Ever since I heard a piece from the Four Season (thought, admittedly, I'm not sure which one) I have wanted to learn to play the violin. Something about the way these pieces can convey so many emotions at once is amazing.

I think the idea is for it to be a tear-jerker. I plan on using the allegro movement of Winter for the seating of the family, because it's the basis of a DDR song that my FH loves. I'm not planning on telling him because it'll make him smile just a tiny bit more.

I understand the "tear-jerker" aspect, really. But (for myself) I find it a tad to depressing (not a feeling I want at a wedding). Tears of joy ..yes....Tears of sadness ...no. But, again that's my own opinion. Indeed, that's what's so special about music, its all a matter of perspective. And like any form of expression, its subject to interpretation. I'm sure your FH will love it. It is a beautiful piece, afterall.

This beautiful piece is my favourite of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I absolutely love the melody! The reason I started to play violin in my youth was mostly because of Vivaldi. But then it didn't turn out to be a good thing, because I wanted to play his music as perfectly as it is played on CD and, being a child who had just started learning to play the instrument, I couldn't. Then I got really frustrated and hated myself for not being able to play beautifully. x)

I still love Vivaldi, though! :)

Unfortunately not. :( I sometimes play it for fun but I don't take lessons anymore. I quit when I was 17 and I'm now 20 years old. Sometimes I wish I would have had more patience and really put more effort into playing the violin, but I suppose in the end it just wasn't the real instrument for me, you know. :)
