Can anyone help me how to take pictures with for sports with the p500 im in year book but my pictures always seem to come out blurry and it makes me look so bad D;
i'm planning to buy this nikon coolpix p100 and the prize is AU$558. Do you think it's a reasonable price? i even planned on getting the nikon coolpix s1100pj with the projector but i felt p100 is better being a DSLR. need some advice plz.

@anujgupta0129 P100 is lighter, much easier 2 carry. screen is larger & double in pixel count. it can record videos in 1080p, for stills it has a cmos sensor den ccd which is considered bettr . Also d high speed movie and shooting capabilities make it quite powerful. 10 vs 1.1 fps (p100 vs sx30) is quite a big figure.
Canon sx30 is a giant zoomer, ex. flash support, 10% better wide angle.
Damn it man... now i am more confused....???? so which is the best bang for the buck??? the Canon SX 30 IS, The Lumix FZ 40 or this Nikon P100... ugh... I am inclined to get the Canon though.... @anujgupta0129 .. hi anuj, well at d auto mode d camera is jst like another point n shoot.. I had set the ISO to 400. in daylight, i usually set d aperture to f/5-f/7 n den set d shutter accordingly. in low light n d dark: f/2.8 n shutter accordingly. The camera give me bettr results at infinity focus while shootin landscapes.
And anuj m not a PRO so u can hav bettr results if u'l do a little bit of research :-). Try to google about shutter,aperture,focus & ISO settings n apply them. Its FUN!!

Dose who complain about pic quality n al, may b dey are'nt usin manual and other priority modes. At dis price tag, i dnt think i can hve nythin bettr den dis. Superb low light shootin like DSLR, articulatin LCD n gr8 resolution, detailed view finder, HDR, Macro, 26x huge zoom, 30fps full HD video etc. This cam even fails my sony handycam vid a big diff.

The Nikon P100 have some nice features like the removable LCD, High Speed Motion Video recording, a 'new' CMOS sensor, but like i say in the last comment, im very dissapointed with Nikon because i think the're one of the best camera makers like Canon, but i get this nice LEMON and my photos looks weird. My old Kodak camera do better photos than this Nikon at the same settings :S. For the reviewer maybe you get a GOOD WORKING Sample, but my camera is a Lemon. Cheers.
Im very dissapointed with this camera i bought it 2 months ago and the camera have a lots of cons, cant handle focus on video with zoom, some photos have blur on the corners even if the focus is continuous, the internal lens sound weird when you move the camera, cant use full zoom for macro photos, the camera do some Objective errors when im zooming, i just upgrade to 1.1 Firmware and the camera is still a lemon. I just bought a Lumix FZ40 because the image quality is better than the Nikon P100

The video is not killin the Fugi HS10 and its now as crisp....so i so so bebausi i have both and compared......video with Fugi HS10 is smoother and the focus was quick even in dark situations
My experience is clowns like badder-head tend to blame the camera when it fact the errors comes from the nut trying to use the camera and not having a clue how. Like most digital cameras to get the most out of it read the freaking manual. All of it. Before you click the shutter the first time. I did. The Nikon P100 has a 200 page manual which gives you an idea of all the features. Pick the wrong mode, or fool around in manual mode if you don't know better, any camera shoots lousy pictures.

The P100 doesn't even count anymore. Go into your local big box store and try to find one. If you're lucky, you'll find a display model kicked in a corner somewhere collecting dust.
Manufacturers can say all sorts of shit. This camera can do this, or this camera can do that. I tried them both. I'm not an amateur photog dumbass. The Nikon doesn't compare to the SX20is.
@zodiacair The Nikon P100 is a whole lot better than the Canon SX20 IS. For starters you only got 720p. The P100 has Full HD, with a CMOS Sensor. The P100 has longer zoom than the P100. What are you talking about the P100 not being in stores anymore. Bullshit, the P100 is in a lot of stores, if anything isn't in stores it's the Canon SX20 IS because that's old, the Canon SX30 IS is where it's at. But still the SX30 may have better zoom, but still doesn't have 1080p like the Nikon P100.
when I checked the overall owner reviews on people that owned the coolpix P100 cameras they gave it a 3 - 3.5 out of 5, owners of the Cannon SX20 IS gave their cameras a 4 out of 5.... Ive decided to wait for the SX30 to hit the shelves in the next week or so .... id recommend people check it out or look for a sale price on SX20's

Hello, i bought this camera, well my mom did, and she used the HD version and captured one of my motocross races. When played back in the camera it was PERFECT 1080p, BUT when i downloaded to my computer and played in BOTH windows media and QUick time MOvie player It seemed to "skip a scene" like i got teleprted in about 5 foot incrimantes around the track. I want 1080p quality, Help please!
Hey Bro , I just picked mine up on Saturday (3 days ago) I took a video of some fireworks, is there a way to edit what you recorded? Like is it possible for me to make the video shorter while its still in the camera or how would I go about doing that? Tried posting it on Facebook but its over the 1024mb and the video is 1.2gb's so really should the vid still fit? but anyways thats what facebook says so looking for a way to shorten my video a tad.
@cassman1979 Hey man, try using any sort of video editing software to compress it a litte. You don't really have to shorten it, if you just compress it, it will be smaller and the you wont really notice the differance in quality. You might even be able to do it with windows movie maker if your a PC, or Final Cut Pro for mac.
@zodiacair Everywhere ive looked the Cannon SX20 IS was rated better. Reviewers rated them close but the actual camera owners rated the Nikon 3 stars in places where the Cannon was rated at 4s and 5s by its owners.
I was watching this test as a lat look before I bought. I'll be getting the Canon over the Nikon.
Stick to the SX10is or SX20is, the zoom in the SX30is is incredible but the picture color reproduction and detail quality in the SX30is is not as good as the SX10is or SX20is.

I had this camera for a week. Took some decent pics. The HD vid past 26X is terribel (shakey), and I couldn't get the burst mode past 2 shots. The camera lens extends out by 3 tubes getting progressively smaller (looks completely silly), and the LCD screen doesn't fully articulate nor flip inwards to protect the screen. And it's made in Malaysia.
I settled on the Canon SX20 and LOVE IT! It's also made in Japan!
@zodiacair 1. ever heard of somthing called a tripod? 2. So what it's for taking pictures and video, it's not supposed to be a model to look at 3. It's not a camcorder you don't really need to see yourself while you record. The canon SX20 is from 2009, The sound quality is inferior and it doesn't do Full HD recording. Nor does if have many of the features like Highspeed video ect.
@IIproductionsII I STRONGLY beg to differ with you on the HD video recording AND the stereo sound. BOTH are better in the Canon.
Why are you arguing with me on this one. I TRIED BOTH! And the high speed video is good in bright light situations ONLY. In room light it's completely dark and worthless.
And even if the Canon is from 2009, it's outsold the Nikon 3 to 1, and still does.

@zodiacair Hello TROLL. Well buddy boy I've had my P100 for a couple weeks and nearly everything you said about it is BS. Are you a Canon plant? The fact it takes GREAT video indoors under lower light conditons... assuming you know what you're doing, obviously you don't.
@willieofroanoke I had a P100 for 3 days and it gave me all sorts of error messages. If you haven't had one yet your either a liar or naive to the experience. I personally believe it's the former.
By the way, the P100 was horrible indoors with poor lighting conditions.
@baddermopho I suspect your problem is you're an idiot. I've taken thousands of photos so far with my P100, never a single error message except for the silly remove the lens cap one when I forgot. Indoors, it works great. Assuming you know what you're doing. Obviously you don't. My suggestion for you since you don't know how to use a camera is restrict your choice to the throw away camera you can pick up at drugstore for under $20. You'll be happier and hopefully not make a fool of yourself.

@infosyncvideos sounds more like you're on crack. Your Canon can only shoot 1 frame a second, in continous mode compared to the Nikon 10 frames per second. Your monitor has a punny 230000 pixels display, the Nikon 640000. You have basic two modes Shutter-priority, Aperture-priority. The Nikon has several more. Your video is an inferior 1280x720 compared to the Nikon full HD at 1920x1080. It ca't record audio comments. And of course Nikon lens are superior. Now run long sonny.
@willieofroanoke Lens LOCK is a given in the P100. Not only if you have the lens cap on, but also while you are shooting video or taking pictures. It is well documented in reviews online, and I also experienced the same problem with the new P100 I had for a short time. Nothing made me more angry when the "Lens error" popped up a couple of times. Nonetheless, after 2 weeks the P100 went back for a complete refund.
By the way, enjoy your new Nikon and don't get angry when you get a "lens error" and the lens locks out on you and you have to power your new Nikon camera off and on, WHILE YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A VIDEO RECORDING!
@zodiacair HA! that's the reason I'm buying a Nikon for once, my past 2 cameras were canons and in the end I got fed up with it. Both of them had lense errors and they never worked again, canon said it didn't come under the warranty and I'd have to pay $50 just for them to take a look at it, before they even repaired it. I am looking for better picture quality with a very good zoom and the other feature im looking for is good high video quality. So would this be the camera im looking for? The video would be more for concerts and watersports (tubing and watersking) Im new to these cameras so im unsure. Please help. @cassman1979 Hey I ordered a Nikon P100 not long last week and I can't wait for it to arrive!. I would Highly recomend the Nikon P100. It's classified as being in between a point and shoot and a DSLR. For it's price it's extremly good. Also if your into taking pictures of water sports ect it has many features that would benifit. Like a C-high and C-low. What this does is takes a bunch of pictures very fast so you can get the picture taken at just the right momment. Go look the p100 =P

I've had my P100 for about 5 weeks, took thousands of photos, dozens of vids and it performs flawlessly, no problem, not even once.

I've had my P100 for over a month now and it performs flawlessly.Not a single error messge, no electronic or mechnical problems of any kind. You're acting like a six year old. The video is not killin the Fugi HS10 and its now as crisp....so i so so bebausi i have both and compared......video with Fugi HS10 is smoother and the focus was quick even in dark situations

My experience is clowns like badder-head tend to blame the camera when it fact the errors comes from the nut trying to use the camera and not having a clue how. Like most digital cameras to get the most out of it read the freaking manual. All of it. Before you click the shutter the first time. I did. The Nikon P100 has a 200 page manual which gives you an idea of all the features. Pick the wrong mode, or fool around in manual mode if you don't know better, any camera shoots lousy pictures.

The P100 doesn't even count anymore. Go into your local big box store and try to find one. If you're lucky, you'll find a display model kicked in a corner somewhere collecting dust.
Manufacturers can say all sorts of shit. This camera can do this, or this camera can do that. I tried them both. I'm not an amateur photog dumbass. The Nikon doesn't compare to the SX20is.

@zodiacair The Nikon P100 is a whole lot better than the Canon SX20 IS. For starters you only got 720p. The P100 has Full HD, with a CMOS Sensor. The P100 has longer zoom than the P100. What are you talking about the P100 not being in stores anymore. Bullshit, the P100 is in a lot of stores, if anything isn't in stores it's the Canon SX20 IS because that's old, the Canon SX30 IS is where it's at. But still the SX30 may have better zoom, but still doesn't have 1080p like the Nikon P100.

when I checked the overall owner reviews on people that owned the coolpix P100 cameras they gave it a 3 - 3.5 out of 5, owners of the Cannon SX20 IS gave their cameras a 4 out of 5.... Ive decided to wait for the SX30 to hit the shelves in the next week or so .... id recommend people check it out or look for a sale price on SX20's

Hello, i bought this camera, well my mom did, and she used the HD version and captured one of my motocross races. When played back in the camera it was PERFECT 1080p, BUT when i downloaded to my computer and played in BOTH windows media and QUick time MOvie player It seemed to "skip a scene" like i got teleprted in about 5 foot incrimantes around the track. I want 1080p quality, Help please!

Hey Bro , I just picked mine up on Saturday (3 days ago) I took a video of some fireworks, is there a way to edit what you recorded? Like is it possible for me to make the video shorter while its still in the camera or how would I go about doing that? Tried posting it on Facebook but its over the 1024mb and the video is 1.2gb's so really should the vid still fit? but anyways thats what facebook says so looking for a way to shorten my video a tad.

@cassman1979 Hey man, try using any sort of video editing software to compress it a litte. You don't really have to shorten it, if you just compress it, it will be smaller and the you wont really notice the differance in quality. You might even be able to do it with windows movie maker if your a PC, or Final Cut Pro for mac.

@zodiacair Everywhere ive looked the Cannon SX20 IS was rated better. Reviewers rated them close but the actual camera owners rated the Nikon 3 stars in places where the Cannon was rated at 4s and 5s by its owners.
I was watching this test as a lat look before I bought. I'll be getting the Canon over the Nikon.

Stick to the SX10is or SX20is, the zoom in the SX30is is incredible but the picture color reproduction and detail quality in the SX30is is not as good as the SX10is or SX20is.

I had this camera for a week. Took some decent pics. The HD vid past 26X is terribel (shakey), and I couldn't get the burst mode past 2 shots. The camera lens extends out by 3 tubes getting progressively smaller (looks completely silly), and the LCD screen doesn't fully articulate nor flip inwards to protect the screen. And it's made in Malaysia.
I settled on the Canon SX20 and LOVE IT! It's also made in Japan!

@zodiacair 1. ever heard of somthing called a tripod? 2. So what it's for taking pictures and video, it's not supposed to be a model to look at 3. It's not a camcorder you don't really need to see yourself while you record. The canon SX20 is from 2009, The sound quality is inferior and it doesn't do Full HD recording. Nor does if have many of the features like Highspeed video ect.

Why are you arguing with me on this one. I TRIED BOTH! And the high speed video is good in bright light situations ONLY. In room light it's completely dark and worthless.
And even if the Canon is from 2009, it's outsold the Nikon 3 to 1, and still does.
I'm done with this issue and not wasting anymore time on you or this camera.
Go buy an SX20.

@willieofroanoke I had a P100 for 3 days and it gave me all sorts of error messages. If you haven't had one yet your either a liar or naive to the experience. I personally believe it's the former.
By the way, the P100 was horrible indoors with poor lighting conditions.

@baddermopho I suspect your problem is you're an idiot. I've taken thousands of photos so far with my P100, never a single error message except for the silly remove the lens cap one when I forgot. Indoors, it works great. Assuming you know what you're doing. Obviously you don't. My suggestion for you since you don't know how to use a camera is restrict your choice to the throw away camera you can pick up at drugstore for under $20. You'll be happier and hopefully not make a fool of yourself.

@infosyncvideos sounds more like you're on crack. Your Canon can only shoot 1 frame a second, in continous mode compared to the Nikon 10 frames per second. Your monitor has a punny 230000 pixels display, the Nikon 640000. You have basic two modes Shutter-priority, Aperture-priority. The Nikon has several more. Your video is an inferior 1280x720 compared to the Nikon full HD at 1920x1080. It ca't record audio comments. And of course Nikon lens are superior. Now run long sonny.

@willieofroanoke Lens LOCK is a given in the P100. Not only if you have the lens cap on, but also while you are shooting video or taking pictures. It is well documented in reviews online, and I also experienced the same problem with the new P100 I had for a short time. Nothing made me more angry when the "Lens error" popped up a couple of times. Nonetheless, after 2 weeks the P100 went back for a complete refund.

@zodiacair HA! that's the reason I'm buying a Nikon for once, my past 2 cameras were canons and in the end I got fed up with it. Both of them had lense errors and they never worked again, canon said it didn't come under the warranty and I'd have to pay $50 just for them to take a look at it, before they even repaired it. Anyway why are you even watching this video if they suck so much? ha Just to post comments on how much they suck? Is canon getting you to do this? and the HD video is not better

I'm getting sick of the point and shoot cameras and want something better. I am looking for better picture quality with a very good zoom and the other feature im looking for is good high video quality. So would this be the camera im looking for? The video would be more for concerts and watersports (tubing and watersking) Im new to these cameras so im unsure. Please help. But on the other hand from what your saying and demonstating this looks like it just might be my next camera.

@cassman1979 Hey I ordered a Nikon P100 not long last week and I can't wait for it to arrive!. I would Highly recomend the Nikon P100. It's classified as being in between a point and shoot and a DSLR. For it's price it's extremly good. Also if your into taking pictures of water sports ect it has many features that would benifit. Like a C-high and C-low. What this does is takes a bunch of pictures very fast so you can get the picture taken at just the right momment. Go look the p100 =P

Nice review!!! I recently lost my Panasonic FZ 35...it was stolen from inside of my car!!! ( maybe I should lock the doors? LMAO...In any event, how would you compare this camera to the panasonic FZ35? I loved that camera and I am now in the midst of shopping for another Panasonic FZ35 or even this Nikon.
I would just like to hear what comparisons are between these 2 cameras. I mainly use my camera inside museums and outside of old historical buildings for the architecture.
