Well here is the thing. I moved out of the original residence it was at and took the new washer with me. My brother and mother started using the washer again. They said they didn't have to many problems. But then it broke again, not because of the lint, but it kept overfilling and flooding. So bro gave up and got a front loader. LOL
I've removed and cleaned the inner basket and ring peices and the hose from outer tub to pump. I've tried different detergents. And I've tried Calgon water softener. I STILL HAVE THE LINT. It makes me ITCH! Helpppp.
I no longer have the piece of crap. I went and bought a Bosch Washer and Dryer and have been a happy camper ever since. So what to do to fix it. I got no clue. If any one else knows, Please lend a helping hand.
I have a 1995? MayTag stacked washing machine/dryer. I'm getting streaks of LINT. I've stopped it right after it drains...right before the rinse cycle starts. And I can see the streaks of lint caked on. I've tried a cup of distilled vinegar in the wash. I've tried soaking(for hours) an empty, full load of hot water with a gallon of distilled vinegar.
Glad you havent had an issue. The BOSCH Washer and Dryer have been working great without a single problem. So I am most satisfied with my purchase of those!
Ok Bigbadbart25, Here is what i can tell you I had a 2003 Maytag performa that gave me hell on the lint. it is supposed to have a built in lint filter, but as to my knowledge it clogges, and is a bitch to repair. I have since gotten rid of my maytag, and in 06 i purchesed a Speed Queen set, much better cleaning than the Maytag, and guess what? No lint. So my suggestion to you would be is to get rid of the Maytag and get a Speed Queen set.
I did find a solution a big solution to the problem. I went and did research on the web, and looked at complaint logs, and I found that BOSCH had the least. and it was stupid stuff like longer wash time, and annoying buzzer. I got a BOSCH washer. Basic model. and it has worked flawlessly and lint is down 95%. it is so nice to just put on an outfit and go!
I can't help but i have the same problem, so if anyone knows of a good solution, pls advise. I used to have a GE washer with a built in lint filter (which had to be cleaned after each load) that worked great! When I bought my new washer, i was told no washer has this type of filter anymore. TO add insult to injury, all that lint going down the drain eventually clogs the drain. Tks
Hey nancy, with this model of washer, there is no filter. It is supposed to automatically take the lint through the holes in the tub and put it down the drain with the water. But it does not work well at all.
Performas dont have lint or any kind of filters, I repair washers in Mexico and I offer a service, costs about 90 dollars, And I dissasemble the washer to clean everything necessary, check out my pics at WEBSHOTS DOT COM, just type MAYTAG PERFORMA on the search bar to see the pics and/or the entire album (some captions are in english)
Hi BBB
I know you wrote this 3 years ago but I just found out how to remove the lint problem from the Maytag manufacturers.
Run the machine through the soak cycle with super hot water and with no clothes in it. The lint disappears.
It fixed my problem but I bet you already bought a new machine anyway!
(Apparently there is a lint filter but it is at the bottom of the machine on the inside)

Yeah, we have a Performa and we have massive lint problems.
I just bought a 1999 Model Maytag Dependable Care and I haven't got any lint problems whatsoever from it.

Yeah the old dependable "Dependable Care" washers are great, even better than the Performa's that replaced them some years later.
See my channel for videos on both of them.

I've seen an attachment for vacuum cleaners so that you can just suck up the lint.
I don't know if I understand the problem though. Do you think it's a defect?
nanciesweb 4 years ago
Oh wait, you mean the washer, not dryer.
I see. This could be a filter problem. I wonder if something is clogged.
