Wonder if hes blown these great speakers yet? I bet he hasnt, because thats how good the JBLs are. A Little tip to anyone, always leave Bass and treble controls flat when starting out, its usually the best place to be. You shouldnt be maxing out the bass knob by anymeans. If you do make adjustments to bass and treble dont go anywhere past 10 and 2 oclock, 12:00 being center. Every recording is different. Purpose of a good system, is too faithfully reproduce the recording not alter it.
You should never drive your receiver up to shut down lol. Bad things will happen.
They gave you quite a gift. You will regret it later if you blow them. Give me a free pair of JBL's and you will be my best friend. Won't say a word on the sum total power you state for your sys. wtw88 said it straight-cleanest sound you can get.
@deathboi111 You can detect slipping by using an oscilloscope. Instead of the waves being round they will be cut off (distorted) at top and bottom. Not everyone has an oscilloscope though. For the sake of the average listener, if the music sounds distorted, there is too much clipping. Driving an amp to 1/2 power with the loudness on or with an equalizer set up to produce more bass will set up an unacceptable level of distortion and damage speakers and maybe the amp itself.
I biuld class 5-7 (8 on RAIR OCCASION when i'm feeling -livley-) systems, and this hurts me...But don't forget cones can moove faster than some cameras can frame.
Yeah, so little facts.. Your Sony amplifier will pull out maximum of 40 watts clean power..if even that much.. And your Logitech system, maybe 150 watts OVERALL. Which means all the 5 shitty satellite speakers and the subwoofer.. Z-5500 satellite tangband drivers can only take like 5-10 watts each..
WRONG! These studio S312 are rated to 240 watts rms and the logitech Z-5500 are rated to 505 watts rms so it made 985 watts! and of course, we don't know how many watts you amplifier draw per output so... A lot less than 1800 watts loll but that's a cool system, amazing speakers!
@kitleyd ..you think its not somuch the mike on the camera BUT, it could be just the obvious fact that his low frequency drivers are reverberating to ridiculous levels.
When you drive your amp to clipping (look it up if you don't know what it is) you will blow your voice coils.
The way you're using these might sound OK to you, but believe me it's not.
You are filling your room with distorted sound and ruining your ears. At the same time you are not learning to listen properly.
Go for the cleanest sound you can get. Get a good power amp and drive these speakers within their comfort zone and listen carefully. Get some acoustic recordings and begin to learn.
@wtw88 nice advice! I couldn't say better. Most people don't know how to listen to sound. They think with bigger bass and higher volume they will get the best. Not sir not!
@wtw88 its up to him how he wants to listen to them, even if he blows them. If he's happy he with it like that, leave him be. Music is in the eye of the beholder.
Speakers are great, but amplified in very bad way. As result those fancy speakers sound worse than many cheap speakers which cost less than $100.00. Get new amplifier and concentrate more on cleanliness and accuracy of overall sound, but not on punch of bass alone.
@craneywatch I'm sure he's already destroyed the voice coils. I have 2 pairs of these speakers with a matching center channel and sub hooked up to a harman kardon amp and processor. Check out my video to see how awesome these things can sound when hooked up to a nice amplifier.
505 watts RMS on the z-5500, not 1000. 188 RMS to the sub itself. 1000 peak to the z-5500, 400 rms to each JBL so they're probably 800 peak so he definitely has over 1800.
can you link me the speakers :) where i can buy them cause i cant find it on jbls website :)

the distortion is due to the crappy mic that cant pick up the bass well or treble.

1000 watts RMS on your Z-5500. So really 500. And im not sure if your talking about RMS on the JBL's but no where near 1800 watts.....
boldswede 2 years ago
505 watts RMS on the z-5500, not 1000. 188 RMS to the sub itself. 1000 peak to the z-5500, 400 rms to each JBL so they're probably 800 peak so he definitely has over 1800.
unm0d3r4t3d 2 years ago
do your research, do the math. No he doesn't.
boldswede 2 years ago
My research? Are you fucking blind? Do your math. 1000 + 800 + 800 > 1800? You're fucking ignorant. That's 2600 peak if he's right about the wattage.
Even if we say they're 400 peak, that's still 1800 peak.
Idgaf about their wattage, I'm just going by what he said and he said.
unm0d3r4t3d 2 years ago
but he's wrong on the wattage so you're the ignorant one my friend. I looked it up. x
