@bobcity25 That may be true today, but back in the day there were certain sects of Shaolin that defected due to differing philosophies both religious and martial. One groups defected and became the Wudang, the soft internal aspects of the art from which Tai Chi sprang from, another spread to Tibet and became Lama's. Though never great in number, they along with Wudang fought the Shaolin but for whatever reason the fighting Lama's were either defeated or just died out.

@YambidiBlamBlam If I'm not badly mistaken, (and I may be, its been some time since I read any scriptures), the buddhists believe in a place of punishment called Naraka, an underworld which has demons that preside over various sections of it. Also, Sidharta Gautama (the buddha), encountered demons during his quest for enlightenment.
