It's funny how you showed Dwight Howard and Dominique Wilkins in dunk contest where they both lost to Nate Robinson (5'8") and Spud Webb (5'7") respectively, who should both be on this list.
macjaykiwi Are you a baller? you need to take a look at this - (50 inch vertical [dot] com) - It's a unique workout that will help you begin dunking without even going to the gym it's not required
Connie Hawkins was a 27 year old rookie going on 28 with bad knees. He had just tore a ligament in his knee in his second year in the ABA. By the time he hit the NBA in 1969 he had bad knees and was no longer the player he once was.He was alot more athletic before he came into the NBA. Everything Connie did in the NBA he did it when he was passed his prime and with bad knees. He played his best ball in the ABL,Rucker Park, and the ABA,he was also with Globetrotters for 4 years.
Wilt Chamberlain did his fancy dunks in Rucker Park.Wilt was the first baller to dunk from the free throw line as the league had to put in rules to stop him from doing so, and that is on the official nba website. Connie Hawkins did the flashy dunks first. There is little footage of Connie because he was banned for 8 years. He did the windmills, reverse dunks, hook dunks, circular dunks first and all kind of dunks in the ABA and even int he NBA. Alot of those games werent shown outside of Phoenix
Yeah, I was just at Rucker a while back, Rucker is where it all started for alot of NBA players, where street cred was what it was all about. I didnt realise Connie was banned from the NBA for 8 years, do you know what for? Just need to promote my video more, would be good seeing more comments etc.
Yeah he knew a guy who fixed games from his old neighborhood back in Brooklyn. There was a point shaving scandal, there was no evidence of Connie's involvement, just that he knew Jack Molinas,it was Connie Hawkins,Roger Brown,Doug Moe.Three great ballers that the world doesnt know about because of false accusations and false confessions. A guy by the name of Jack Molinas who did the actual fixing of games was locked up . The cops forced Connie to confess and say that he was involved.
@tuzwol Wilt was not the first to dunk from the free throw line. The "Kangaroo Kid" Jim Pollard did it for the first time in 1941 and would occasionally dunk from the free-throw line during warm-ups when he played for Stanford and the (then Minneapolis) Lakers.
@tuzwol Wilt was the first (and thus far - only) player to dunk from the free-throw line without a running start. He would exploit this ability by leaping towards the basket during foul shots and depositing the ball above the rim. In the NBA - you can make a 3 point jump shot landing in front of the line, so long as you begin your jump shot from behind the perimeter. The same standard was in effect for foul shots but post-Wilt they disallowed entering the lane during a free throw.
