One of my favourite movies is Last of the Mohicans and until I can find the perfect red headed Jamie, Daniel Day Lewis will do. Brown hair, American accent and all :)

I like your idea of young Fergus, the first picture of Claire and Geilis, but your image of Jamie looks too smart in my eyes. Of all the casting ideas I'd say this one is by far the better one. My fear is that too many "good looking" actors/actresses will be cast. Sure they all had a beauty to them but they were not models. I believe it's it's more important to be able to relate to them then have eye candy.
Dianas characters are so very complex and it would be a shame to not lift that up in the hopefully upcoming movie/mini seires. Personally I think a mini series is better.
It needs to be a series, with one season dedicated to each book. I like the looks of most of these actors! I had Kevin McKidd in mind for Jamie... not that tall, but fully capable of the violence and the emotion required. (Have you seen him in "Rome"?)

I agree so much with Angiecoop7. I don't know how long it took, but your work is amazing! I'm a huge fan of the Outlander books. Each year when I reread the first book. The actors you picked out is how I see them. As for a movie. I would live for HBO to make it. I think just one movie would not be long enough!

Wow I actually liked most of your choices but I think Lord John Grey needs to be thinner/ smaller and Roger should be bigger as well as Jamie. Both Jamie and Claire looked too "pretty" and Jenny looked too sculpted.

This video gave me the chills, great fantasy well done! I think aubrey is a great young Jamie but gerad butler the ultimate older Jamie. I loved Brianna .These actors look great But ultimately the casting has to have chemistry, that will make or break a movie. In the mean time we can drool over all the hopefulls.

Simon Baker is not effeminate enough for Lord John, and I don't picture Jenny that way. But the rest are spot on! Especially Brianna! And Sean Bean would be perfect as Dougal. Gerard Butler, I agree would be brilliant, but I have not yet seen any man who looks like my Jamie <3 Good work, this is awesome stuff!
Right on! Thanks for posting this! The only thing I would change is that Jack Randall should look more sinister, maybe a smile for him would be better. Also, young Ian's person looks too serious- I think he should have more of a good-natured easy-going face.

Have you thought of Chris Hemsworth (Thor) for Jaimie? Gabriel Aubrey is also a good choice but he's a model not an actor and if he couldn't pull off the part it would be a disaster don't you think? Hemsworth with reddish hair would, I think, be perfect. Love the other choices. Also think the folks who did Pillars of the Earth series would be the best choice to do this one. Just throwing that out there.

Very well done ~ this is the first cast list where I am comfortable with the choices. Good stuff! IMHO, it should be a miniseries a la Rome ~ a movie could only butcher it as it is a story with too many threads to be truncated.

This has got to be the BEST casting I've seen yet. However, I still don't know if Gabriel Aubrey is right for the part of Jamie (could be - he needs to beef it up just a little more) and I don't know if Jack Davenport is right for the part of Frank/Black Jack. I would prefer Jonathan Rys Meyers or Michael Fassbender in this role of Frank.

@lucifmello It shouldn't be a movie but a tv series, a movie wouldn't be able to successfully display any of the books. An HBO or an Tv series made by (can't remember the exact name) But there made by an British company.
@tlcasselman I totally agree with you. This would be much better as a mini-series or TV series for HBO or BBC. The books involve so much detail that it would be lost in a 2 hour movie and would come out making no sense. The characters picked here are absolutely perfect. I don't see flaws in any of them. Nice picks! I must add Rupert Penry-Jones as my perfect Lord John...and Aubry is a bit too pretty. Fergus is perfect! This is fun...if only it were really happening.
Great Cast Selections, and although Gabriel Aubry is nice Jamie eye candy, I agree with character complexity, how about Andy Whitfield (Spartacus), he is more of the rugged highlander type, and has those blue cat eyes that Claire is always referring too. Although, Hayden P. is perfect looks wise, I do not think that role should be cast to an American, I think they should look closer to home for that role, I've seen a few other actresses suggested on other sites, that would be better.
Perfect claire.. she has the eyes and that hair.. Everyone keeps putting up people with damn near straight hair and claire has that big mess of curls..
as for Jamie.. Hes bigger.. broader.. I dunno. he will be hard to cast.

As I was watching your video, I couldn't help myself thinking : « This it! » Sure, Gabriel Aubry is too delicate, but his face is the closest we could get. We have to keep in mind that there is nobody who could fit perfectly to the caracters since they are caracters and everybody's got there own image of them.
I can see everyone where they were placed except Jamie. Aubry is too refined and not rugged as Jamie should be. Excellent placement of Sean Bean and Brianna. Good job!

In typical Hollywood style, all of the characters were just too pretty. Jamie is definitely NOT manly enough. Ian was supposed to be homely. Jenny was spot on, Claire's hair was not coarse enough. Fergus--definitely not.. Get an English or Scottish casting director. The people from the past weren't rough enough looking. Not everyone needs to be beautiful.. Be realistic for God's sake..

Wow! This comes closest to how I imagined the characters. There are some actors here I've not heard of before but visually they seem spot on. Your vision of Ian especially is so similar to mine its uncanny. I loved this video - beautiful photo choices and mesmerising music. You should be the casting consultant!

Simon Baker is not effeminate enough for Lord John, and I don't picture Jenny that way. But the rest are spot on! Especially Brianna! And Sean Bean would be perfect as Dougal. Gerard Butler, I agree would be brilliant, but I have not yet seen any man who looks like my Jamie <3 Good work, this is awesome stuff!

Right on! Thanks for posting this! The only thing I would change is that Jack Randall should look more sinister, maybe a smile for him would be better. Also, young Ian's person looks too serious- I think he should have more of a good-natured easy-going face.

Have you thought of Chris Hemsworth (Thor) for Jaimie? Gabriel Aubrey is also a good choice but he's a model not an actor and if he couldn't pull off the part it would be a disaster don't you think? Hemsworth with reddish hair would, I think, be perfect. Love the other choices. Also think the folks who did Pillars of the Earth series would be the best choice to do this one. Just throwing that out there.

I think this is the perfect claire. I would like gerard butler to be jamie but with red hair of course. The Brianna one is perfect all so. When I watch these videos I just cry like a baby. Am I the only one?

I have a new candidate for the role of Jamie. I just finished watching the Tudors series and the actor who plays the Charles Brandon the Duke of Suffolk would make a perfect Jamie. The actor name is Henry Cavill. Here are some videos of his work, tell be what you think.

Very well done ~ this is the first cast list where I am comfortable with the choices. Good stuff! IMHO, it should be a miniseries a la Rome ~ a movie could only butcher it as it is a story with too many threads to be truncated.

Wow... BEST outlander cast video I've seen. I almost completely agree with your choices. The guy u chose for Jamie seems too pretty though! And I always thought Patrick Stewart would make a perfect Frank/Black Jack Randall... Maybe he's too well known now though ( this was a few years ago that I formed that opinion). I saw a video on here that promotes Sandra Bullock as Claire and BARBARA frickin STREISAND as someone else!!!! Anyways, go you and beautiful music too!

I agree, HBO or Showtime. Her books are way too complex to do rightly by in a movie. However, a network like ABC or CBS better keep their hands off of it!! ABC did Terry Goodkinds "Wizards First Rule" book and butchered it!! I would love to see what a movie does though...

This has got to be the BEST casting I've seen yet. However, I still don't know if Gabriel Aubrey is right for the part of Jamie (could be - he needs to beef it up just a little more) and I don't know if Jack Davenport is right for the part of Frank/Black Jack. I would prefer Jonathan Rys Meyers or Michael Fassbender in this role of Frank.

I like all your casting. I do have one suggestion though, for Stephen Bonnet I have to go with Josh Hollaway the guy who plays Sawyer in the series Lost. He IS Stephen Bonnet.

I love your casting for this movie. I pictured Jamie a little taller and a little more broad through the shoulders, but very nicely done. I don't know if I see Hayden as an older heavier woman, as in later books. Kiia Waden is a perfect choice for Brianna, although Laura Prepon would be a good choice as well. I'm just so glad you didn't put Gerard Butler as Jamie. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

@tlcasselman I totally agree with you. This would be much better as a mini-series or TV series for HBO or BBC. The books involve so much detail that it would be lost in a 2 hour movie and would come out making no sense. The characters picked here are absolutely perfect. I don't see flaws in any of them. This is the perfect cast in my mind now....

Ben en fait je ne sais pas trop, de ce que j'ai lu sur d'autres sites (site officiel des livres) que Diana avait accepté qu'ils fassent un film, mais que ça prendrais 2 ans et qu'ils pourraient peut-être commencer le tournage d'ici 2011 -_- bref on va encore attendre longtemps... De toute façon ce genre de film est super long à tourner à cause des reconstitutions...J'espère t'avoir au moins un peu aidée :)

Great Cast Selections, and although Gabriel Aubry is nice Jamie eye candy, I agree with character complexity, how about Andy Whitfield (Spartacus), he is more of the rugged highlander type, and has those blue cat eyes that Claire is always referring too. Although, Hayden P. is perfect looks wise, I do not think that role should be cast to an American, I think they should look closer to home for that role, I've seen a few other actresses suggested on other sites, that would be better.

As I was watching your video, I couldn't help myself thinking : « This it! » Sure, Gabriel Aubry is too delicate, but his face is the closest we could get. We have to keep in mind that there is nobody who could fit perfectly to the caracters since they are caracters and everybody's got there own image of them.
But, I think you did a wonderful job. :)

I can see everyone where they were placed except Jamie. Aubry is too refined and not rugged as Jamie should be. Excellent placement of Sean Bean and Brianna. Good job!

Jenny is the only one that doesn't work for me. She had very pale skin and dark hair and a long nose like Jaime. The rest are Great!!! The Jaime one looks like I pictured him when he is younger. :)

In typical Hollywood style, all of the characters were just too pretty. Jamie is definitely NOT manly enough. Ian was supposed to be homely. Jenny was spot on, Claire's hair was not coarse enough. Fergus--definitely not.. Get an English or Scottish casting director. The people from the past weren't rough enough looking. Not everyone needs to be beautiful.. Be realistic for God's sake..

No, I dont need to be realistic.That only is a joke, I agree with you regarding some characters,mostly Jamie, Gabriel gets to be too delicate close to Jamie, ike him it is described in the books, however I used that model because Diana said itself that he owns a physical likeness(face).
