I must have been living under a rock. I never heard of this band until I saw the 2011 Target commercial on TV. I think Matchstick Men eptimizes the sound and the ambience of that time. I must say, I am past 50 myself, and I never heard them get airplay in NC. I do like the Target commercial song though. Rock on, and peace.

@chest002:  I loved SQ since the late '60s ("Matchstick days."). I saw them in concert in Zurich, Switzerland, last month and in Germany in 2010. What incredible experiences! I ran into Rick Parfitt outside the arena, in the afternoon prior to the show, just before the pre-concert sound check...we exchanged a few words...a real gentleman. Bad economy, good economy...I'm getting ready for another SQ concert in Europe sometime next year...

Status Quo, "Big fat mama" - wow, I LOVE the "Piledriver" album! Supposedly the last "Quid pro Quo" album again be very good, but I can not imagine that it is ran on "Piledriver". It is just like AC/DC 's "Back in Black" - about one-album, which is the successor to measure. Keep on rockin' from Germany.

There are no live version up on Youtube where they play the original intro from the Pildedriver album. I thought it was ultra cool but maybe they didn't haha? Saw them back in 1976 and I was 14 so I can't remember if they played it then. Freaking awesome live experience never the less.

I remember pictures of matchstick men by these guys when it was fresh back in 1966.....

saw them here in Edmonton, Canada concert in 1974......then again in Brisbane Australia in 1976.....they did big fat mamma both concerts.....has remained maybe my favourite rock song of all time......and these guys are still at it ! amazing!!!!!!!

I love these guys!For almost 40yrs already!Back in the early days they would have Marshalls,Hi-Watts,WEM,and Sound City amps and cabs on stage,now it's just the Wall of Death as they call it.White Marshalls across the whole stage.Heaven!

The first time I saw SQ was just after Caroline came out, in the Colston Hall in Bristol. Due to a cock up over tickets, they let us have the Royal Box! I'll never forget it. Original line up and a small theatre. It was incredible.

Just a little known fact for you, Status Quo played the most live gigs in 2008, that is out of everybody!!! They have been going over 40 years and todays bands, in my humble opinion, are the boring ones live. I saw them at Thetford Forest in 2008 and for guys their age and having drunk and snorted what they have done over the years, they were brilliant. You gets what you expect from them... Rock and they're good at it.
