Absolutely excellent. She was the very definition of elegant, accurate singing. She didn't play with the melody or make fanciful changes to the lyrics, she just sang it straight out, with deep conviction and the right amount of emotion, and it's utterly satisfying to hear.
thank you for posting this wonderful song and slide show. Rosemary did some her best work in the twilight of her career, as evidenced in this recording. She was way beyond the commercialism of her 50's pop songs, and into recording jazz standards they way they were meant to be sung. Concord Records teamed her up with the best of it's stable of musicians, like Scott Hamilton (sax) and Warren Vache(cornet). Any lover of jazz stds should check out Clooney on her 80's Concord discs.
@HarmonicaSavant Wow! I could not have said it better - & so very glad you took the time do so. She hung on & came out ahead. You very much know your topic and I am quiet pleased you pointed out the important points. As a person who called in sick to work & drove all night to attend Rosemary's funeral mass in Kentucky, I thank you for your comment.
