Kurt Angle innovated the Angle/Olympic Slam so his actually isn't a copy of anything :/ Angle's isn't as high angle (no pun intended) but you have to look at the company he currently works for. American mainstream wrestling typically likes their workers to not be as stiff to avoid injuries.
Also, American Mainstream Wrestling typically only has a few stars and a few wrestlers under contract, so it makes sense not to be stiff because these guys have to wrestle again in a few days, but from what I hear, Japanese wrestling has a much more scattered schedule for each wrestler.
Would have been better if he superkicked him while Sugiura had him in the air, but awesome combination nonetheless.

@JSMI1994 Wouldn't be equally stiff, unless he slammed him towards the japanese guy.

While that may be an Impressive Olympic Slam, I still say the best Olympic Slam ever was when the Undertaker did it to Kurt Angle at Vengeance 2002.

Angle Slam is a bad copy of sugiura's olimpic slam
youscrewedbret 3 years ago
Angle was doing the Olympic Slam before Sugiura even debuted. Though Sugiura does it much better.

Not better, different. Angle lands it on the back. Sugs lands it on the neck.
It's brutally dangerous, and that makes it awesome, nonetheless.

Except that one time Angle dumped Steiner, Sugiura style.

@EvilPrimate
Sugiura changed the move completely though. Is it still techniccaly an Oympic slam?

Very true, companies like TNA and WWE have shows every other day year round while most Japanese companies do their shows in tours.

I actually heard that Edge once wrestled 10 in one week. (I'm not sure when though)

Jesus no wonder he's injured right now.

Not quite, you can distinctly see a big leg-slap. I'm not saying it might not be stiff, but you're hearing him slapping his leg.
