@MrNielsJ well it wouldnt be ideal for a golden to be home alone all day they love to be with their people and they need a ton of exercise or they will destroy also if they dont get exercise they could suffer from joint problems such as hip dysplasia as they are very prone to it.. on the other hand if you were with the dog a lot and brought it for long walks im sure it would adapt to it but if you were not around much and you have no time to go for walks than this is not the dog for u

@dragonoidmon1 chemotherapy is the only way to cure the cancer, but its hard to find the exact cancer cell in its body, even if its diagnosed, you can't be sure that it will not come back again, its just like cancer in humans. i have a 4 months old golden. My vet said, if you are lucky you wont get cancer, Hip dysplasia or skin allergy. I'm playing for these wonderful breeds to be healthy

My golden who recently passed of cancer, was the best dog I ever had. He was so obedient and loving. and so good with any people. I've had two goldens and neither of them have been biters. My one who recently passed would never dream of biting anyone. And about them not being a guard dog, this is simply not true, my golden would have ripped to pieces anyone trying to hurt his family. Golden Retrievers do have bad breath! my purebread golden retirever died of cancer then i got a new one and we only kept it for a week and it had his displasia :( my first golden died at four it was so sad. does anyone know what it means if the goldens nose gets brownish at a few years old?

@thecool247365 get a lab. no biting issue, no hair cleaning issue....though more energetic. goldens (typically) do bite if not from a good breeder

@thecool247365 No dog would bite unless you get it from an idiot breeder or you are a retard who cannot raise a dog properly. Every year, there are more lab bites than doberman bites thanks to idiots. A Golden Retriever is one of the best dogs for first-time pet owners. As long as you socialize it to many different people, animals and situations since puppyhood, you're good. Good luck if you're getting a Golden. One of the calmest and gentlest creatures on our planet.

@chosenpokemonchamp nope didn't get a dog yet, still working over the finances. When i do get a dog it'll more than likely be a golden but if i see a lab i connect with than a lab it is. The labs have been growing more and more lately. I'll keep you posted and even put up vids and pics of my new puppy when i get it, thanks for asking.

@mastaroni6 It depends. If you keep them chained in the back and all they see is the owners then they might not be really good with strangers. (that is with any dog) But if you socialize them, taking them for walks, meet new dogs, and discipline them right they are great with everybody and ofcourse loyal to their owners. Training a Golden is a breeze. Mine learned how to do 4 tricks in 3 hours. They are not mean dogs at all. I never had a problem with mine. I would recommend this dog to anyone.

My golden just turned 4 years old and man.. what can i say... I trained him for 3months after that every command i give he follows, and learns so god damn fast its amazing. I don;'t even have to use words i just wave my hand he will follow. And when it comes to balls/fetching, that bot can carry anything to you. My dog picks up news papers and beer from fridge, and all that amazing training took me about 1 hour max. Some of the things he knows i never taught.Never mistreat them. OR put on leash.

@MrBlakeLee When I was 12 my dad brought home a golden. We never tried to train him because we thought they would only learn from experts training them. But as he grew we noticed he picked up on our words and actions. He taught himself all the basics. Sit, down, stay, and no barking. Truely and absolutely smart dogs.
