  • @0000000Lara Thanks!

  • looks Awsome !.....hope people notised toasted sessami seeds and not regular "they taste nothing " they are there for taste not only looks :)..

  • @gardini100 Yes, having toasted sesame seeds is important! :)

  • @ChefTips i tried it and it was fantastic .but i had not the time to make those triangles but found an other twist that was close to a crepes..but smaler and it was real nice ..thanks for the tips im gone use it a lot :)

  • @gardini100 Glad you enjoyed the recipe! The fried wontons are optional. This is great on its own! Cheers, Jason

  • authentic or not..who cares, this dish looks amazing. I would spice up a bit more too...yummyy!

  • @TheStarsprinkles Yes, I like the extra spice!

  • Hats off for the effort, mahalo for showing interest in the culture. The fish quality is lower grade. This recipe is not authentic, but still looks onolicious. Too much Asian flare to be called authentic Hawaiian. FYI - all this fusion stuff you may have seen on the islands have no traditional value... in Hawaii or elsewhere. Ahi means tuna fish, so saying "ahi tuna" is like "tuna tuna". You wouldn't say "chicken-fowl" right? Replace dat wonton crackah wit some beahs and now we talkin' .

  • @alohavalley

    Mahalo for your comment!

  • @iAlohaJeric

Cultural food changes almost daily. Mahalo for your comment! =]

  • @ChefTips lol dont mind the idiots that think they know hawaii. if you go to foodland or any other place that sells poke, you can find a wide variety of poke. the spicy ahi poke that you made in the video was different from the one that i'm used to seeing (which had an orange cream and fish eggs) but it doesnt mean it's not spicy ahi right? yeah, again, just wanna let those guys know that poke doesnt mean one thing.

  • LOL Haole People Say "POKE" Funny!!!

  • The fish is beautifully colored :)

  • I've never seen poke like this in Hawaii. Looks good, but not a traditional recipe.

  • @jahknee808 Really? We had it prepared just like this in Hawaii last spring.

  • mmmm i luv luv Poke!

  • can u use yellow fin tuna?

  • Awesome man. I love spicy Tuna.

  • @ltkman

    Thanks Kai!

  • oh man... i want to eat that NOW

Second. Could you possibly show how to make own Béarnaise sauce, that would be awesome, Cheers

  • @Metalguitarme

Thanks for the nice words. I love Bearnaise sauce! I will do a video in the future.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Cheers!

    Jason

  • @MezmerEyes1992 Just go home to Jason instead =D

  • I'm sure It would be good for sushi topping too

  • OMG.

i cant wait till i go to Hawaii again!!

  • You do the spicy ahi pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about!

  • @DidYouKnow01 Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoy them.

  • i tried with salmon it didnt turn out so well D: so it has to be tuna?

  • @breakdancingshado Yes, I'd just use ahi. I'm not a big raw salmon fan.

  • Jason,

    Haha another amazing video!

Too bad Waterloo doesn't have any good supermarkets nearby,

I almost flipped out when I saw all the old rotting frozen seafood at the Food Basics nearby,

When I get my hands on some tuna, I will definitely try this!

    Once again, another awesome video!

    Cheers from Waterloo

    - Daniel

  • @EmceeDG Thanks! Hope you enjoy it and find some good ahi soon!

  • LOL you did not try dis one at the end

  • happy new year chef!!

  • @TheCanontube Happy new year!

  • I bought sushi grade fish from the korean store since I am half korean but I couldnt make it straight away since I had a stomach flu,its been in my freezer for 3 days is it still good?

  • @beatricexox Hmmm. It's probably OK but not going to be as fresh-tasting.

  • @beatricexox Hmmm. It's probably OK but not going to be as fresh-tasting.

  • Tuna is the only good fish

  • Looks so mouthwatering!! Thx for this video.

  • you said shashimi , no offence

    Peace

  • @lploverx

    OK.... =]

  • Dude.... Never wash the flesh of the fish. Those flavours inside are water soluble. It will not taste as nice. But nonetheless great vid.

  • that looks sooo.. tasty and delicious! I wish i can try them :)

  • Looks wonderful Chef Jason!

  • Raw fish! Now you're talking = )

    Paul

  • @7seveng7

    Ha ha! Thanks Paul! =]

  • that looked absolutely amazing wish i could take a bite out of my screen hahah great job .

  • @mikedelgado8888 Thanks! It's good stuff! :)

  • I need to stop watching your videos before I go to bed, because I'm now very hungry again, and I'm too lazy to get out bed and go to the kitchen. Do you by the way often prepare dishes with raw meat, like this? Happy new year from Russia. Great video by the way!

  • @bratwa Hi there! We don't do a lot of raw dishes. We have a few about oysters, but that's about it. Usually we feature basic cooking recipes. Happy new year!

  • chef tips is the shiz

  • Happy New Year from Poland! Love your videos

  • @multiisj Thanks, and happy new year to you too!

  • nice!

  • you should do a video on cutting meat. i never really really understood the concept of "cutting against the grain". anyways, i LOVE your videos!

  • @RosellaRo Good idea. I do have a video on how to cut chicken. When you look at the ahi, you will see that there are layers of flesh that go in one direction. When you cut across the grain, you are cutting the opposite way — sort of like a Tic Tac Toe board. I hope that makes sense. Check out the close-up when I am cutting the ahi and you'll see what I mean. Cheers!

  • Looks great! In HI the tuna chunks were much bigger and kind of had a washed out color. Don't know why. What did you think of the larger chunks?

  • @vanscoyoc Yes, we purchased that ahi near Ko Olina. The ahi does lose its color after it is cut, so it's best to enjoy it right after you make it. You can make the chunks any size you like, but our family likes them a bit smaller. Cheers!

  • I always love when you make Hawaiian Dishes! makes me proud to be Hawaiian!

  • @ZylnorWrath Thanks! We're tackling Ted's Haupia Chocolate Pie next! :)

  • that looks sooooo good!!!!

  • I love Poke. Some of the best food Hawaii has to offer.

  • @liarsclub75 You are so right!

  • OMG!!! ITS SOOOOOO GOOD QUALITY VIDEOS THANKS!!!!

  • @THEsqeed Thank you!

  • Wow this looks good. I may have to pick up some more Hawaiian recipes! Happy New Year!

  • @jagwio Hope you enjoy it. Happy new year!

  • Good to see you back cooking in your new kitchen, I wish you the very best for next year.

  • @47065360 Thanks! All the best to you as well!

  • Happy New Year Jason!

My wife is gonna love this, which is always good news for me…Some of the best meals we've had are direct results from You Tube videos.

  • @SmokeyGoodness

Happy New New to you too! Thanks for the compliment.

    Here's to 2011!

  • That looks fantastic.

  • Welcome back!! It's good to see you back in your new kitchen cooking again!

  • nice.

  • Too bad I can't have sesame seeds :(

  • @ArtisticwithaK You can leave them out. It will still be terrific!

  • @ChefTips Yay!

  • Amazing looking food, with amazing music :)

  • haha thought it was gonna be cooked

    looks great nonetheless

  • Your fish doesn't look to be a Ahi tuna or "yellow fin" it should be a much brighter pink color that looks like watermelon. That tuna that you have looks like albacore.

  • @pbsports93 This was indeed ahi tuna, purchased from a gourmet seafood market.

  • po-kay po-kay! =) Looks delish! Thx!

  • What's the purpose of washing the fish? And doesn't the paper towel stick to the wet fish at times?

  • @GigaBoost

Hello. Sometimes there may be a hint of "fishy" smell and rinsing it will remove the smell. The towel usually does not stick to the fish.

  • Another Wonderful Video!

Thanks that you showed us this yummy recipe! : )

    Happy New Year!

  • @ARTeFAKD Thank you, and happy new year as well!

  • does it have to be raw?

  • @bluejuiseritsma If you don't want it to be raw you could just throw it in a wok and cook it really, really quickly over really high heat. I do that with chopped tuna all the time and i think I'm gonna try it with this recipe sometime.

  • @bluejuiseritsma True poke is always eaten raw, but like ChipNick87 said, you could sear it quickly. Just don't cook the other ingredients. Cheers, Jason

  • I had this yesterday :DD

  • cool, was waiting for this. thanks!

  • Thumbs up if you love how Chef figures out how to put his garlic shallot puree into everything

  • @eyesofnova Haha! I always have it in my refrigerator. I have a video on how to make it, but you can certainly use crushed garlic instead. Cheers, Jason

  • looks refreshing.....also chef jason if i may ask what kind of camera are you recording with.

  • @Urbansweetheart Thanks! This is a Canon HV30.

  • looks so good!

  • That looks fantastic!! I think I could eat the whole bowl!!

  • yummmmmmmmm

  • om nom <3

  • i dont really eat fish but meh i would give his tuna a try.

  • Yummmmmmmmmmmm! My favorite :D

  • Could you do this with some other kind of fish?? like salmon? and by the way what's the name of the song playing in the background it sounds really nice.thank you

  • @Foxmuffen Thanks! Poke is made with many types of fish, but ahi is the most common. Just be sure whatever you use is sashimi-grade fish. The music is by Andy Moore, a local musician on the North Shore of Hawaii.

  • hmmmmmmm, looks pretty good.

  • YUM!

  • yeah~~

  • no more intros?

  • YUM AHI POKE :DD i'm eating it now xD

  • @kauaisoljaz Great! How do you prepare your poke?

  • Looks good.
