7) Open RSD Lite and click the three dots next to the blank space. Go to desktop and you'll see the MC1_A855.........sbf. Double click on it and you should see words under "File Properties"

Mine goes under "Device Properties" instead.. what do I do?

hey great tutorial..i got my first one rooted just fine using your process. how ever i tryed it on a second moto droid i had and when i tryed to boot into custom recovery it shows the trianle exclamation point above a phone. possably the stock recovery. any ideas how to get to the custom recover i tried to reflash the custom recovery but it just reboots the phone through rsd lite

The phone says it's rooted but the battery is now dead and will not take a charge. Plus, anytime I try to use any of the programs it says "Process System is not Responding". If you are having trouble during the installing part and it says something like cannot mound SD card, you need to backup your SD card, format it using the phone, and try it again.

2 things are wrong in the steps in the description.

1. you dont have to rename the file "update.zip" because if you do, it will name it "update.zipzip"

2. do not press x and power button when your phone is plugged into the computer because all it will do is go to bootloader. so unplug your phone from the computer first then press x and power to go to recovery mode and yeah.

@fatbackfisher I had this same problem, until I realized I wasn't running RSDLite as Administrator, which you must do in order for it to work..I ran it as Admin. and the file info. then popped up as it should.

Motorola has a limited 1 year warranty. If you want to root your Droid 1 phone, I would recommend that you wait until that warranty expires.
