  • Hahaha this is awesome.

  • AVGN style )) Great!

  • Linux is OS for smart guys .. esp developers ... If u guys dnt understand internals o care abt system security & and provided u have money ... go buy windows ..... Or better buy MAC . Just 2 remind u ... Linux is the most preferred OS for server setup , whether that be we hosting , database , clusters , virtualization or cloud ... Why ? Performance , Scalability , level of troubleshooting etc....
  • @Links1984 Exactly what a self-righteous Linux user would say.

  • My skype chat listens to this every christmas time. lol

  • This song has officially made my day tenfold, my roommate is the biggest linux fanboy and this will piss him off SO MUCH. Now to bookmark and wait. Wait for juuuust the right moment. His destruction will be swift, his toast will be burnt, and NO AMOUNT of scraping will remove the black stuff!

  • "Patching your stupid kernel." LOL!

  • I have listened to this numerous times and it simply cracks me up. Good job! "re-partition! Install Windows over that shit." :) Oh, and, "stop patronizing the clerk." So many good lines.

  • The FSF is DEAD.

Their purpose of providing source code with software is defeated by runtime langauges like PHP, ASP, CSS, HTML 5, JavaScript...etc

Glad to see the B#@! Die.

  • "You spend time patching kernel"

Yeah, do this with MS and recieve life sentence in federal jail.

"Windows Vista in my live journal"

Live Journal is owned by linux. Your "live journal"?

    Troll on.

  • @lin545 Live Journal is owned by Linux? Linux is not a company and they don't own shit. Derp.

  • im listening to this through opera on windows 7 where you DON'T need an emulator or press ` to make it work!!! :D

  • Well ViSTA was a success eh.

  • @jerrytaichi

    Vista was no success.

Yet it was a better success than any Linux Distro.

People who didn't like Vista switched back to XP, a several years old OS, to NOT USE Linux.

    Keep your crap for yourself.

  • @dragonide2 It was an honest opinion. Anyway thank you for your thoughtful & mature reply. Much appreciated.

  • This song is awesome!

  • I love that years later there's still linux users raging over this song.

  • @ddhboy2 haha. I'm a linux user, yet this song is soo funny!!!

[Lookin forward to Windows 8 though]. I was a beta tester for Windows7 and I must say its quite good. No point in arguing, just use both!!

  • I just came to say HELLO !

Another year has passed and I DO STILL hate Linux and Linux fanboys.

Thx again for this song ;)

  • @dragonide2 I don't hate Linux but I do hate Freetards and the god forsaken GPL.

Im sorry but I like to keep the source code to myself. Its great if somebody finds a bug but I think I will fix it myself.

    Thanks anyway GPL.

  • Windos is a good OS.

  • I use it but this is still funny

  • i use linux but this fuckin video is funny

  • startx retart. Do you GUI motherfucker?

  • Tried RedHat - rather get it up the keester than run that horrible system.

  • I'm listening to this on my LMDE box :D

  • What's the name of the song the is used in the credits?

  • geez, forget about the lyrics, but couldn't you at least find someone who can sing?

  • This video was probably made by an M$ fanboy who didn't bother learning how to use Linux. That said, Linux isn't a perfect OS (no OS is though).

Biggest problem with Linux: Gfx drivers suck major ass, at least with ATi. The open-source drivers don't support OpenGL shaders, and it takes an Act of God to get fglrx (the proprietary ATi drivers) working properly. I still can't get fglrx working properly.

Also, if standby is ever used, my pc will crash if I later shut down (prob just my PC tho)

  • @Teraforce88 The only major problem I had setting up my Linux box was getting the damn intel driver + DRI working.

I even made a tutorial on linuxquestions so nobody else would have to spend a week pulling their hair out.

Everything else works perfectly. I haven't had to reinstall or change much software on this laptop for 2 years now.

Nvidia drivers are known to work really well. I would use an nvidia card over ATI any day. Just for the hardware support if anything else.

  • Nice lie about having balls. I've been running Ubuntu for 2 years and its never crashed, dumbass.

  • Awww, is someone having trouble using an OS that doesn't spoon-feed them everything? *pinches cheek* Stick with Windows, lil' homie. Leave Unix to the big boys and girls.

  • I think this is hilarious! I use Linux on two of my computers and I do have to say that I have had only one crash with Linux and it was my fault. Three crashes with XP in the last year. Use XP for gaming. Very good!

  • this vid is a classic

  • Ow. My fuckin ears!

  • LOL... by the way lInux rules...

  • if you have any kind of technical usery ability daulboot linux/win7 is best

if you know someone thats someone intelligent enough to avoid virus's give em a win7 machine

if you have someone that does not know how to use a computer avoid virus's and dosent need any specific special applications get em a cheap mac

  • linux reminds me of DOS

  • @ThompsonXP In what way?

  • thank god u put an end to its misery

  • Go in supermarket. Find a PC accessory... Works with what?? Windows and mac. Fuck Linux

  • @gezzaky plug it into linux and it will probly work too. You realize that Mac and Linux and both based off Unix right?

  • @11matt555 So? The kernel Windows uses is also partially based on UNIX. Not to the same extent really, but it's there. It's been there for more than 15 years actually.

  • @NotTheLaw That what im saying. If a accessory will work on Windows, it will at likely work on Mac and Linux as well. If it works on Mac, it will probably work on Windows and Linux, if it works on Linux it will probably work on Mac and Windows. Basically, if it works on one or more then it will probably work on all of them.

  • i don't hear anything????

  • @TheMorbiousStone ok now i do after reboot on unbuntu HAGHAHA true

  • @TheMorbiousStone probably because you're running linux

  • @AlexMax2742 Duh I already said that

  • @AlexMax2742 - Linux sux regardless. Despite what ppl say, it's NOT Unix.

  • @cinnamondouche

You have a beautiful voice. Fuck American idol.

  • Тruefax.

  • Why am I supposed to recognize the tune?

  • Linux sucks

  • @dragonide2 So does your mom

  • @dragonide2 Tis the season.

  • "They won't give you Linux drivers". WELL NO DUH! Linux doesn't use drivers. Most of this is BS but some of this is true. I can play games on linux (Native Linux and Windows). I haven't done anything to get my device to work with Ubuntu except for installing Ubuntu. And also I don't use linux because it is free. I paid for Winblows Vista. I just don't fee like using that shit. I might use Windows 7 (not as a main os) But your device don't "simply work". You need drivers.

  • @Chintendoeddman Not completely true, in some situations you'll need to find drivers for Linux. Running Fedora on my laptop, every graphical would lag and I couldn't get resolution higher than 800x600 but when I installed my Nvidia driver for it everything worked find, (Except for Compiz which would freeze up a lot)

  • @dotNetZombie Yes. I had to use jockey to get my graphics card to work with it. But it isn't a driver. You configure it to work with your system if I could explain it. This means Almost all hardware is compatable. But if it is supported then it makes things easier

  • @Chintendoeddman Linux needs drivers. Most of them are just integrated into the kernel by default.

  • @JamesManes They need to be factored into the OS. They work almost like drivers, but because of this you can run ALL hardware on Linux distributions. Even the stuff you make.

  • @Chintendoeddman Uh, no. That is absolutely false. Linux has major issues with ACPI. Look at my latest video. Sure it runs my trackpad, but it runs it like a pile of shit. This is the case with most linux driver issues.

  • Apparently 330 people who saw this video does not have a sense of humor.

  • "Virtual Windows runs faster than booting Windows normal"

That's a lie, and you a stupid hippie.

    xD

You are just a couple of clowns , very funny one , just like any Linux User.

  • @dragonide2 Yes it is true even if it wasn't you can boot from a saved virtual state ...

"That's a lie, and you a stupid hippie."

    and you should say

    That's a lie, and you're a stupid hippie ... ;)

  • rotfl

Using Linux and Emulating Windows is the most lame thing in the world xD

    AhahahahahahAHahahAHAHAH

  • WIndows Vista is slow, unstable, and just bad in general. I think Microsoft should have stopped at Windows Xp. An actual good OS

  • @Chintendoeddman

    You understand nothing

    ^________^

  • @Chintendoeddman Vista was a resource hog, but later on after the release, people started to like Vista. Majority of my class at the time upgraded to Vista. It seem pretty stable to us.

  • You can find shit in every street, you can find shit in every country. You can find shit near your home, and near your school. There will be shit below your foot everytime you don't pay attention. Shit will be there, in the park while you walk. You will find shit even when you go shopping.

Shit is everywhere, and it's free.

    Just like Linux.

  • Linux has alot of games. This user obviously has never tried Ubuntu or anything Linux based with a GUI

  • @Chintendoeddman

Yea like Tetris or some stupid jumping Penguin.

  • @dragonide2 I play World of Warcraft, Portal (any steam game would work), Diablo 2, Frets on Fire, Savage 2, Alien Arena, Platinum Arts Sandbox, Peggle, Frozen Bubble(linux only game), Hedge Wars, Neverball, Nexuiz, Emulators for almost all Consoles, And there are a lot more

  • @Chintendoeddman

    WOW is 4 years old.

Diablo 2 is 10 years old.

    The others are just crap.

    Linux is crap.

  • @Chintendoeddman

I can't believe you listed Peggle and Frozen Bubble.

    You REALLY are desperate.

  • @dragonide2 Hmmmm well those are games I play. But here are some more: Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Fear, Half Life, Grand theft auto, Guild Wars, Halo, Warhammer, Prince of Persia, Steam and all of its games, The elder scrolls, Sims, Tomb Raider, Trackmania, Warcraft (those are just SOME WINE games that I know that work. There are plenty more), Lugaru, .... Must I continue? Just because I like to play games like Peggle doesn't mean that is all Linux is capable of. And Direct X is very slow

  • @Chintendoeddman

    AhahahaHAHahHAAH

Wine ... Emulating Windows on Linux is the only way to get something good on it.

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Btw you say Direct X is slow ... how does it feel to emulate Direct X to play them then? xD

    AhahAHahahahahahahah

  • @dragonide2 hmmm you are the one who knows nothing.

    W ine

    I s

    N ot an

    E mulator.

No joke that is what it really stands for. Oh yeah and I don't play with direct X 10. I use a program called Playonlinux. It changes the games to Open Gl and installs them. Open Gl is faster. World of warcraft is faster on Ubuntu than on Winblows Vista. You don't know how to use a computer, so you use windows because the Os is so simple that even the Amish can use it. But Winblows is unstable and slow.

  • @Chintendoeddman

I use Windows because i don't have time to lose.

Linux IS unstable and slow, always missing some drivers o needing patch of manual modifications to work properly.

LinSucks is just what you deserve.

    Ahahah.

  • @dragonide2 Hmmmmm I haven't installed any drivers on my computer and yet everything works. Wireless, Graphics, sound, etc. So maybe it is you and your hardware. Not all hardware is supported out of the box but Linux supports more hardware than Winblows. Oh yeah and Ubuntu (what I am using) Boots up in 30 seconds. Ubuntu only uses 300 mb or ram. And how you can say it is unstable baffles me. You are quite dumb when it comes to computers. Probabley why you use windows.

  • @dragonide2 "Wine ... Emulating Windows on Linux is the only way to get something good on it."

You don't know anything about Linux because Wine is not the only way to run Windows software in Linux... PlayOnLinux, WINE, CrossOver , VirtualBox , VMware , Parallels all for Linux ... and Virtual Windows runs faster than booting Windows normal ... You are one dumb Troll ...

Mac did Emulation and Virtual Windows for years, and then they started making more software for Mac ...

  • @maw88ify "and Virtual Windows runs faster than booting Windows normal"

hmm are you running a magical virtual machine?

Because I use VMWare at work, and that is not true for me.

  • @dotNetZombie Are you running vmWare inside Linux ? vmWare is slow , but it seem to run faster inside Linux. VirtualBox seems to boot faster than vmWare... I give My virtual Machines between 2 and 4 GB ...

My virtual machine boots in 52 sec. my real Windows boot up take 74sec I've timed it before.

  • @maw88ify Well I guess I should have a little test with that. I'll back on you with that.

  • @dotNetZombie One reason it boots faster is because in a virtual machine I don't need anti-virus to load at boot up ...

  • @dragonide2 No Linux also has game that cost money like "World of goo" that is a great game for Linux ... Plus Linux can play a lot of Windows games and software ...

  • @maw88ify

    In your immaginare world probably.

    2% dude, 2% ....

  • Btw years have passed, yet every time I listen to this song i laugh like crazy :P

The "repartition" ending is a fucking stroke of genius :P

  • @dragonide2 You can hear the stereo version on 42-11 dot com with my other shit.

  • (( Kaspersky )) rescue disk is a Linux live CD used ti fix Windows viruses ...

That's right Linux Kaspersky is used to fix crappy Windows ...

For sale at Walmart, and BestBuy ...

People will lie about Linux, and tell you no one uses it, but Linux is every where ...

  • @maw88ify

You are the one who tells lies.

Existance of Recovery Bootable Applications based on Linux Kernel proves nothing.

For example EasyBCD is an application to fix boot problems caused by Crappy Lilo and Crappy Grub when installing Crappy Linux. Yea, a Windows Application to fix problems caused by installing Linux.

Stupid people and fanboys always existed. You can lie about "Linux is everywhere" but the fact is that only 2% of home users accepted Linux.

Accept reality & take a life.

  • @dragonide2 really only 2%. You do know the most of the world s servers , and cluster , and 3D Render-farms are Linux. Google uses Linux, Android, the ELSE Smart Phone is Linux. Many printers, cameras , phones all use the Linux Kernel. You use Linux ever time you get on the Internet. Amazon also uses Linux.

I found this one a web site about who many geniuses there are in the world, and thought it was funny ... "only 2% of the population are real geniuses"

  • @maw88ify

Still only 2% of home users use it.

    Get a Life.

  • @dragonide2 You are wrong EasyBCD is not just for Linux it's for any dual-boot... even if you just had XP, and Windows 7 on a dual-boot you can use EasyBCD ...

Here is another site "If we go with Mensa's standards and assume that only 2% of the population are real geniuses, then statistically about 6 million people in the United States would fit the bill."

  • @maw88ify

It's not just for Linux, but most people discover it to fix boot problems cause by Grub or Lilo.

Ok, even if what you say would make sense you are just saying Linux is for geniuses. Good. Windows is for everybody.

    Get a Life. Again.

  • @dragonide2 You know what Windows is also good for ? Windows is good for collecting viruses , malware , scareware, and more, and it only cost 200 , or 300 dollars for the worlds best virus magnet ...

  • @maw88ify

That's whay linux fanboys keep on spreading, for the good of their religion.

The curious thing is i never saw a virus in Vista or Seven.

Linux it's not free, it has a cost of tons of hours. Tons of hours for the best world's biggest shit ever.

  • @maw88ify Funny, because everyone I know that switched to either Vista or Win7 hasn't had viruses or malware. And most people don't buy Windows, they buy a computer that will come with Windows.

  • you're just a baby who can't handle a real operating system.and by the way linux is awesome.99% of the world''s supercomputers run linux none run windows or other OS'.and the developers patch holes more quickly than microsoft.plus each and every version of windows will have a limit in security, cause why would microsoft make xp more secure than vista,or vista more secure than 7?everything is limited so it'll become more and more insecure.

  • @staticrubber

    lol another stupid statement.

What you said can be applied to Linux too. Newer versions of distros are securer than the previous one (even if this statement make me laugh xD ). That means there will be always be something to patch, both in windows or in linux (actually MANY things in linux need a good patch). Microsoft doesn't need to make it's own OS unstable to have a valid reason to develop a new one. Every software engineer knows that every software has a limited life.

  • I love linux, but I also love this song.

  • Your right. Everyone writes their crap in it, and screw it the hell up, wait... It still runs FASTER THEN WINDOWS EVER WILL.

  • @Zillionair1 No it doesn't. On my computer, Windows 7 64 Bit boots in 9 Seconds. And for comparison, a fresh installation of Fedora takes over 2 minutes.

  • you can tell by the quality that this was made on windows lol.. what shit

  • @bumr055 Or you know, he doesn't own the best camera in the universe, you insensitive fuck.

  • @OmnicronTheta I never said "picture quality"

  • No. Unix V6 on the SIMH emulator sucks my balls.

  • install Mac over Microsoft shit

  • god damn this song sucks

  • @oneonta310 Really? I think the song rocks. :D

  • This was amazing.

  • The biggest lie in computing . . . It works!

I installed windows . . . and my devices were not found. No network. No USB drives. Thankfully, I had a Ubuntu 9.10 disk laying around. I burned drivers and service packs to a CD from the Ubuntu system I installed side by side. Don't trust anything. Don't assume anything. Plan. Have a lot of fun. I certainly have.

  • Which one of the many Linux distros was this?

  • Google uses Linux because it makes for a good text-based FREE OS. Do you think they want to pay M$ a license for every one of their servers? Right, they don't. So they, like many businesses run Linux. And they hire highly-skilled administrators to run them (again, with no GUI). As a server OS Linux is admirable. As a Desktop OS for the average user, it's a cluster fuck.

  • @ironpen92 hahahaha well if you can maintain a linux distro on the desktop then its perfectly fine.

But the real power of linux is in the terminal.

  • Been using Linux for about 9 years and now that I know how to use it correctly, I don't have any issues with it.

Linux is not perfect and no operating system ever will be.

Linux is just as close to perfect as any operating system could be.

Macintosh would be great except for the hefty price tag.

  • @autonomous2010

And this is why people use Linux. They want good software, but they aren't willing to pay for it.

  • @ironpen92 I can related to that.

I am still growing up and I am still looking for a job.

I can't afford to whip out a couple hundred dollars for every software I need and I shouldn't/don't have to.

  • @autonomous2010

A couple hundred dollars? What software are you talking about? The OS upgrades themselves? I use a lot of free or open-source software, but I have also paid for software that I used often and felt it was worth buying. Your money helps support developers. Even open-source, free software developers setup donation boxes. People need to stop thinking their software should be free. Sometimes the best option isn't a free one.

  • @ironpen92 Software like adobe products such as photoshop, fireworks, dreamweaver, or after effects. AKA Professional software.

I understand that all that money does indeed help programmers/developers.

How many people do you think actually donate money online for a software?

I also understand that not all free options are the best ones.

    ex:

I can get a free crap cell phone but I can purchase a brand new one with a LOT more useful features for $60+

  • @ironpen92 That may be true but I use linux because I like to have the source code of every program that I use. I like to have the option to add more features if I want to.

But the free tid-bit is nice too.

  • @autonomous2010 Yes, but most programmers do not want to give their source code out. If they were more open to different kinds of software (Closed, "Non-Free" in a GPL sense) they'd probably get alot more application support as there would be a market for it, compared to now. (BTW I'm a programmer).

  • @OmnicronTheta I can understand that.

Being a game programmer I spend a LOT of time creating games. Even years in some cases.

I must admit though software and game piracy is a BIG issue right now and will continue to be for quite a while. It is estimated that a program/game lasts about a week before people start pirating it. This fact alone can be unsettling to some/most programmers. Including me.

Some people believe that opensource software increases piracy but I don't see any connection.

  • @autonomous2010 I don't see that connection either, but I do see how someone could steal my work (Engine) and then trying to use it where I could make profit.

Or say Adobe Photoshop, I don't think they want to give out the code as most people would just start using it to compete with them, which would result in a loss of sales. (Yeah Bad example as we all know how much Photoshop is pirate :P)

  • @autonomous2010

How can you say you don't see any connection? o_O

If i can see the source code i can develop crack even more easier, i can use defects to develop cracks and other malware.

A good closed source code surely offers better security than the same source code made opensource.

Every software has bugs to exploit and attack it's security. None attack Linux coz none has interest in doing so. But MANY people has interest in attacking Microsoft (and eventually Apple).

  • If you think Linux sucks, you aren't using it right. Just give yourself some time to find some cool programs, and hopefully you'll change your mind.

Ah fanboys, we love to hate them.

  • @Chris08166 Uh, listen buddy. It's not user friendly, try using it on an average person, they will hate you for it. Trust me, I know from experience.

  • I commented here years ago.

I tried Linux again. Now i'm an expert in Linux and I love it. :)

  • I used to despise Linux, then I got it and despised Windows now I got my beautiful Windows back and I hate Linux xD It's useless!!!

  • good point lol. i only run linux on low-end computers.

  • No, ReactOS is an illegal implementation. Wine is a *legal* one. The Wine devs are quite aware of this, otherwise they wouldn't still be working on this and MS would have sued them a LONG time ago.

lol, replying to something said over a year ago.

  • This hilarious.

    I'm a 99% Linux user by the way. :)

  • If linux sucks so much, why is it used on all of googles 450,000+ servers?

  • @psp12345678998765432 Same reason the 450,000 homeless bums in America drink Leeds vodka instead of Absolut -- cost savings.

  • That might be true.. My experience with Server 2008 so far, has been quite amusing. Rebooting for update, While my Debian box has been running for 250 days. I even installed a PCI card in it, with it still running.

  • @cinnamondouche

If Linux sucks then why is Linux use by Pixar, and DreamWorks to render out high-end 3D using , Linux renderfarm , and Linux clusters?

Autodesk make Maya 3D for Linux, and Pixar makes Renderman 3D for Linux...

  • @maw88ify Dreanworks are using xp.. If you watch one there behind of scenes, They are actually using xp

  • Comment removed

  • @cinnamondouche Priceless comment.... XD

  • @cinnamondouche Then why wouldn't they just use FreeBSD? It has better uptime.

  • @TheGreatLolGirl1 Because they're ideals conflict with that. FreeBSD is better than Linux I agree with 100%.

  • Comment removed

  • @cinnamondouche corporations with this amount of servers could also get windows for nearly 0$. costs for support on gnu/linux is very expensive. so its not cost savings. gnu/linux is known to be more reliable and stable than windows, when its correctly configured.

if you say 'linux sucks' i know you can't handle the complexity of an operating system where YOU have the control (and not a corporation such as microsoft or apple)

hopefully this video is just a joke of you and not your opinion. ;)

  • @psp12345678998765432 it doesnt suck as a server os, it sucks at being an OS for the standard user

  • @tvandbeermakehomergo I agree. I've been using Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop for a while now though, It's nice when you can have a web server on your laptop for dev on the go.

  • @psp12345678998765432

if linux is so good, why isn't it used by everyone ? :)

why do you take offense by this video? :)

why so many people complaining about Linux being a shit (even if it's free) ? :)

  • @dragonide2 Not everyone uses it, because Windows is the "standard". I don't take offence to this video, obviously @cinnamondouche has some Linux experience, but no everyone sees that.. People complain about everything, no madder what the topic is...

  • @psp12345678998765432

it is used for a lot of servers because its free and a lot cheaper.

But in the realworld not every one runs a server or even knows what a server is.

Linux expects people to learn cmd(lol omg thats crapy) when i know people who dont even know how to change there own user icon etc in windows.

linux can beat windows and mac when clean there act up.

command is a thing of past with pcs anmd macs now, no one should have to use makefile etc instead people want to just click

  • @psp12345678998765432

The linux used on the googles 450,000+ servers IS NOT the linux you use at your home. And yet what you said is absolutely stupid.

    Linux means NOTHING.

Do you think you can play Videos or play Dead Space with the google version of Linux ? Or with the linux used by "supercomputers" ?

I'll tell you : you can not. You COULD do it with OpenSuse, Ubuntu, Fedora and other trash like these but ehi , you cannot coz they suck.

  • i am a big fan of linux, but this song is cleverly written

  • The music is just hilarious. It is one of the most funniest musics I have ever heard. :D

  • I love linux mint but this song is awesome... funny stuff

  • mint is a candy

  • ...ice. If you still want to use MS Office, 2007 is running very well in Wine here. Try to read the entry on the AppDB of the WineHQ site, it has a lot of useful tips to help you get running programs.

    3) You shouldn't need to modify your kernel. That's something for advanced users who really want to customize it for a (small) performance gain.

    4) That's too bad, but that's the manufacturer's fault. Still, terminal is not hard if you have basic reading comprehension skills...

  • @1r0bin1 Did you say too bad??? Well im not a advance shit to know all this shit. In vista or 7 i install the athros wifi card BOOM It works strait out of the box without the cd! Do they come with that driver in linux NO Also my laserjet hp printer i plugged it in my Shitty linux laptop it dont work :@ On windows 7 Plugged it in also BOOM also It works straight out from the box! Not Cd Either! Do you ever go in a super market and find a GOOD BRANDED Webcam like logitech say linux compatible???

  • Hold on...are you possibly implying that Linux is WORSE than Vista? DAAAAMN! THAT is an achievement. Vista is the biggest pile of shit ever to hit the world.

  • let me see linux beating windows 7 :))

  • I have no idea what you mean with that statement. As far as I'm aware, they're both good OSes that, at this point, work approximately equally well.

  • Comment removed

  • There could be several reasons... Sheer curiosity; the user being fed up with Windows being unstable on *their specific systems* (this reason goes for Linux users too actually, since hardware support vastly differs between the OSes); the user needing an efficient OS for a very specific use (good example is servers); the user wanting a modern OS on an old PC without performance issues (Windows 98 doesn't really cut it in this day and age).
