I love the use of their arms- it's so expressive. I don't know if I like the way this company holds their arms, but it is effective. I'm glad I finally watched this- it's really cool choreography.
Man this is a ballet that brings a company level really high ( more so than Thems and variations). They do an excellent job at it. It must be so much fun doing it even though i am sure you can't really move anymore afterwords and during it you don't wanna stop for breathing cause you'll just fall flat on the floor. :-)
I love this ballet, especially as the male dancing is exciting when all men dance well and in synchrony with their lines and the music. I love the choreography and the music. I wish it was performed more.
I first saw this in the 1960's when danced by the then London Festival Ballet (Now the English National Ballet) I had forgotten how spectacular it was. However it is only at its best when all the Corp and Solo work is neat and kept in line. Otherwise it looks v ery messy. In other words "Keep together and in line folk" !!
I've only heard about this ballet and seen pictures of it in books. It's really beautiful, and I love the music. Thank you for posting this on Youtube, and I wish more companies had this in their rep.
I saw this ballet a mond ago, and it was soo beatiful! I liked the beginning the most, when all the female dancers are dancing in the dark with the spotlights! Sooo good!
It is a wonderful ballet indeed! But the demands on the male soloists especially are enormous! I saw the version of the Dutch National Ballet. There was one soloist who outshone all the others: Cedric Ygnace. Spectacular!
I LOVE this ballet....you must have great technique to pull off a good performance. This performance is one of the better ones I've ever seen...you don't often see this performed because it is so very demanding.
Watching this great performance makes me even more disappointed that I didn't get to see Michele Wiles dance the female lead in this ballet during the Met season as well on tour. I would loved to have seen how her superior techniques matched the technical demand of this ballet. Then, of course, there's Angel Corella, Marcelo Gomes and David Hallberg for the male leads.
sucks to get a boner there....

In answer to 4GPR : I now remembered .The music is by Czerny. Surely the Hollywood machine is not using such greatness on his lowsy movies.,

WOW - I haven't seen this in about 40 years and it's still THRILLING. (I saw it in the
60's ABT - Lupe Serrano, Royes Fernandez, Bruce Marks and Toni Lander (ex wife of the choreographer. I wish more companies would put it in their reps.
