windows server? Seriously?

  • @sinoperture Look up statistics troll!

  • @mozdonny Umm you mean like 95% of Asia and 100% of large companies and amazon and everything to do with anything from the last 20 years. No need to get defensive because you need pointy-clicky...

  • @sinoperture I was not offensive mate.

Also, I know that a lot of companies use other renown OSs for different tasks, but you were the one who questioned the usage of winser..

Sure he could have managed with a free yet powerfull solution like FreeBSD or something, but full GUI managability is a very important + in MS's NOS products.

  • Great setup!

  • why do you need all that?

  • if that is a server on the ground then thats bad....

  • @conflustered i am, thank you for the complement.

  • @alphaomega0101 im not sure as i dont have them nor did i do any research on them, however on any service as long as you are in control of your router of firewall and you have a public ip it doesn't matter. just be aware that fios has a bandwidth cap, where as Comcast business class doesn't.

  • Your setup makes me want to jizz.

  • If I bought home all my old computers and upgrade them, they would start a war!

  • @Macintosh3745 this makes no sense, are you stating something or asking?

  • wish i had that in my house

  • @SuperBison2 study and learn, and somday you shall

  • Sweet setup bro!! what is the brand name of ur security camera?

  • @negrodamos it was a Panasonic camera i dont have it any more it was hit by a storm, i now have a 8 channel dvr with network control. so similar setup just more cameras

  • You sir, ARE A GOD.

  • @wjz10595 not quite but thankyou

  • Hate to see your electric bill.

  • @maquereautin with the whole house and the ac its only 2-3 hundred. thants the entire house

  • super awesome man :D

  • @MrDilluck thankyou

  • Cool Man Nice setup

  • @QTR1008 thnakyou

  • @rivkinnator um.... ill take that as a complement, so,,, thankyou.

  • it is GREAT!

  • Great . But I do the same with my P3 500 MHz 320Mb ram with FreeBSD server. Fast as well.

  • @mptrax this is a very great point, not much is needed to run a firewall. i now have an old p4 running PfSense firewall proxy free bsd software, i havent had any problems adn its had uptime for over 100 days no reboots necessary.

  • @rivkinnator Pentium 4 has insane idle power and chugs even more power when active. You sure you want to use that hothead?

I have a cheap-ass Celeron G460(€30) and €50 mini-itx board in a very small case. Low power, high speed, cool-running.

  • @rivkinnator P4? You need to heat the room it's in?

Why do people always run old and inefficient, warm and noisy systems as firewalls and servers?

    -

I bought a very small PowerPC system for €120, passive cooling, small, 12 watt tdp, industrial design so will last a hell of a long time.

  • @rivkinnator so ur the one im getting free internet! danng its fast!

  • @mptrax I have a dual core atom330 with 2gigs doing web, file, ftp, ssh, email, firewall/nat box. Longest uptime was 400+ days till gfci went out on the outlet, this server lives in the garage and survives freezing temps up to a hot 90+ degree F temperatures. Run fast, serves up files at 70% of 1gb ethernet speeds. Since it is an Atom transcoding of video is a bit beyond its processing power.

    Cheers!

  • @thudtheace I NEVER had all this power you have. You just need run some CLOUD service. Man surely it's good... But I do the same with a computer since 1994 :DDD

    Cheers!

  • @mptrax Heh.. Aye I still have a cyrix 486 I built back in 94 that did all the stuff my cheapy atom does today, but it used 10b2 coax for networking and much smaller drives (340mb drive damn i'm cool!), and that was upgrading from a amd 386dx25 running SLS linux (back in the pre 1 linux days). So yea my atom system I use now does seem like a uber machine compared to that. It all fun...

    Cheers!!

  • @thudtheace Yeah. I also tried to set up a NAS with NetBSD 5.1 on a P1 166 Mhz 32 Mb ram.... unsuccessfully . Too slow ! Now It runs nginx 1.0 small web server. Look man: BSD fit good for your target... and it's Up-to-date. Consider to use it... that will be really COOL ! Bye.

  • @mptrax Ran a freeBSD setup for years on a via cyrixIII 600. Worked fantastic, have been running slackware linux now. I will probably go back to a freeBSD box again, I tend to waffle when I get bored with a particular flavor of OS. Happy new year!

    Cheers!

  • Interesting video and I am somewhat confused... Is your switch connected to your ISP modem? Is it DSL or Cable? What kind of switch do you have and how much did you pay for it? Also, how did you run the wireless audio with the Apple device?

  • @IamDeanCantave no, my switch is connected to my router which is then connected to my modem, you will never connect you modem directly to an internal switch unless you have some super crazy enterprise leven network with VLAN's but thats another discussion for another time, the rest of my devices connect to the switch as a central point of communication. and i do have cable, not dsl. aple airport express has a built in audio output that can be used with itunes and i devices to stream audio.

  • @IamDeanCantave the switch is a cisco 24 port 10/100 200mbps switch i got it from best buy for $100 with the help of an employee friend but there about $200 and damn well worth it, ive had that thing for three years now cranking data through it and its never complained

  • that is the coolest thing ever!!!

  • When I get fios my server will be online 8-)

  • @xboxluva22 very cool m8

  • Damn Your Internet Speed Must Be Amazing

  • @MrWWEHighDefinition just because his internet is hosting a web pages doesnt mean his internet will be really fast. hes just with a regular isp.

  • @wkdw1ll1ams this is true, it doesn't take much bandwidth to host a web page, maybe just a few Kilobytes which any standard internet has.

  • @MrWWEHighDefinition nope just normal home internet

  • Nice, inspired me to set up my single server firewall system. A suggestion, have you tried Untangle (Linux) rather than PFsense?

  • @NightWolfEditing yup, also tried smooth wall too.

  • @johnnyarks i have sence changed everything, i have one AP and a seprate unix router

  • how many wifi routers do you need for 1 apartment? lol

also, with all that gear, ur electricity bill must be crazy high.

  • @bauhausproductionz its changed sence then i now have one AP and a seperate Unix router

  • @bauhausproductionz it has changed sense this vido but the linksys boxes, only one was wifi the other was a router, the apple airport express was just a music extender for itunes.

  • Dude, you are freaking awesome.Your my hero for media center setups.

  • @therinfox thankyou, its changed a little gona make another video soon

  • I hope you sleep well listening to white noise, because that is a lot of fan noise!

  • @alwaysmc2 :D like a babay, ambient noise

  • You need a rack enclosure with some insulation for sound. That ringing in your ear can become permanent.

  • @hulkhatepunybanner i no longer sleep with it, and it isnt as loud as you hear it through the video. its now in an a/c cooled seprate room in a big rack

  • Jesus nice setup man

You must have a job related to computers or networking

  • @TylertheGeek28 i own a company called Healthy Computers, and work for a school district, my degree is in computer systems network engineering and administration.

  • server on the carpet? hmm..

  • @niceguyjonnyc it was just there temprarly, it moved to the desk later, then into a small rack. now its in a 42u rack

  • u have the same stereo that i do i got mine from Wal-mart. hbu lol

  • yeah your rich, how much is the energy wast on all of that!!!???!?!

  • @betomty84 not that bad. all my eqip is energy star rated and the power bill for the house is only around $240

  • awesome setup you got there mate, i like it a lot. IF i was to go for something that'd link all my entertainment together, should i start small or wait until i can fund a larger setup?

  • @LevoOfficial i started small and built on it :) gofor it man

  • Genius !

  • @rattyts thankyou

  • You guys here those fans screaming?? may be time for some liquid cooling

  • @superdutyf3 ive thought about submergesion with the dual quad-core but just so much work to convert it and to maintain it. god forbit that i would have to move it

  • Your day must get considerably more boring when there's a power cut.

  • @FALLASLEEPworld nope, i have several backup batteries now, and they last me 3 hrs with everything.

  • @rivkinnator Bravo sir, bravo. Nice work, (Y).

  • @FALLASLEEPworld thankyou

  • You should get a decent screen man, or do you have a separate setup with gaming kit?

  • @JackomanTheThird i dont do gaming most of my stuff is server equipment which you never use as a workstation

  • how much time did it take you to setup all this stuff? im sure your makeing lots of money..with your websites

  • @AlbertInSanAntonio this setup has been being built upon non stop always changing, tweaking and maintaining, it has sense developed into what is now the new home server project, but to where this was now, about a week on n off

  • What are your websites called?

  • @AustinRocks1995 thegeek-mobi, healthycomputers-biz, djriffic-com theres more

  • JUST LOVE IT ! I WISH I HAD THAT KIND OF SETUP

IF I NEED HELP, I WILL CALL YOU LOL

    THANKS

  • @s2011h its polite to ask one if you may contact him or her, but shure you may ask when you need

  • The best home set up video out there !!!!

  • @Pyware50 thankyou, much appreciated, i did make another one sense this one, i cant post links on the comments, view more videos from me.

  • @rivkinnator Yeah i seen all your home server videos.

  • Your site is down. Have you thought of using a data center?

  • @nxadmon lol yes im aware and working on it, theres a dns issue currently with my record @ godaddy, and im setting up round Robbin too with a hosing service at the same time, makes for a cluster %^&*. i do appreciate the heads up tho, im working on it try back soon.

  • @rivkinnator I use my own dns, I believe one should retain as much control as possible over ones assets. Anyways, when I was a young lad I started my first websites on a homebrew server, so I always have respect for those willing to challenge themselves. Someday I will have my own data center which is essentially a professional homebrew setup. best regards

  • @nxadmon i completely agree with you, as you can see i do host my stuff, i just dont have public dns, i use go-daddy for that, and some of hte stuff on other sites i have has specific requirements, a lot of hosting services, dont keep there systems completely up to date so its hard as my programs update quickly. but i also wnat to have a data center when i grow up too, im only 21 adn im always willing to try new stuff, if i knew how to have a public name server i would,

  • @nxadmon about the time when you set this comment is when i was setting up a round robbin, so that if my stuff goes down it auto routes to a hosting company :)

  • Ok, so network setup is Modem > Router > Switch with all the wired devices (save for the 2nd router) going into the switch? Just asking, since I need to get a switch and know little about networking...

Also, which insert module where you in reference to when you mentioned the Xbox? I cant seem to be able to stream using my W2k8 R2 Box...

  • @nullx86 im gona try to remember this setup for you as its been gone for over two years, the top router, which was a wrt54g i loaded dd-wrt (an opensource route firmware) and it was using nat to keep a seperate network from mine, its wan was connected to the swith as to have a network inside of a netwokr, the bottom router was the pirmary router for the primary network, its wan was connected to the moden and its lan port was connected to the switch giving the network access

  • @nullx86 as far as streaming to an xbox windows home server which is the server on the table is what i used for that, the music that you heard when i wen tupstairs, was an airport express behing the entertainment center playing to speakers behind my tv, i used itunes to airplay to the airport express

  • @rivkinnator I know that. Towards the end of your video, you mentioned a insert module that you used to enable the streaming capabilities for the Xbox as a media extender...

As far as the whole switch thing, just wondering cause my router is crapping out, so I was looking at a switch to give me some more ports... basically Modem > Gateway (either my old computer with some linux or a cheap router ie wrt45g) > Switch > AP. Think that will work? I have 6 wired devices and a slew of wireless ones..

  • Can you make a new updated version of your Home Server Setup with your new firewall and how you got it all working? Please

  • @fordfan2007 is there something specific that your looking for, or want me to focus on

  • WOW Nice dude! Love it!

  • Your very eugly :-@ No life

  • Fantastic!!

  • kool setup bro!!!!

  • dame your electricity bill must be off the roof!

  • That's noisy! You sleep near the server?

  • Why would u need a security camera for ur "server" room. u must me hidding illeagal files or something.

  • @tanman1346 this guy might have spent over $5000 in his servers. I would put a camera in front of my door.

  • one word.... WOW...

  • How long did it take you to build your system ?

  • Im just happy i dont have to pay the electrical bill :P

  • Can you tell how much everything cost?

  • lols, nice stuff :D

  • very good setup

  • Hey man was that a Pioneer plasma tv?! Nice!! Great set- up! Not bad for a pc user ajajajja

  • very nice setup!

Although, i would have swapped out all the fans with silent noctua's

    (light sleeper)

  • wtf do u protect? porn? why da fuck would you put a camera in ur house to point at the fucking door? who would steal all this shit... seriously

  • Whats the point of a home server? Can some one help?

  • Nice setup dude!!

  • Whos your bandwidth provider?

  • @emtildeath haha i'd like to see you try, its now running with a RADIUS server with kerberos authentaction, any radius hacks have to do with man in the middle attcks and time radomization witch it taken care of with kerberos. your more than welcome to try, it would only help me.

  • @xXHACKERx360Xx yea its changed alot ill get a vid in soon when i get a chance

  • Dude, your geekyer then geek lol i mean the good way! doesnt the server make ur energy bill huge? mine barly affects my parents bill but mines old and small 1999 old :D 2k FTW

  • @cotton509 thx man appreaceate that. as far as the bill goes i haev no idea, never looked, just set up auto pay with FPL and it takes care of its self.

  • I like what you did i just wonder what can some one like my self who douse not have a whole lot of money to play with but i have a lot of old computers sitting in my basement collecting dust lol i would love to do 2 main things serve out to the web a server and sell space on it and also have like a music collection the one i think i can manage the music part of it but do you know what i would need to safely and legally sell sever space and about how much or how big of a hard drive to do.

  • @MrTechguy31 thx man, sorry ment to thumbs up. yes you can, UBUNTU is a free software and is a gr8 introduction to linux if you start with the desktop edition, adn start to read the fourms and explore around, you can run website, ftp, dhcp, dns, and much much more from linux adn from the ubuntu desktop edition too, once you start to get more fimilar with the command line then start to explore the server edition, feel free to pm me if you want. :)

  • @MrTechguy31 Your Setup Is Def Official. Question?.How Does One Setup More Bandwith & A Primary Hosting System?? I Have A Site Up & Running @ Home.. Windows Server.. But Am Having Bandwith Issues. Upload Speeds 2 Slow... Everything Else No Probs..

  • @MrTechguy31 was this a joke? I hope so!

  • OMG so fucking nerd !!!

    xxxv1r0j4nxxx should hack you

  • @expertprogrammer y u gotta hate huh? people like me are the reason you even have the internet, so be thankful.

  • Thanks guys @Armornone yes i am, and no its not about time I set this all up in less than three days counting the software setup too. You just have to know what your doing. @chempranav tell me what you want to know and I'll wright something on it for ya.

  • do you have detailed article written about the same video? or updates & DIY? thanks.

  • @chempranav sorry it took me so long, my next video(s) are going to do the same thing here but after the display im goin to break it all down and show you how it all works, piece by piece. not physically but with the software and server OS's

  • @rivkinnator no worries man! take your time... just uploaded my video (about home office & media server) check it out.

    thnx.

  • NERD!!!!!

  • @tecktalktv4free Nerds make the world work. It's good being a nerd.

  • @TalesOfWar agreed

  • Careful. I think this guy may be Jewish.

  • @Armornone comon dude its not cool to bring religion into anything like that be careful someone like myself might get offended

  • @rivkinnator Im not Jewish but I think Jewish people are pretty awesome

  • @Armornone Idiot

  • @UltimateArco Well do you have proof that he is not Jewish?

  • @Armornone Why so racist?

  • @UltimateArco Racist? How exactly? by saying that someone is of a particular race which is true? If I say that Michael Jordan is black is that racist too?

  • @Armornone I think also because you said Careful as to say because he's Jewish hes dangerous.

  • @FrozenIceCweam I just said that to make sure you were careful not to say Merry Christmas to a Jew and possible get sued. I was just trying to help a brother out.

  • @Armornone Do you relize how racist that sounds? "Don't say Merry Christmas or he'll sue, you because he's jewish".

  • @FrozenIceCweam Its not racist, its a fact, Jews get offended by Christmas and they love to sue people. In fact, there are many cases of Jews suing airports because of their Christmas tree.

don't tell me that you aren't extra careful when you are around a jew in fear of being sued?

If you know a jew that you have more money then he does. Watch out, lawsuit coming your way !

  • @Armornone Firstly, nothing you said is a fact and just amplifies what I said about you being racist. Not all jew love to sue people. Not all are rich and not all jews are offended by Christmas. I'm not sure if you're stupid or trying to make me rage.

  • @FrozenIceCweam You misunderstand what I said that Jews will sue you if you are rich. If you have something that they want, they will find a way to steal it from you or sue you to get it. Who do you think invented communism! Karl Marx a jewish turned atheistic. Its all fact dude. Jews conspired with communist in Germany during WW1. You need to learn history. There are tons of examples of Jew suing because they are offended by Christmas.

  • @Armornone There are tons of examples of other religions (races) doing horrible things as well. I woulnt call you a murderer or theif if I don't know you, and especially not if I only now your race.

  • @FrozenIceCweam Its called knowing your enemy. Muslims are terrorist and Jew run around suing everyone. The numbers don't lie.

  • @Armornone That is extremely racist.

  • @FrozenIceCweam Its dealing with reality.

  • @Armornone Call it what you will, its still racism.

  • @FrozenIceCweam What happen to its a religion not a race?
