Thanks for the review! I bought a Wen kit when they had a Today's Special Value price, but I have soo many hair products (including & conditioner) that I haven't even gotten around to trying it out yet. But I remember watching the demo and thinking, 'DAMN that's a lot of product to use for one shower!'
I guess Chaz Dean claims that the product supposedly replaces most or all of your current hair products, such as leave-in treatment, detangler, styling, etc., so that makes up for the heavy usage
I have been using Wen for years now. But I have to alternate it. It does clean my hair though. Sally has Hair One which is the same idea. I did a video about it. :)
i wanted to love it but i don't. i have short, coarse, normal, colored treated hair and i find that it makes it kinda greasy eventhough i'm ocd about rinsing. oh well, i'll stick to purology and redken.
I feel the same way... I started using WEN 4 or so years ago and it is really expensive to keep up with- even purchasing it at QVC where there prices are lowest. If it were less expensive I would probably continue using it. Sally Beauty has a generic version of this that I haven't tried...
I have been using WEN for a year. It DOES NOT wash out your hair color. My highlights/lowlights last forever. I developed allergies to shampoo detergents, so WEN really helped me. Also, my dog has severe allergies and her skin has improved so much using it on her. QVC offers the best prices and deals on WEN. I love the lavender. I have long hair, and like Aprille, use less than recommended. The key is to use plenty of water when using it.
I tried the Wen cleanser also and found that it worked okay. Not great and you have to use sooooo much product and for me it the process took to much time. Putting it on, rubbing it in, letting it sit, and having to rinse it for so long. eeehhhh needless to say I didnt repurchase.
That's too bad! But of course not everything works for everyone! ;) I really do not spend any extra time with this product that with my regular shampoo/conditioner. Maybe like one extra minute massaging my scalp, but hey, a good scalp massage is always a treat! ;)
I agree though, the amount of product required is just insane!!! They should make it cheaper, if anything! ;)
Yeah, I really wanted it to love it after watching the infomercial. I really liked the scent and actually tried it on two different occasions. I always go back to my bedhead superstar!
Weird! I'd freak out if I saw all the cats like that! LOL
I seriously was tempted to delete everyone from my twitter except you, Mary & Peachy! LOL Cuz you 3 were the only ones i talk to regularly. Maybe you should create a secret account with a totally different name, so no one knows its you. LOL Then just follow a few positive people ;)
But yeah, it is very addictive & a break from it is always good!
The sodium laurel suflate is what makes it get super lathery and makes reg shampoo last a longer time but it actually dries out your hair. You can easily find shampoos that leave out the harsh ingredients. Organix, Burts Bees and Yes to Carrots(or tomatoes or cucumbers idk)
They are more spendy but not much more than $10 a bottle.
I have been wanting to try Wen, but I might pass cause of the price to the usage of it. I am glad you did this review because I was wondering of any1 has used it
Hello. Just wanted to let you know that you can use ANY conditioner to wash your hair like this. I personally use Suave Naturals coconut conditioner to wash my hair. Only costs about a bit more then a dollar for a bottle of it...a lot cheaper then Wen. :) I also love V05 conditioner. Looking at the ingredients in Wen, it's actually just a conditioner. I suggest you try out using a regular conditioner to wash your hair if you like Wen, you'll get similar results and save money. :)
The price of a product does not necessarily reflect the harshness of the ingredients. 2 of the 3 Wen conditioners actually contain silicone, which the Suave does not. What the Silicone does, is coat your hair to make it "look" healthier. In actuality, it is not making it healthier. Silicones can weigh down your hair, and seal moisture out of it. They also build up on the hair, and if you don't clarify every once in a while your hair will look limp and dull from it.
OMG, no i didn't even know there was a meteor shower!? Was it just tonight??
I miss you like crazy on twitter already! LOL Hardly any point in me staying, you were like the only one who talked to me!n Maybe I'll have to stalk your YT channel & spam it with "tweets" hehe
Great review, Aprille! I've seen this on QVC a ton of times and I always wanted to try it but the amount you have to use really turns me off for the cost. But they do an awesome demo of how it doesn't ruin your color..which is a plus for those of us that get color happy! Check out QVC if you repurchase, they have some pretty good kits and lots of different scents that do different things.
Thanks! I may look into other similar products, or as some people have mentioned, using a normal conditioner only. I have done that before. like alternate shampooing normally & just using conditioner.
does this product work on really thick, frizzy hair? every review i've found is on natrually straight or thin hair.

do you shampoo before using this product?

@EternalForsythia No, this product *is* the "shampoo" =)
It's a cleansing conditioner, so it is all you need to use.

Have you tried Cibu Spring roll? I think it's a bit pricey for the small bottle but you get alot more use out of it then that Wen it looks like like.

Currently I only use CIBU products (well, besides my 2 week break to try this Wen out, LOL) and i think CIBU is SLS free.
I dunno if they are considered pricey since I get the 2 liters for $34. And they last quite a long time.

the point of Wen is leave out the harsh ingredients and when you use really cheap products like Suave they leave all of the harsh products in.
