Try editing individual shots in after effects, and composite the whole film in Premiere. Otherwise editing 2+ minutes in AE means a looooooooooooong render, or "lag" during edit.
The Batman song you used in the beginning of the film, was it called? By the way, fantastic action film y'all made. My only complaint; the scene where they were issued different pistols.
Not bad! I liked it. The guy in the bathroom was fucking hilarious! Like you were maybe almost feeling guilty you shot him before he was done taking a piss! lol

Have you tried using Multiprocessing? It is in the settings and it will increase the performance significantly.
