  • This organ has only 33 stops. Can you believe that?

    Herzlichen Dank, Merci bien!

  • @vleermuisje2 Comme vous j'écoute sans me lasser , peut-être pas jour et nuit , mais très souvent . Merci !

  • Quel orgue tout de même !

  • Just to clarify for everyone, this is 'Choral Alléluiatique No. 2' from part 44 of L'Orgue Mystique, for the 17th Sunday after Pentecost.

  • Yes, well disagree

  • Could you please upload more Tournemire pieces that are of this high quality of composition, setting, and playing ? Also, could you please tell who produced this recording?

    Thanks

  • This is powerful stuff! A worthy equal of the ubiquitous Te Deum improvisation.

You can see how Messiaen was influenced by Tournemire.

Tournemire's music should be much more well known than it is. He composed a huge amount, much of it for instruments and ensembles other than the organ.

Check out his Douze Préludes-Poemes for piano or his (seven?) orchestral symphonies!

  • Best music ever written for the organ!

  • Best piece for organ I have ever hear!

  • Great recording, I believe from the to-die-for Accord 12-CD box set Tournemire's complete L'Orgue Mystique, on three Cavaille-Coll organs and this one by Puget, played marvelously by Tournemire advocate Georges Delvallee. Set contains a detailed booklet including the Gregorian chant source for each of the Tournemire compositions and specifications of each of the organs used. I believe that it's sadly out of print but still available from Amazon in France.

  • @blogson - unfortunately, there seems to be a sticky legal situation over copyright with Tournemire, making the scores all but impossible to obtain, with Leduc charging a fortune for it (getting all of L'Orgue Mystique costs hundreds), and recordings are likewise all but impossible to obtain. Delvallée's set is unavailable either in France or the UK. It's sad, because Tournemire is losing exposure as a result. One day, as Messiaen said, the world will come to discover the genius of Tournemire...

  • Magnifique

  • Excellent playing - Superb piece! Perfect setting!!
